Re-Hire Program in Trouble?
More rumors!
- rehire program is going to be nuked. it's been a failure in almost every
measurable metric. many of them have gotten rehired, only to come back
and stay a few weeks/months and then resign... again. people who have
applied to be rehired have copa and Bia cases when they left and aren't
coming back. domestic beefs, issues with the agencies they left to, you
name it.
applicants in the process will be okay but there's going to be a cut off date in the next few months to wind it down.
So....the grass wasn't greener?
Looking for verification.

No.. the grass wasn’t greener and I was one of the guys who found out. You think you have a bad sgt??? Because he calls you out because you’ve need down on a job for two hours?? Laughable. These micromanaging suburban pricks will sit next to your car while you type the report on your PDT. As soon as your done they will say, ok so looks like your back in service.. Gotta leave an hour early to pick up a kid? Hope that slip was in a day or two ago and a replacement from the other watch was able to come in early to help. Needed that Saturday off? You better find a switch because unlike a watch in CPD where 15-20 people may be approved off on a single day.. here if 1 or 2 want off, you need to find a switch, and no, it doesn’t matter what you have going on that day, you will miss it. Furlough Friday?? What’s that. Running late for roll call? Burn the time and get admonished/written up. Sit around and watch Netflix between jobs until you get another call?? Hahahahah.. nope. You better be out getting movers or DUIs. If caught sitting between jobs then you get told to move on by your sgt. Uniform is not perfect?? Not today!! Get it changed. Good luck on a promotion. You are either the chiefs boy our your not. If your not then you are a patrolman for life. Everyone kisses the chiefs ass and follows him around like a little puppy. All the “bosses” are they chiefs yes men who don’t help anyone except themselves and the chief. Also, a bunch of nerds and dweeb hardos out here in the suburb I went too. Regret it every single day…. Be glad you work for CPD no matter how screwed up you think it is… trust me.
They leave and realize they haven't really been doing shit or actually been the police in decades. Lie detectors keep many off other agencies and bringing a Chicago attitude to a great department gets them lumped into shit bird status. They had it good in Chicago. High pay, show up for work and do nothing. Again, it's a nightmare recruiting from a large dysfunctional department like Chicago. Recruiters are learning this and the well is dry.

Not sure why everyone has to throw a little shade at the folks who try to do better for themselves and their family and take the chance at other opportunities. This is one of the most incompetent organizations on the planet. There's literally nothing to be proud of working for CPD, it's actually embarrassing to tell people you do. Many POs are in stressful areas on stressful watches. Not only is there no reward for working, in reality you're a moron if you are proactive. I encourage anyone who thinks they can do better and deserve better to pursue their beliefs. If it works out you'll be so much happier. If it doesn't work out at least you tried. No one should ever be criticized for leaving this shithole.
If you got hired somewhere else or even have a different job, stick it out for a while. The Dems may be putting out cheese for you but it’s loaded with☠️.
“More rumors! rehire program is going to be nuked. it's been a failure in almost every measurable metric.“
A failure in almost every measurable metric, you say? Well Jesus H. Christ on a bicycle! Placing lunch orders for committee meetings aside, this perfectly describes ME in my role at FLOP Central.
I personally know of some coppers down left, went to other states, thinking it was going to be much better found out that the pay was less a lot less overtime and accountability wise in play, where you are accountable for all the hours in your day! I know if coppers that went to Florida the great state of Florida said it was miserable too hot to pay was not anywhere near what they were making here and the cost of living was the same or more? And the medical time you get 5 to 10 days per year that’s all you get and a pension was not as good so to all the coppers that came back thank you we need more of you back as quickly as possible to pay into our pension fund now you’ve lost tens of thousands of dollars for a experiment being stupid listening to people without checking things out but that’s what millennials do! Heck, we still have some coppers living in their mothers basement. Mom and dad are still taking care of the bills ridiculous and they are in their mid to late 20s and in their 30s you talk about a catered scared generation incredible!
Well over according to the Pension board 200 coppers are trying to get rehired that left could it be because they had an actually wear a proper uniform and two or more of them have to look alike in uniform? You’re not gonna go somewhere else and get what you have here the total lack of supervision do whatever you want extra lunches. You’re not going to get the hey boss do you mind if I go see my kids play baseball in another area another district for a little while on duty and the boss will tell you sure go ahead for an hour or two that don’t happen in other places. When you work for a smaller department, there’s no place to go you are consistently watched everything you do is accounted for. The pay is much less. Your medical coverage is less and you don’t get the medical time anywhere near it. Plus they don’t play games not like here. The shock value of working here, and going somewhere else opens a lot of the eyes of the , younger cater to generation. Welcome back hopefully you get rehired but then again maybe you don’t deserve to be rehired. Go get your shine Box you left too bad so sad.
There was a guy who left who was the biggest whiner I have ever met. He was so miserable I was happy to see him gone. Now he's back from his suburban department. Maybe he should have picked a new career.
Once you leave, you are better off gone.
Now, kees me you fool!!!!
The BASICS:
Rehires may return if they have not been gone for 36 months or have reached age 50.
Rehires will be placed at their last step on the current Salary Schedule for Sworn Police
Personnel.
All members will be rehired as title code 9161 regardless of rank or title code at time of
resignation.
Hate to be “that guy”, but fuck ‘em.
I understand the desire to leave. I’ve had it myself for a while.
But it’s like any relationship.
You can’t just divorce your wife, realize you are happier with her, then come crawling back 8 months later and expect things to be back to normal.
Some things there are just no coming back from.
In my opinion there’s no hard feelings if you leave but there’s also no coming back.
So weigh the option carefully and live with your decision.
Re-Hire Program in Trouble?
Only a handful of mostly "degenerate" officers have come back. Often those who can not be on time, write grammatically organized reports, or use significant amounts of medical time. A few have been arrest or obtained really bad complaints too.
Pffft. You think that's bad news...just wait until you see the pants-on-the-head retards that CPD took in as lateral transfers from the suburbs recently. I guess they actually make their officers read and write in some of these burbs and small towns. And they can't buy a Tesla or Benz with their salary. So they transferred here...just please don't shoot me when you're trying to qualify or get scared by Halloween decorations.
I left the grass is greener. The problem is the people who typically leave we’re lazy in CPD, and if you are lazy in CPD and don’t change the suburbs can and will drop you. The only thing that sucks about suburbs is the people are snobby and have a chip on their shoulder cause they never deal with things CPD deals with on a daily. If you’re going to leave just make sure you are ready to adjust.

Not sure what that "Chicago attitude" is, but here's what I know. I'll take an old school CPD copper to "be the police" when shit hits the fan anytime, anyplace.
You will most likely have to work for a living. A lot of training. I loved the CPD. The suburbs are into public service. In some areas, snow blizzard conditions are a police concern. In CPD, I didn't give a shit what the weather was on CPD.
It's the best job on earth if you want it to be.
I knew a guy who sold office supplies before he came on the job. He said, "How many envelopes do I have to sell to make $110,000?
Same here. Sold insurance
People who lateraled and then come back always complain because they actually have to work in the suburbs. I left and I have a better schedule and get paid more. Sure they expect you to write paper on every domestic who cares, you’re getting paid good money to do it. Not to mention the better training you get in the suburbs. Yea there is micro managing but do your job and you’re good. There’s also people becoming FTOs in the burbs with one year on who don’t even know the job themselves and are expected to train new recruits, dumb!
As shitty as this job has become in a lot of ways, we still are basically getting paid 100k a year to drive around and write reports. The micro managing bosses are few and far between here. The grass on this side may be brown and littered with glass and shell casings, but it's not that bad
150 awards in 5 years and left with 1 COPA beef that I had no idea about. CPD said no. Was probably better for the long term it’s like a war veteran jumping back into contracting for the thrill of it but forgetting about how their family suffered.
On another note, I know somebody with 5 kids who went to a suburb with great schools just to avoid CPS. Says the job isn't perfect, but the tradeoff makes it worth it.
Not every suburb or out of state agency can be put in a box. It’s up to every individual to make an informed decision about a new pd …read their contract, do a ride along or two, and talk to some of the patrolmen and street supervisors . You also need to take into account the pension accrued with Chicago with what happens when you go to a new agency. If you leave CPD without doing your research well then you’re an idiot. There is no doubt the grass won’t be greener at some PDs. At my agency though we’ve had double digit CPD come the last three years and all are happy. My agency is large enough you get off whenever you want, no forced ot, no cancelled rdo’s, with constant movement available between shifts and into various investigative units available. Fully funded pension, ot up the ass (if you want it), things like furlough Fridays are alive and well, and sgts exams every 3 years with many promotions off each one. Once again do your research! Its your livelihood and responsibility…no one else’s.
I Spent 9 years in the city. Working in 5,6,7. Now I work for a SMALLL dept. You have to find the department that fits your personality. Dog ass cop can only make it in the city, ya the Burbs has a lot of problems, but the quality of life is 10000% better. It isn't till you leave the city do you start to realize how much of it was bullshit. If CPD didn't have the creatures on the 5ht Floor at HQ or Copa. No one would ever leave.
well, I retired 4 years ago,,,,,sooooo,,,, can I come back and just hit the medical? You know,,, just like some of those desk dollies who never made a felony arrest yet make sgt on their 1st test
Let’s be honest here , if you go to a suburb they expect you to work. You’re being paid for by the tax payers of that suburb and they want their tax money to be utilized properly. Here in Chicago this administration is just happy to put a name on an A&A and tell the monitor of the fake consent decree that we have the required number of police working today. CPD is a joke and it’s such a joke that all you have to do is show up to roll call and say ,” here, sir.” Nothing more is required other than just show up and say ,”here.”
By the time I retired, I had my house sold, and was staying in a hotel during the work nights. After the four-day work week, I would drive out to my new home in the boonies and spend the next 3-4 days out there. I would drive straight into work that 1st day, and I never once thought about returning.
I chose not to have more children in my 50's, and had my Chicago domicile paid for. I saw a few people leave and return, they never seemed very happy. Make a plan and stick to it.
Coming back was NEVER an option...
I love it never looking back

The majority leave CPD because of residency. That’s the number 1 reason. Number 2 is the lack of trust with city leadership.
I am sure there are alot more people that are happier that left this department. Obviously there is a trade off and you shouldn’t expect or compare your new job to CPD. Most people that leave do so for a better quality of life. Would you move to Afghanistan if they paid you 300k a year and let you do what you want? I know I wouldn’t. Not everything in life is about money. Some people value peace and quiet and a more laid back lifestyle. Some would like to own a nice chunk of land and have space between their neighbors. Some people don’t want to smell weed, listen to pounding obnoxious music, and dodge all the losers with their cars wrapped in foreign flags and driving like assholes nonstop. These are the realities of living or even traveling through Chicago. Most coppers hate the beauty and fun of summer because they are stressed out the most during that time Chicago cops are depressed, they look old and worn out, they hate the summer, it goes on and on. But hey the pay is great if you can survive a couple years past your retirement!
The fall SGT class will be off of the new list, reliable source
I guess the communist Chicago Police Department isn't so bad. 364 days of medical goes unmatched anywhere.
3/13/2024 12:13:00 AM
Good points. Totally different in the burbs. I know of a few guys that came back. Also not all those inside jobs in the suburbs
Lazy ass Biradar can back and is now miserable in 001.
This Air Max-wearing goof is calling his Imam to get him to 019 2nd Watch.
Please go away!
I know a good number of people who left and say it was the best thing they did.
CPD is one of the best departments, it would be better if there weren't any meritorious supervisors

Nope over 200 trying, call the pension board big sticking point the idiots that left now want their pension continues if they never left and that will never happen just like residency will never happen! Some have the audacity to even demand they go back to their cush unit which is not happening unless your connected. Big thing is medical time, and no games you do the job and account for your time with real bosses that do the job! CPD is like a playground they went to try the big leagues got less pay, less benefits now crying to rejoin! Will mom still let you live in her basement wearing your star wars jammies? How about mom's meatloaf and cookies?
I left. Glad i did. The hardest part is the job accountability. Its all minor. Burglar alarm, make sure you check the doors, because if you miss something they will call you in the morning, and you get an hour ot.
They guys i work with are beefer s. They do not know how good they have it. Pissed off going to ambulance calls, or residential burglar alarms..
12 hour shift, every other weekend off, four calls max, mostly ambulance assist, (fire does everything) but they expect you to write five to ten movers every month. Easy to do all the cars have radar.
Yes its hard but you get used to writing soccer moms in their mini vans or beemers, but i give every one 18 mph over the limit and get my tickets. Love getting a suspended or revoked driver, peace of cake.
We have a Walmart we get the occasional shoplifter..
There is no commradiere like the CPD, there is no unit to bid out to.
What sux is all the schools they make you go to. Im a youth officer, and a et. Never had a youth to process, processed a vehicle theft in the Walmart lot, thats it. Now they want volunteers to go to accident reconstruction school, only because my wife is due shortly I am not going.
Every one lives in different communities, the schools are excellent, my taxes are eight grand in Kane County, i miss the people of the CPD, but my car is spotless, my station is spotless, i found a home, just cant get over how quiet it is. My department goes out of its way to give you time off, never turned down and what i really like is the hour per shift to use the station to exercise or shoot. Paper is also very easy..
Its not perfect, maybe not for everyone, i really do nothing, and my Sgts tell me im one of their most productive employees.
Just keep my mouth shut, I'm nothing but a over paid Pinkerton, working in a crime free community, i have nothing in common with the citizens, more in common with the landscapper s, maids and nannies.
Big cultural change.. the Residency is worth it.
I left for a suburb department. They were so short staffed, they refused to give anyone days off using comp time and forced coppers to use sick time (no medical in the burbs!). With that being said, they required a minimum 6 people working a shift. So, if someone called in sick, they held over an officer to work 4hr extension. Mind you, we were on 12 hour shifts. ME, being lowest senior guy got the shaft every time. No early ducks exist, so that's a 1800-0955 tour of duty. The worst experience I ever had with my short career of 6years. Very grateful to be back.

Wow. Sounds like you are a dog and don’t want to follow rules, huh? Left Chicago with almost 10 years on the job to go to the suburbs and was the best move I made. Leaving CPD means starting fresh, you won’t get days off you want. It’s called seniority! The suburbs is definitely greener, know how to write a good police report, wear a proper uniform. We have a set schedule so don’t complain, you know what you sign up for. You know what? I haven’t had 1 day off canceled, I don’t deal with ghetto trash, no protests, people actually wave to me and not sit on the ground and flip the bird.
I only know of one person who got rehired and the city got their moneys worth with him. He easily does the work of three. He wrote lesson plans, eLearning etc. I won't say where he's assigned but he's extremely knowledgeable and humble.

So humble that he wrote this about himself.
It’s so strange and bipolar. The same cops on here that talk crap and how miserable this job is are now the same ones saying how great it is and how the hours and job is so much better here. Make up your mind ….. some cops are never happy they complain and moan about how they hate cpd but now the same ones are saying how pathetic people are for leaving and cpd is the best. My gosh, delusional weirdos. They also same ones saying we have no man power and short staffed and all the recruits are idiots and fail drug tests and common sense tests , but then when experienced or laterals come over they talk crap about them. It comes down to the negative unhappy cop that no matter what they will complain about if it’s sunny or if it’s raining. And if they get a big raise with a pot of gold from a leprechaun they will be same ones complaining that it’s too heavy to carry. Make up your mind, apparently the only ones perfect in life are them without any mistakes or errors. They live their lives in perfection and everyone else is a fool and not good enough as they are. It’s sad, but lots of cops with ptsd and stress and personal turmoil in marriages and life in general, talk to a doctor and get on some medication to help with the judgmental bipolar attitude. Apparently some people in life will never be happy whether it’s a sunny summer day or cold dark winter. Unfortunately this is what the job makes a lot cops. They only survive to bitch and judge all day. Some of these dudes and gals could benefit from EAP. Look people, life ain’t that serious. Live a little and not make everything revolve around this job.
Wow. Sounds like you are a dog and don’t want to follow rules, huh? Left Chicago with almost 10 years on the job to go to the suburbs and was the best move I made. Found the kiss ass, that’s why you love it, you drink the kool aid over there. I would rather stay with CPD and have no expectations and deal with pookie and ray ray than work in a suburb and put up with their politics.

Agreeed!
I was one of the people that left, it was both the hardest and best decision I made in my career.
I miss my friends everyday, I miss the comradery everyday. But what I don't miss is all the nonsense the city has. I don't get my days off cancelled, I get every time due request I have made, I made supervisor in under two years, why... because they test every two years like clockwork.
It is definitely not Chicago... There are no "gun days" or holding of slips, you are accountable for everything. And they do hold you accountable. There are no three line reports, and as a patrolman you are responsible for the investigation of your calls in their entirety.
Your experience either in or out of the CPD is what you make it, for me it was a good move.
Folks calling out people with their actual names on these post are such keyboard warriors. I mean why remain anonymous, you're a cop, so have some fucking balls or bunch them lady lumps and let yourself be known. I have one question for the one who name dropped me, who the hurt you? And Oh yeah, for the record, I never asked to return to 2nd watch. Why not just post a comment with your name Mighty mouse!
Chuckling a bit at this one.
I just retired from teaching in a suburban district (we say the pledge, have a US flag, and I could cite parts of the Bible as it related to the subject, so don't start with the bullshit you heard from someone's friend, etc; stop by, be a sub, see what it's about).
Same situation generally applies with CPS teachers who want to get out here, they can't deal with children who aren't black, and when kids are, they treat them like thugs. They are all hammer and no ears, focused on the paperwork, upset about the pay cuts, and usually only last a year or so. There are one or two who made the transition but most are the kind you describe,
They'll be unhappy anywhere they end up.
Stay safe, you are respected and appreciated by us out here!
CPD is a poorly run shit hole, stop sticking up for it. There are a lot of really good cops but for every good one there are 10 total shitbirds that can barely count their nuts twice and get the same number. The out of state shit I'd by no means perfect but it is definitely more organized. In the 3 years since I made the job, I've had more department training or schools my agency has paid for than i had received in more than 20 years in chicago. And it's training actually relating to making you better at your job, not garbage teaching you that you're the descendants of confederate slave chasers or terminally biased bigots. Granted there are no early ducks, no milking out your overtime, uniform and equipment standards, and a expectation that if you're going to do something, you better do it well or not at all. If you've been slipping and sliding and hiding at CPD, don't waste your time leaving. And if you're going to leave, you better be an adult and leave with coming back.

I bet my life you were a 3yr wonder at CPD. Left to a burb bc you didnt get the tact spot you were promised…. Based off of your novel, I already know the type of cop you are; Started at your new suburb PD & walked in thinking your shit didnt stink like 99% of you 3yr wonders. Thats probably why you are micromanaged. It’s called seniority too kid. Youll get your weekends off at some point sorry you can’t drink your sparkling seltzers. Dont like that burb? Find another one. It’s a lateral’s market. And before you cry and rebuttal, I have 16mo left in this shithole city, so I think I know what I’m talking about.
Well said, thank you.

Bottom line. Two years on CPD is like 25 years at any suburban police department. Deep down inside they know they’re a bunch of goofs who write soccer moms movers. Heroes you are. These bitches would shit their 5.11’s if they were at a project building going off the hook.

Not sure what that "Chicago attitude" is, but here's what I know. I'll take an old school CPD copper to "be the police" when shit hits the fan anytime, anyplace.
3/13/2024 07:50:00 AM
I agree with your sentiment. However, good luck finding an “old school CPD copper” these days. The last of the real police came on in the mid-90s. And any of those remaining on the job are smart enough to understand that the rules have changed and they will not go “old school” unless exigent circumstances apply. You radioing for help trying to wrestle a dope dealer into handcuffs ain’t exigent circumstances, superstar. Adapt to the rules of the game, son.
PS - you ain’t seen shit hit the fan, kid.
"A few have been arrest or obtained "
You can't write properly either, but go ahead and cast that first stone.
***Good ridden, 16months not arriving soon enough to get your crusty ass out of this city. Youre the one on this blog anonymous talking mad shit, most probably because this the only place you feel you have any power. Sounds to me that youre one of those who thinks they know what they’re talking about!***.

3/13/2024 07:49:00 PM
If you just scroll on by, no one will ever remember your name except for the person calling you out. Now your reaction lets them know how sensitive you are, and they'll keep doing it. The more attention you bring to it, the more people will remember you for it. I never heard your name before and didn't remember it after reading that post. Now I know your name and that you can't handle a little jab without losing your shit and whining. As for posting anonymously, there are a thousand reasons to do so as a cop, and no good reasons to post under your real name. You just open yourself up to scrutiny and potential retaliation or discipline. Let it go and then embrace anonymity.
I don't see any reason to diss anyone for making a personal decision whether to leave or stay, do what's right for you I always say. With that being said, like others have mentioned, you better do your homework on the dept you're thinking of lateraling to and decide if you want to abide by how they operate.
To the "comradery" guy few posts up^
Anyone brining in activity for their supervisors is a bonafide moron. These same supervisors
who promise you the world, but are trained to immediately "take action" meaning shove it up your ass should anything not to their liking be recorded on your BWC. Don't give these people anything and above all don't trust them. I learned the hard way and thank God not with a termination. It's a dog eat dog department and your watch party buddy sergeant will flip on you when COPA or BIA gets involved.
Yes, it’s better here without a doubt with all the benefits we get you want a day off most of the times you can get it. Look at the Chicago fire department paramedics for example They can switch her day with another paramedic in order to get more days off in a row. We are not allowed to switch days they have to switch days if they’re not in replacements are very thin not like we have even though we don’t have a lot most of us have zero trouble getting a day off. Like many of said, you go to some of the suburban departments, you actually have to work you are accountable, you have to wear the proper uniform, you have to be clean-shaven you have to look professional. You leave you will definitely not get the medical that you get here that is for sure, and the easy breaks , do what you want drive around as a secretary with a gun you can do that here over at other places you cannot because accountability is job one. When you look at a command structure like we have here it is a total absolute failure in most aspects respect is not earned. Respect is not given . We had inspectors that we’re going out and looking at certain things but now they’re all hiding somewhere look at the vehicles in the parking lots that are coppers vehicles for example, how many don’t even have proper plates proper city stickers proper registrations? If you’re the law and you don’t obey the law, how can you enforce the law? You don’t many people many coppers don’t do the job. The truth is hard. We all know that boys and girls. Many of you this is your first job and you think that you’re actually working hard. You can tell those stories when you get home and go down to moms basement. Tell mommy and daddy all the hard work you did, then they will make you a nice bowl of soup as they talk to you in and you go to sleep

- I've been 'slipping and sliding' for 30 years. But always - ALWAYS - did my job. Did good work too. Never took a promotion I didn't earn. Never had to kiss some bosses ass to make/remain a det. Good luck with your 8.5 Hour legit day and your shiny uniform. Make sure you show up to traffic court on time superman. Made it out intact. Soon I'll be waking up in the morning wondering what I am gonna do all day.

Sounds like where my son is. Near west burb?
You folks do know that if you're responding to another comment that you don't have to copy and paste the entire original comment right? Especially when it's a 3-4 paragraph short story. You're cluttering up the comment section you fucking morons.

What you always do:
What you must, if you can.
What you want to, if you can.
Whatever intrudes uoon the preceeding which demands a response.
Savor this.
There are a lot trying to come back

True. Did you know you don't have to read it each time?
If you're going to go, do your homework and go with intention of never coming back. If you don't, you're going to tell yourself you made a mistake and second guess yourself. Think of those bimbos that leave an abusive relationship only to go back to the abuser because they think they'll change. If you're truly miserable it's guaranteed to stay that way unless you try something else. There's a chance it might be better for you but you won't know if you don't try.
“PS - you ain’t seen shit hit the fan, kid
I didn’t know a star and bar (plus) qualified me as a kid!
Who knew?
P.S.S. I’ve seen more than my share, kid!
Not everyone left because they hated CPD or the job. Some left for other opportunities or for family reasons. Some are coming back for family reasons. Some of you are really hating and taking it personally that people left and now want to come back. You don’t know how their family situation changed. Some people have family members back in Chicago with cancer or now their family grew and money is more important now. You really gonna piss on people for looking out for family. Some of you really need to chill. In one breath you will bash this job on here all day and bitch about how you can’t wait to leave but then bitch at people for actually leaving.
Everyone beefing about how poorly run CPD etc etc. I have 26 years on now. No matter how screwed up this department is, when I leave roll call and the kool aid speeches are done the same thing happens every single day. I grab my keys, go to my car and I become my own boss. It’s that simple. The Sgt isn’t in the car with me nor is the WC. Sgts ride on jobs to log you, get over it. I have zero issues with a Sgt riding on my job. After a short minute they leave to log the next guy. I answer my calls promptly, write paper if it’s needed, code it out as soon as I’m done and I repeat for 8 hours. I can’t up the times, do what I’m supposed to and everyone leaves me alone. I also bring in zero activity.. I did the tac and gang thing for 16 years.. I’ve had my time. But my sgts and Lts don’t care because I go out there, handle my stuff, don’t hide in the hole all day or stay down on a Parker for an hour and I assist people who need it. Good luck doing that in the burbs. My brother is a cop in Niles.. not a chance you can get away with that. Sgts always on you, clickie, write paper for everything, beg for days off, finding replacements when you want off, making switches etc etc. no thanks. I’ll happily get lost among the chaos at CPD and ride my time out making mid 6 figures now. Zero stress after you can make it to 2nd watch on a beat car. Good things come to those that wait. Most people complaining have 3-10 years on because they realize they have to tough it out like the rest of us, been denied 2nd watch because “they have kids and a family” (just like everyone else so get online kid) or realized the novelty wore off because they were suburban or out of state kids who were gonna be the real police like the movies.. then after a year they found out it’s midnights in the ghetto working weekends and holidays.. welcome to reality kid..
30 plus years ago I remember people leaving for "greener pastures". Most made their way back or regretted that they left. The grass isn't greener it's just different.
Anybody know here about the lateral process? I’ve heard CPD has no idea what is going on or what they’re doing about It. Would be cool to know if anybody knows and how It goes
