The change would widen the net to preclude members and participants in criminal groups from becoming members of CPD. It would add "biased" organizations to the list too.
"Groups that focus on biased conduct don't always commit crimes, but it's conduct is still not conduct that we think is appropriate for Chicago police officers," said Yvette Loizon, a member of the city's Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability.
But you can bet that the list of "unapproved" organizations is going to be straight out of the liberal playbook. Remember, the feebs were investigating Christian churches, people who attended the Latin Masses, assorted school board members and another government bureaucray targeted foreigners who home-schooled their kids. No doubt they'll put the Boy Scouts of America and the Knights of Columbus on these watch lists along with any pro-life, pro-Constitution, pro-freedom groups.
UPDATE: We missed the irony here - a Department that forces us all to go to "implicit bias" training where we are all told that we're biased (and probably racist) is going to use....bias in hiring standards.

The police have always been limited in the off duty conduct they can participate in like being in the Klan, etc. Public service employees do not have the same first amendment rights as others based on their "public service " states. Court decisions back that up also. Social media presence? Having a "cat" channel is fine, but anything that can be construed to be "biased" may be problematic.

If that’s the case FOP should do the same. I have heard people say that the city thinks if to many officers between 50 and 54 leave it’ll be a drain on the manpower. I also have heard it would be beneficial for the city because Officers with 29 years on are at the top of the pay scale, more furlo and baby furlo days, hit the medical more often, extra P Days etc. etc. etc. We’re all curious what you think on the topic SCC?

As someone who hung up his badge a long time ago after 28 years, in a state far to the West of you, from what I understand of Chicago your first question answers itself. From what I can see, in Chicago, like in all Leftist jurisdictions, the law has absolutely no effect on what those in power do. Nor do they need to fear any consequences.
I don't know why you want to be CPD, but I would recommend that instead you seek a job in a semi-free state where there is still hope. YMMV.

So the "King of Officer Wellness," Mette and the fat field rep who rips on officers for going to EAP are lying and bullying the recruits to they can get those dues to pay their Commander salaries.
