Another Finding of Guilty

Missed this one the other day:

  • Just five months after French was killed, another man was charged with shooting at Chicago police officers during a traffic stop in the Loop. As in Morgan’s case, the Loop traffic stop was caught on bodycams and other surveillance video. And, as in Morgan’s case, cops shot the man who allegedly opened fire on them.

But Edgardo Perez, 26, rejected plea deals and put his fate in the hands of Judge Aleksandra Gillespie two weeks ago. It didn’t go well for him. Gillespie found him guilty on all counts—ten felonies, including four counts of attempted murder. He’s now facing the possibility of decades in prison.

Officials said Perez was the front-seat passenger in a freshly hijacked Honda Accord when Chicago police officers stopped the vehicle near Columbus and Lower Wacker Drive around 8:48 p.m. on January 26, 2022.

An officer’s bodycam was rolling as he approached the Accord’s passenger side on foot and ordered the vehicle’s occupants to show their hands, prosecutors have said. The footage allegedly showed Perez firing a handgun toward the officer at close range.

The video at the CWB link is particularly scary. The cop narrowly avoiding getting shot - catching some glass in his eye as the shitbag fired through the raised window. Very lucky doesn't begin to describe the scene.

This was a bench trial, so good on Judge Gillespie for seeing through the bull$hit.

With a couple verdicts going CPD's way, perhaps the crazy, naked, high-as-a-kite, squad car stealing, newly hired, 80K City of Chicago accountant woman trial beginning in April will go our way, too.

Let's see the sentence before we hold the party....

Illinois tends to turn decades into weeks of incarceration.

If all of these charges are sentenced to be served consecutively, then we're getting somewhere. If it's the usual concurrent bullshit + time served credit + good behavior 50% discount, we're all fucked as usual...

You know the eastern European nations after WW2 used the so called "short drop" hanging method to execute their Nazi war prisoners where'as we used the long drop method that snapped the shit heels neck instantly. Its rather fascinating how they would have to adjust the drop a certain exact length using the condemns weight and height so as not to have him be-headed with the drop but to have enough force to break his spine. Remember "Chemical Ali"? Saddam's henchman that nerve gassed everyone ? Well they kind of fucked up his execution and be-headed him, which, who gives a fuck ?

But in east Europe they would hang them from a single pole with out a drop which then took about 20 mins to strangle the Nazi prick. I'm just saying maybe this short drop method would deter these assholes from shooting at the Police. Just show a few live during NBA games intermissions.

What you think ?

Could it be the lemmings are finally getting some sense knocked into their heads? Are they realizing the police are not? The problem were never the problem? When you have elected officials with massive police bodyguard, details that rival the president of the United States, you can see why they don’t care about, the lemmings who are trying to survive in this corruption filled city state and county. In this state in this city, this county there is no law there is only a struggle for us to survive.

Even when they've been found guilty of their crime, and it's captured on video, the media morons still choose to say they "allegedly" shot at police. I wonder what the media thinks "allegedly" means.

I have always believed that a future inmate should have a few extra years tacked on for pleading "not guilty" in the face of incontrovertible evidence like video or DNA.

Civilian here: Can you guys post of list of the anti-crime judges and the pro-crime judges for voting purposes? Really hard to tell who's who on the ballot and a lot of voting guides are by pro-crime groups like Injustice Watch.

Seems difficult for defendants to deny evidence of body-cams.

Reference the 'short drop' hanging being televised as a deterrent -
ANY of the old-fashioned methods (Gas chamber, electric chair, hanging) were pretty ghastly.
Anyone who witnessed those methods would never do something that could make them next.
Lethal injection were the subject drifts off to sleep and doesn't wake up is no deterrent...
unless you're in Oklahoma.
Officials here 'miscalculated' when they did the last guy to get the needle.
Instead of going sleepy-bye, he spent several minutes in pain and terror gasping for breath.
That was exactly the same way his victim died after he buried her alive.
Karma at its finest.

I remember the wacker drive case, their commander, now DC of CCG was pissed and wanted to know why they were across the river in 001 and not in 018 where they belonged .. Nevermind the fact that they went to assist officers with the carjacked vehicle being tracked in 001.. and he was promoted to DC…

This was the results of higher ups breathing down the next of Tact officer in the middle of January asked why numbers weren’t comparable to the summer months. I hope the leadership felt some type of way after this incident
