Rewarding bad behavior encourages what again? More bad behavior?
As police finally clear the anti-Israel encampment at the University of Chicago, and Northwestern University appeases its protesting occupiers, the Democratic National Convention set for August in the Windy City ticks ever closer.
Unsatiated protesters may have been cleared from some of their camps at college campuses, but the more lucrative target of national Democrats’ gathering to renominate President Joe Biden has many worried that the protests may only be getting started.
Although the two Chicago universities caved weakly to the strange demands of the anti-Israel protesters, Biden has not been well-received by the pro-Hamas youth.
The agitators’ slapping Biden with the nickname “Genocide Joe” and their joining pro-Israel protesters at UCLA and University of Alabama in chants of “F— Joe Biden” led many to suspect that stormy weather is in store for a left-wing political convention that is little more than three months away.
While we certainly hope that concerns are overblown the way they were back in 1996 when we were rookies, we're thinking more along the lines of 2012 NATO or the St George/transtifa 2020 national tour.
And as woefully under-prepared as we were for 2020, you can rest assured, this time it's much worse.

Why can’t the same amount of coppers skip work to goal hobby for some more money for our pension funds and for some more money for manpower would not that be close to the same or the same? I left my house at 6:30am to make time for traffic and any other obstacles that may arise. I also couldn’t believe how many morons came in the site with cellphones, smartwatches, hats…all items that were prohibited and listed in email, mailed literature, and the wire. How can one respect CPD or it’s ranks when the institution is corrupt to the core. Doors should have closed at 0900 as it was initially planned. The 3000 officers who arrived before 0900 are all suckers! We were not paid for waiting longer. Girl in front of me was allowed to wear a Michelin jacket with a hood because “it’s cold”. Cellphone alarm went off before the exam started few desks behind. Subject matter experts(merits/cheaters) lined up by the main entrance hugging all their test prepared friends. Just wink next time instead, why rub it in.

You're saying the FOP has no obligation to ensure their paying members have a fair opportunity at promotion, simply because it would result in them eventually being represented by a different collective bargaining unit? You are 100% wrong. The current promotion process exists due to negotiations between the city and FOP. The PB&PA has zero obligation to represent POs trying to get a promotion. That's what the FOP is for, since they'll still be a member of FOP until they're actually promoted. Those sergeants classes in the academy are full of FOP members in blue shirts. If FOP represents them, why wouldn't they represent the POs who haven't even made it that far? Until you're actually promoted, the FOP is responsible for ensuring that process is fair for their members. Please explain who represents POs who are seeking promotion to Sergeant. When you realize it's the FOP, and definitely not the PB&PA, you can just say you were wrong. If you think it's somehow neither, then they must be in some bargaining unit limbo. If you think it's the PB&PA, you're dead wrong. If you have some other opinion, please share it so that I can read exactly what it is you're trying to argue. This all started because you think POLICE OFFICERS aren't represented by the FOP simply because they're taking a promotional test. As stupid as that sounds, that was how this whole conversation started.

A blue shirt, including the ones in the academy waiting to be sworn to be a white shirt, is represented by FOP in all things until being sworn to be a white shirt, except for a promotional beef a blue shirt might have which is between them and the city. FOP is not going to spend my dues on lawyers to help that blue shirt leave their bargaining unit.

You were doing so well until that last part. The FOP represents every blue shirt trying to get promoted, up until they are actually promoted. If the city/department wrongs that blue shirt to prevent their promotion, the FOP will represent them with any grievance or other procedure to right the wrong. Just call the FOP and ask them. They might actually know the answer to this one. Why is the blue shirt represented by the FOP for everything but a promotional beef? How does that make sense to you? Why are they represented by FOP after being chosen for promotion and sent to the academy for training, but not before? If anything, the sergeants in training are trying harder to leave the FOP than any other blue shirt, and they're much closer to doing so. But the FOP still fully represents them in every aspect of their collective bargaining agreement with the city, including everything related to promotion. Let's say the department decides to remove one of those sergeants in training from that class and deem them no longer eligible for promotion for some reason. Now let's say that officer still wishes to be promoted and feels the department has wrongly determined not to promote them. You tell me who they contact for representation in this matter. You think they have to hire a lawyer on their own and fight the city? You think the FOP just says "sorry buddy, that's what you get for trying to leave us?" How are you this clueless about such a simple thing, when you've acknowledged that the FOP represents them up until they are actually promoted? What if someone is trying to leave the department entirely, and the department does something to interfere with that process? That officer would probably like to have that wrong righted, and that officer would still be represented by the FOP in that matter, up until they are no longer a member of the FOP. I'm sure you'll disagree, but you'd just be wrong again. Or maybe you'll agree, further cementing your complete misunderstanding of how it all works. Maybe you'll surprise me and say you were just kidding this whole time. Maybe you'll never respond. I await whatever nonsense you dream up this time.
