Good Point
That schedule we posted of exam dates and promotional classes next year?
Some said it would have been a lot better for the rank-and-file if the Department had let everyone know prior to furlough picks. The truly dedicated would have scheduled some intense study sessions around their vacation time.
Why do we think some people might have gotten the heads-up anyway?

You might be better off learning how to fellate the clouted clowns to get a merit pick.
The leadership in the CPD doesn’t understand logistics. Yes it would have been nice to let everyone know before furlough picks. But they let the people who are in the in crowd know before the masses. The people who are connected knew before the picks.
Who the fuck wants any of these promotions anymore anyways? I'd rather study for a class outside of this shitty career field.
That is a great point. I’m sure the inside people with the inside track knew the system. They knew exactly what was happening, would not be surprised if they already have the test and the answers in their hands and already started a study group. just like on the departments Facebook page where the superintendent is honoring a retired copper that had just 20 years on the job. When we retire do we get honored by the superintendent and get put on the Facebook page describing our illustrious career or is that only for the connected people that, most likely during their career did nothing but we’re inside taking care of private business just asking.
Are the "new arrivals" eligible to take these exams, asking for a friend...
Why? Because they are special.
No keeses for them!!!!
If they are serious about transparency the next step publish the promotion lists! All of them.

Ya know....
One of these days, someone has just got to get a stealth selfie of you, not neccessarily your face, and I wonder, will SCC post it, if submitted?
Study as much as you want but the truth is that it all depends on who the subject matter experts are for the exam and if they are holding their own study groups. Patty Casey's study group is going to turn out to be the most successful of all time. The likelihood of all those people doing as well as they all did without having the answers is damn near impossible. The inspector generals office should be looking to obtain the email list from those involved in the study group to see if any of the actual testing materials were disseminated to this group. Yet another of those lucky enough to know old Patty Cakes made it into the latest Lt. class that started on the 8th.
The fire department gets a comp list of rank on their promotional exams. Why is our list so secret? The FOP should send out the complete list once they receive it from the department. But even the FOP is on nonsense when it comes to promotions. JCat pushed so hard to keep that 2014 list alive, he posted a few Friday videos demanding the city keep It up and running when the city wanted to eliminate it, probably because it was expired. And yet this time, JCat wants a new test ASAP. None of this makes sense.
Many thought that larry was the real deal, the real police. But he is just another guy without a clue, being led around by many, just a puppet musclehead, not smart just connected and easy to manipulate!
Subject matter experts are not needed. If they want to use them, never show the subject matter experts final material. This cheating has been going on for ever and it will come to a complete stop once they stop giving subject matter experts material from the test.
will there ever be a legit testing process in Chitcago?

Start Today! What the fuck is stopping you? The sooner you start, the sooner you'll finish!
I heard that the Keesing Bandit gives out pictures of himself and his famous white wine spritzers at his prerry loft.
Either u kno it or u don’t
I’d love to see the test results from day 1 thru day 5 on this last sgt exam. There are some legit morons on those lists who couldn’t find their way out of a paper bag, and they’re gonna give POs direction on the street?! My God, this shit train will never end. Publish the test results with names and what day they had the test on. That will tell how ‘well’ they did by studying 2+ days of test material.
This talk about promotional exams kind of hit me thinking.
If there is an exam to attain a promotion, shouldn’t there be an exam to keep your promotion?
For example, let’s take for example the rank of Sgt.
If you take a test in 2024 and get promoted in 2026- won’t the rules and regulations you are required to know have changed by 2030?
The idea of “passing a test” versus the idea of having competent supervisors.
Not that CPD has any interest in competent supervisory ranks.
But that would also cut down on the “secret study groups” if proficiency exams were given perhaps every 3 years.
Your clout isn’t going to hold your hand every 3 years.
And merit may be able to GET you the spot, but the proficiency exams could be testable only.
Be competent or return to your last career service rank.

That part always puzzled me. So a person who did not pass a promotional exam and was a merit pick is not allowed to nominate other boneheads for a merit promotion and they are now considered subject matter experts. Then they can pass out the questions to their friends and girlfriends and wives so they will actually score high on the promotion test. A vicious circle if there ever was one.I sat for some depositions some years ago and the commanders who had to answer questions showed their ignorance of department policies in record time.
After 11 years on the job I found an excellent unit to stay in. Maybe one of the best available to POs. I hope everyone else can get to one and hide out for the rest of their careers and not have to stress and worry over these tests as if you don’t make it on the test the worst thing that happens is you will still be at your unit. Good luck to all!
