Rules Reminder
Now might be a good time for everyone to review the Rules posted in the right hand margin. They're pretty simple and easy to follow, but it seems a lot of commenters are running afoul of what makes our job easier to bring you entertainment.
Like stuff typed in ALL CAPS - it's considered yelling and we don't post any of it. Same with "straw man" arguments, "wall of text" posts, etc. Also, putting multiple "hard returns" at the end of a comment, leaving a giant space of dead air, messes with the moderation screen, so we're just deleting them all.
We would also remind readers that if you put the same comment in multiple times OR you copy/paste the same comment in multiple threads, the eBlogger program thinks you're an Ad-Bot and marks everything you post from your IP address as spam - and we do mean everything from that point forward. We never see it unless we go to the spam folder. Just so you know, we do that once a year....maybe. So if you aren't seeing your comment, the AI probably banned you, not us.

Downstate commenter here. Just wanted to say that when I tell people to be thankful that they don't live in Chicago/Cook County, I sometimes recommend your site to them. So they can see what normal people have to put up with up there.

Convention questions: what day do the 12 hours start, duration? Who gets sent down? 3rd watch? 1st and 2nd cover the district? What's the difference between tier 1 (3 day ffo training) tier 2 (2 day) or no training yet? Cta buses? Meet at districts or other usual spot? Is there a plan?

Hey SCC have you heard of the rumor that two districts had the actual test the day before the Sgt’s test? Apparently two of the commanders had the exact test for part 1. POs on the in were told this was only a practice test.

So Carlos Ramirez-Rosa has introduced a voter referendum expanding the size and powers of the Commission for Public Safety and Accountability. He wants them to have subpoena powers, access to all records, reports, and data, etc. He wants to remove power from the mayor to appoint members, as well as the Superintendent, head of COPA, and Police Board. It also drastically reduces eligibility requirements yet wants to basically give them power to run the Department and dictate policy.

Hey,thanks for reminding us . Hope on not on the banned list.
For all the young police officers , back in the day ,a federal judge required quotas for all future promotions to Sgt.Lt.
All of us that studied were really mad. In hindsight at least the city was required to promote police officers in Rank Order from a posted Civil Service List. So everyone that was a quota Sgt or Lt passed the test with a score of 70% or better.
Also if this federal judge saw what’s going on today,I’m sure he would’ve agreed with us. There was never any discrimination,these quota promotions were people that failed to study,unqualified to supervise police officers.
Look at today, police officers of every sex,race are discriminated against by the black politicians in Chicago.
Lower standards for passing score of 59%,but the worst part is ,that 59% counts as a 100% going into part two.
So no matter what race , gender you are. If you studied,scored above 70% ,you are screwed unless of course you’re screwing someone,making political donations or have private tutoring from command staff to prepare for the Oral exam. Oral exams should be video taped . We’d all like to see how well these merit promotional selections did.
I don’t mean the private tutoring,just the exam.
Karma is a bitch many cops that wrote other cops on a consistent basis have ended up fired for domestic, stealing , dui, to name a few things and everyone wanted guess what? A break for being a cop...........

Tribune had an editorial today mocking the whole “Justice impacted individual” thing. Since it has already passed both the house and senate they’re encouraging Pritzker to use his power to amend the language . Ends with this …
Crime has consequences. Crime has victims. Can you imagine being the victim of a serious crime and discovering that the person who committed it was not only not in prison but no longer even called an offender? Most Illinoisans not in the throes of doublethink can. If Pritzker lets this one go, a governor with presidential ambitions might be hearing the phrase repeated ad infinitum in attack ads. He would be wise to use his line-item veto to head off that potential Willie Horton-style campaign.

Unless he had a known condition and was under a doctor's care, there's absolutely no way they'd have a COD yet on a sudden death.

Speaking of AI, just think if AI restricted the department and the bosses as well as other units with who AI thought would be the best people in each slot. I fucking guarantee you most every spot held by an exempt would be gone.
The Police use their discretion on traffic stops and al lot of times civilians catch a break. No reason to write a P.O who is RESPECTFUL! We are all Blue and hated. We need each other. This officer in 019 doesn’t get it.
