The rifles used by LE or Security (sanctioned of course) in IL on the job NOT owned by the LE /Security
personnel but owned by an Gov Agency do not require registration.
Licensed Security Companies creates a loophole of sorts in that the Act per registration of banned rifles
insofar they must have & main certificate from ISP which allows for purchase, repair & operation of all firearms including banned weapons from FFL. Note Security co. Must obtain a tax stamp for Full Auto, SBR/FA & Suppressors.
All to be in “Use of Licensed Services “ in State of IL.

Can’t get a straight answer anywhere. Personal carbines registered as duty weapons. Do they need to be registered with the state too? PO are not exempt from rifles since we personally own them. The rifles the city owns are exempt as far as I’ve been told. But I’ve also been told that PO are completely exempt with any gun they own as long as it’s federally okay and they remain a police officer.
