Stop Asking Questions!

Just open your wallet peasant:

  • The Chicago Teachers Union will soon ask the city for financial assistance to house teachers.

For reference, the median teacher’s salary is more than $93,000 compared to Chicago’s median household income for the whole city of $71,000.

CTU also said it wants money for housing students experiencing homelessness or temporary living situations, but the first item on their list of housing demands was: “Financial assistance for CTU members to live and work in the city.”

CTU’s contract proposal states their housing agenda starts with “Bring Chicago Home” on the city’s March 19 primary ballot. They gave $200,000 to the effort to promote the tax hike.

This is the referendum on the ballot that was declared null-and-void by the courts and is currently on appeal.

Anyone know why CTU is concerning itself with housing students? As far as we know, CPS doesn't run any boarding schools or orphanages.

And since they're making $22,000 more than the average Chicagoan, why do they need housing assistance? Many already live outside the city in violation of existing ordinance and without the required waivers granted to certain specialists.

To all those questions and more, the head of their union says, "Shut up and give us money":

  • On that nasty subject of (dare I say this?) money, Gates was stridently indifferent.“They’re gonna say, ‘these are great proposals and can’t nobody pay for it and CTU with all of this, that and the other and who’s gonna pay for it, Stacy?’ ”

“Stop asking that question,” she said. “Ask another question.”

It's far past time to bring the teachers' union to heel. If police and fire can't strike because of public safety concerns, why shouldn't Springfield take away the CTU's ability to hold children and their education hostage for money?

And that's just for starters. How about something like Michigan (and many other states) did years ago and de-couple school funding from property taxes? Deprive them of unlimited taxpayer funding and Chicago might actually see some real changes.

Wait, you're wanting a Democrat supermajority legislature to TAKE AWAY power and money from CTU? I'm sorry but I just can't stop laughing. Please stop hitting the scotch before posting.

Here's what's actually gonna happen:

CTU will get most of their 142 page list of demands.

Bring Chicago Home will become law one way or another.

Anyone dumb enough to remain in Chicago by choice or unfortunate enough to have to stay will see a MASSIVE tax increase.

Last but not least, Chicago voters, those who can be bothered to vote anyway, will continue voting straight Democrat.

Beware the CTU

Tren de Aragua, meaning Aragua Train, started in 2012 among trade union members in the Aragua province of Venezuela who turned a planned railroad into an opportunity for grift, and has exploded since into a violent gang involved in robberies, drug dealing and human trafficking across South America.

OPPORTUNITIES

Waiting for the CTU to put the images of little minority children holding a bowl of mush with flies on their face like a kind of Hillary Clinton foundation ad of sorts to.envoke emotions asking "won't you please help" send your money to the stacey foundation.

CTU is more like a politically connected cartel isn't it?. the CTU runs conehead, conehead doesn't run the CTU. WATCH.

CTU is concerning themselves with homeless students because those kids aren't reliable sources of attendance income for the 5% occupied educational shitholes.

And they need to prove their 'it's fo da chillun's!' whenever they want something....

Fucking socialists - need to fire the lot of 'em. Be done with this bullshit once and for all.

Don't you just love how the city rules on residency requirements excuse is so Nobel. Like residency is necessary so that the taxpayers money stays within our communities. Then the city signs all these multi-million dollar contracts with out of state agencies to feed and provide health care for the illegals.

They call them NGOs but are nothing more than a proxy of the Democrat party

1) the appellate court said last week the referendum is valid and votes WILL be counted
2) Springfield ADDED more items the teachers are able to bargain for and thus, strike over, in a bill that was passed last year. No way they're going to turn around and say they can't strike over other certain issues.

The cps/ctu dynamic:

Cps is supposed to be Management/Employer.

Ctu is supposed to be Employee/Labor.

An inherently adversarial dynamic.

And yet, and yet, one hand appears to be washing the other.

With both hands jammed deeply into the pocketbooks of the taxpayers.

That be some seriously sticky soap they are washing their hands with.

"Many already live outside the city in violation of existing ordinance and without the required waivers granted to certain specialists."

Correct!!!

The BIG question is will these same CPS teachers that are violating the CPS Residency Policy be given housing assistance for fake addresses in Chicago?

This was the same type of question asked when a commuter tax from traveling into Chicago was talked about some years ago.

Ctu didn't "house" the students during the pandemic. We had to switch schools to have school and pay for it in addition to property taxes. We need pandemic reparations for those who were essential and not paid to stay home and watch their kids. Never forget how that went down. They thought it was deadlier and we were disposable.

A relative of mine is a CPS teacher who lives in Evanston. Her kids go to school in Evanston. Yet she thinks she is some kind of a saint because she teaches in Chicago, always whining because her $100,000+ salary for seven months of work is “a pittance.” Honestly, I am so sick of schoolteachers complaining about how “overworked and underpaid” they are when they have jobs where their calendar year is around nine months with 6-8 weeks of vacation during that time. I don’t care if you have to grade papers at home in front of the TV. Do you have any idea how many hours per week most corporate managers work - including taking work home and having to travel overnight.

As for “providing housing for unhoused students,” shouldn’t the teachers be calling Child Protective Services if they know a student is homeless? We already have programs to help these kids. We don’t need to throw even more money at them.

Stacy Davis-Gates has a hard time paying her bills at $260,000/year, so forced to live in South Bend.

Ms Gates asks: How do you expect a Governor State recent-graduate, starting 1st job at CPS at $63,000/year plus benefits to be able to afford Hyde Park condo, nails, and hair extensions?

And yet, average CPS employee earns far far more average Chicago resident.

Average ACT score for a CPS teacher is ACT 18. Someone that poorly educated is not likely to have been a competent college student, nor a competent teacher beyond Grade 5.

"Functional literacy" is NOT a requirement for employment as CPS teacher. There's no standardized testing, no minimum ACT or GRE score, no employee competence evaluations beyond confirmation of political allegiance.

When CPS clerks are making $95,000 a year then you know things are f*d up.

Gone are the days of the older clerk lady in orthopedic shoes, $5 a gallon perfume, and taking the bus to school. And replaced with modern day clerks that drive BMW's and own esthetician businesses on the side while living in $500,000 homes or are married to a politician.

Perfect example is Chuy Garvia's wife Evelyn and Ald. Napolitano's wife Aimee working at Taft High School. $53K to start and in less than 5 years, they're making $80,000+

To do this, the union is partnering with
@BringChiHome, a political organization spending millions of dollars pushing a "yes" vote on Johnson's tax hike proposal.

I expected to pay very high taxes, I have a 2 acre lot and a big house. 2k for property taxes. Yep. 2k to live in a great area with great schools. How the hell do those crooks at CTU get away with double pay for 1/10th the effort?

The Governor and legislators in Springfield are totally in the pocket of the teacher's unions. The state actually passed legislation that expanded the topics that could be included in collective bargaining for teachers, expanded it so that almost nothing is excluded. To those who work the beat around a public school, start enforcing the parking regulations. I can guarantee that most if not all of the illegally parked autos around the schools are owned by teachers.
