The Civilian Office of Police Accountability has opened a preliminary investigation into complaints against Chicago officers at a pro-Palestinian protest near the Art Institute of Chicago on Saturday, officials confirmed.
COPA opened a preliminary investigation to determine whether it or the police department’s Bureau of Internal Affairs will take over the inquiry into officer conduct.
CPD said COPA had its “full cooperation” for the investigation but didn’t comment further.
When the protestors grab fencing and wrestle with the police over it, then claim the cops were shoving the iron at them, it is a deliberate misinterpretation of events.
But it's a deliberate manipulation that has worked in lawsuits and settlements before. And with the SAIC refusing to press charges or apply sanctions against the lawbreaking protestors, the only people that will be accused of wrongdoing are....the police.

The main goal of these protests is to try to get the police to take action, so that they may be sued and disciplined. Even if you do everything right, and it's all on video, there will be a settlement, and you'll look like the bad guys. The city will pay millions to avoid fighting lawsuits, and the blame will fall on the police, as if they are guilty of the things alleged in the lawsuits. The media will report it without admitting the police did nothing wrong, and will paint them as civil rights violators and abusers of power. COPA will do everything they can to try to get officers fired.

I watched the video. This is NOT a criticism of the officers in the video. They were in an impossible situation.
The City has the police playing by the rules of engagement. The protesters which are misnamed are really terrorists because of their conduct and actions which are definitely threatening. The terrorists do not play by the “Marquis of Queensbury Rules”! They play by the tactics of guerrilla warfare. Remember this is Antifa running this, and many are paid to do this.
The police are easily identifiable with star numbers, name tags and everyone of the terrorists are filming every action of the police. I doubt CPD has hundred of videographers filming the terrorists. And what good would it do as most of the terrorists are masked.
The terrorists through identifying the police have the ability to file complaints and are keeping data bases to dox them. The police don’t have the ability to identify vast numbers of terrorists unless they make an arrest.
The police are in an impossible position with excessive oversight by the CPD, COPA, the City, State’s Attorney, US Attorney, law firms itching to make money for themselves, ACLU, the media and the list goes one. I don’t believe the terrorists have any oversight!!!!
Then there are the politicians, especially the Marxists who identify with the terrorists who won’t put a stop to this. And while all this was going on Biden flew into Chicago and disrupted traffic to pickup some donor checks at a fund raiser in the Loop.

Bingo. I used to be someone people would call a hard charger. Brought in a number of good arrests. Now, I’m afraid to do anything. Unless I absolutely have to do something, I won’t anymore. They’ve made the risk of doing anything so great that I won’t engage with anyone unless absolutely necessary. And even when I have to, I don’t want to and am worried if I do the littlest thing wrong or something looks wrong on body cam that copa will come after me. This is not how policing should be. It’s making good police officers do nothing!

Have the community service officers go out every day to all the businesses in their districts that will encompass the DNC and inform them not to expect any police service if they don't sign complaints. 7. Scam then proceeds to it's process, culminating in taxpayers':money being 'legally' pilfered.

That's not how it works. You can't arrest someone just because a supervisor said to arrest them. You need to articulate probable cause for the arrest on your arrest report. If you arrest someone, you are responsible for justifying that arrest. "My boss said so" doesn't cut it and won't cover you against any complaints, lawsuits, discipline, or termination. You should know this if you're actually out there making arrests. You should probably know it before taking the job in the first place. If you don't believe there is probable cause for an arrest, and you make the arrest anyway, regardless of who said to make the arrest, you're on the hook for the false arrest, and any force used to make the false arrest.
If a Paul Kersey decides to drive by and "spray" these anarchists, CPD better let him be and enjoy the show.

They exist but are not often used. Might be a stretch but may be worth the try. Put a judge in the middle.
A John Doe warrant is an arrest warrant for an individual whose name is not known to law enforcement. These types of warrants may be issued by a court for an individual known by sight but not by name. This type of warrant may also be issued when a crime scene yields DNA evidence of the suspect.

That's not how it works. You can't arrest someone just because a supervisor said to arrest them. You need to articulate probable cause for the arrest on your arrest report. If you arrest someone, you are responsible for justifying that arrest. "My boss said so" doesn't cut it and won't cover you against any complaints, lawsuits, discipline, or termination. You should know this if you're actually out there making arrests. You should probably know it before taking the job in the first place. If you don't believe there is probable cause for an arrest, and you make the arrest anyway, regardless of who said to make the arrest, you're on the hook for the false arrest, and any force used to make the false arrest.

It should be drilled into police officers heads to know the Color of Law.
If a supervisor gives you a direct order to take police action, you do not have to obey. Especially when you know what the supervisor wants you to do is wrong. Because you, and only you, will be liable in the legal world. Let the moronic supervisor get a CR on you for not following their illegal order. You can beat that.

If you have the complainant / victim on video saying they will pursue charges, then yes, you can pull up your big girl panties and do your job. If they fight back, you do what you have to, use force, charge accordingly. It’s absolutely amazing that people like you are even on the job that just want to hide on medical, cry about everything, talk about how bad everything is and yet you can’t even articulate a simple “this is why I arrested this person or had to use force” report. No shit the complainant won’t be liable for your use of force. They will be liable for why you were there in the first place or why you were affecting an arrest. If the Offender escalates the situation, that’s on them, but you’ll just cry afterward anyway. "Pussy" is an insult generally used to describe a male who exhibits cowardly characteristics. It is not meant to suggest that you don't have male genitalia, only that you act as if you don't. You can be a pussy and still step on your dick. I hope this helps you understand, pussy.
