Is the Illinois State Police about to be drafted into gun confiscation?
The truly interesting part is around the 2:26 mark where Kirk notes that the State Police Revocation Enforcement Arm is getting increased funding. Not doubled. Not tripled or quadrupled.
Quintupled. From $2 million to $10 million.
That is disturbing, because there aren't five-times the amount of gun crimes nor five-times the amount of FOID revocations that we've noticed anywhere. As far as we can tell, FOID applications are at all time highs and renewals so intense that the ISP delays are running afoul of statutory requirements.
So why five-times the amount of money?
We like troopers. We like assisting troopers. We like when troopers helped us out, imparted knowledge, answered questions we had regarding vehicle code. We liked exchanging stories and bullshitting with them.
We don't like what the politicians are seemingly preparing to use them for.

When SCOTUS ruled against the City of Chicago in the landmark case McDonald vs City of Chicago, the democratic Machine fought back by purposely understaffing the state office that issues FOID and CCW cards to slow down the amount of such cards they issue to law-abiding citizens. The wait times are ridiculous, but this is how the democrats do things. But now that they want to confiscate weapons, they finally find money to staff that office? That should tell anyone they the Democrats are following an agenda, and not the U.S. Constitution.
How is ISP going to find out the names and addresses of all the owners of unregistered assault weapons? They will have to visit every FFL holder in the state and make copies of all the ATF 4473 forms from the past many years, and then convert them into a digital database.
This will cost a lot of money in manpower, either hiring more troopers to copy the 4473s, or pay current troopers lots of overtime to do it, which is why they needed this new funding.
And ISP's self-created registry won't be perfectly accurate. Some gun owners will have moved, died, or sold their weapons.
Yes, it is un-Constitutional for ISP to do so because such a registry is in violation of the Firearm Owners Protection Act of 1986 (which prohibits the creation of any new national or state registry after its enactment).
Also notice that the Governor and State Legislature never propose new laws to increase the penalties for criminals who use a gun to commit a crime. They only want to disarm law-abiding citizens.

In the video they refer to Il Public Act 103-006 which when I looked it up referred to 25 million for after school programs. Public Act 102-1116 is the Protect Illinois Communities Act On Assault Weapons which has the Illinois State Police enforcing it. If you read the text it also names all law enforcement in Illinois as participating if I am reading it correctly. Trying to read the legislature filings are confusing.

To see how police will react, just look back to the time of gun teams in Chicago late 80s early 90s. Guns north guns south guns west. They would get tipped by the dolly at the city gun registration desk, that John Doe was late in renewing his gun registration l ( remember each gun had to be re-registered every year). The gun teams would bogart their way into the citizens house and take the guns. More often than not the case way thrown out of court, but they had their numbers. The citizen usually lost the gun to confiscation. Although I wasn’t anointed enough to be on one of those gun teams, thought what they did was despicable and would never cooperate with those people. There will probably be a line around the block with P.O.s waiting to apply when the geniuses at the puzzle place, start task force’s to assist the state police. All seeking the OT and take home car.

As a federally licensed FFL, I have no obligation to show the ILLINOIS State Police ANY 4473's. AND, how are they going to make "copies" anyhow, are they bringing a Xerox machine with them?? I only have to show 4473's to the ATF when they come to do an inspection, somehow I don't think ATF will be joining the ISP in this unlawful mission.
Where is our U.S. Military ? They swore an oath to protect our Constitutional Rights.

How times have changed I’m retired now but when I started in law enforcement I worked a county in Indiana that bordered Illinois. Specifically Iroquois county. This was well before hr218 we went t o Illinois on and off duty and they did the same. Illinois state police same always professional courtesy both ways. Now you would have problems.

SCC, Here is the question any Illinois law enforcement officer must ask themselves? When you make a PICA arrest! Are you prepared to take the stand and be cross examined? When asked do you believe in 2A and do you own any AR styled rifles? As the defense attorney asks further questions can you answer them without putting yourself into the Trick bag?
At first I thought I was confident in doing my job and testifying in court? But as you read this entire weapon ban and see how ISP can and will expand it, you will be thinking deeply into how far into the rabbit hole will you fall? This is from an active ISP training officer. Who feels the 1st item is 2A laws and what will be next? That’s why the state is throwing money at ISP to do enforcement but having a hard time finding volunteers, and now looking at seniority to fill the assignments!

If you think that they are going to make us do something that’s against the constitution, it won’t happen. Sure, some 2-3 year wonder may march in lock step but the majority of us won’t. They merged several districts this last year or two. The latest being the incorporation of District 15 (Tollway) into Troop 3. It’s a nightmare. A disaster. There is so much push back and issues if they think they’ll get us all on board with gun grabbing, they are mistaken. This director is the worst we have ever seen. He’s a political hack. A true politician. No one respects him. At least the previous director, Leo, was a cop. This guy is a chooch. The ISP was once a proud organization. It’s not anymore. The bottom doesn’t respect the top because the top respect the bottom. They’ve lost control of the ship and it’s headed toward the iceberg.

The standards have been lowered so that most new officers will obey rather than think for themselves. If a gun confiscation unit is started in Chicago there will be many waiting in line to sign up. The lower standards recruitment was done for a reason.

Well said. Destabilize the police. Let a few generations pass. Hire the new generations who learned nothing but propaganda in public schools and fake college their whole lives. Push demasculanization of males narratives. Keep them drunk on bread and circus as they will never revolt.
