You Know What We Need?
A force that operates during the warm weather.
A force, versatile enough to respond to all sorts of incidents on the lakefront, where millions go every year as the weather warms up.
- Chicago city leaders say they are increasing police and safety patrols along the lakefront since crowds have flocked to the shoreline with the stunning weather.
CBS 2 saw a few people turned away because they were trying to bring in alcohol. It's one result of the increased police presence as the city tries to prevent more significant problems.
We could call it the Warm Weather Versatile Force.
Too bad manpower shortages (and house mouse over-staffing) won't allow CPD to patrol the beaches effectively.
(yeah, we know SMF didn't usually start until Memorial Day, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know a warm stretch of weekend days means extra thousands of people in lakefront Districts)

Close the beach
The Moist and Muggy Monitors of Mayhem.
Having to detail 6 tact teams to handle the beaches is a huge drain on resources that could be used in their own districts.
Seems Allied Security won the contract to protect the PSTC. How long before we see a repeat of '78 when the LKs sacked the Humboldt Park armory? Imagine the firepower from that armory going out the back door onto the streets to be used against the Edison Park and Mt greenwood faithful. The horror!
Well....back in the day...we used to have a detail for officers to work the lakefront, during peak hours.
It wasn't an easy detail to get, as details were quite limited.
They handled the lakefront.
Cars, bikes, and PAPV's. Confiscated alcohol got "destroyed " at the end of the night. And all went well.
What a novel idea, the only objection is the name. You could not call it a force. You're only going to see visions of police brutality.
You know what I need?
A double cheeseburger from Au Cheval.
On the FLOP credit card, of course.
sMF had good beach parties too.
Wait till da yutes and lil capones start busting caps on one another cuz day dint gets no respect dats when da fun begins
I'm getting old. The very last place I want to be is at the lakefront, elbow to elbow, with the "crowds".
Since they cut overtime I’ve been spending more time at home. When it returns I will not be signing up. Good luck out there.
We need a miracle…..
I was a member of the elite Mobile Strike Force. We worked city wide and it was a fun experience. The bosses loved us and took care of us- lots of early ducks. But only if you were a worker. Some guys even got tatoos. Unfortunately, this city is lost. The bosses will never allow us to do the dirty work necessary to keep people safe.
Bring back the three wheeled Harleys with the "cooler" in the rear.
Be careful.
You can’t talk badly about hose mouses. They’ll slam you like that ex wagon guy.
Manpower will always be short no matter what they do. Democrats have made the job very very risky physically and financially and forcing residency in a huge negative for potential candidates living outside Chicago. Cops are treated like shit.
Summer Mobile parties were the best. My first was at 12th Street beach in 91. Kept a pirate patch in the glove box so I wouldn't see double when driving home.
I heard all those liberal social workers just love being by the lake,,,, so send all of them there
Summer mobile...or M.S.F. or T.R.U...
What a great way to blow off an entire summer of police work. They should bring that back. Of course it will have to be a lot smaller.
Good times...
Wait just a minute now, we were told crime has no correlation to weather in Chicago.
Overtime is the key to any safety plan.
When a person is arrested, the amount of paperwork is horrific.
It sucks but that’s what weak leaders were told to do by non for profit organizations, academics, and law firms connected by graft.
America
Hey, I saw CWB. That guy didn't need you, he took care of it with his SUV...
If only our CURRENT folks can do their job AND have the court/corrections system do their part...... oh wait, that's too hard. Blame the cops! lol I hate this job each day a tad more than the day prior.
If “The Heat” has returned to the lakefront, then it may be time to close the beach!
"""Summer Mobile parties were the best. My first was at 12th Street beach in 91. Kept a pirate patch in the glove box so I wouldn't see double when driving home."""
Yeah first thing that popped into my brain, fuck police work. I miss skinny dipping drunk with the broads. That and teaching them proper shooting techniques. The Lakefron should have been renames "Boyz will be Boyz ave", at least in the summer.
Then that Federal prick came in and ruined everything. Theres nothing worse then a party pooper. The fuck you want to "change the culture" for when everyone was having fun, fun, fun ???
My first summer as a Det I was sent to the SMF.
It was the nicest summer I had OTJ.
Wait till the illegals discover the treasure's there...
My best single assignment on the job was the year I got voluntold for Summer Mobile. I got dragged in kicking and screaming and then hated it when I was over. The beach party at the end was fantastic
Let me wear shorts again and maybe I'll get out of the car
You can start by getting rid of tac , Homan Square, gangs , narcotics, caps , dco and the list goes on and on. This job could be extremely easy if the bosses woke up. Fill every beat car. Put those who want to work on rapids. Respond to calls of service and call it a day. We don't have a manpower problem. We have a house mouse problem.
"Elite" my ass!
The temperatures will be in the 80s this week. Rahm Emanuel would shut down North Avenue Beach because of a ‘heat emergency.’ Never got chased off the beach because of high heat. That’s why people jumped in the water. Must’ve been something the public wasn’t told about…

Smiley Happy Impressive Terrific Squad? ok then?
Maybe CIRT can sit around and do nothing. You have a CIRT u it downtown yet they do zero. No activity, no arrests nothing. The bikes are the only useful part. Otherwise CIRT stands around at protests and drives right by crime downtown. Last week a group of 6 or 7 of the south or west side finest were just sitting on and around their car with music blasting drinking and smoking weed out in the open. 100-200 feet away was 2 officers from city parked sitting on their car with heads down in their phones. I was off duty taking the wife and kids downtown. It absolutely disgusted me. A waste of a unit. Now that Rubio is gone, maybe put someone in charge of it that can bring in competent and good officers who want to arrest people. Otherwise the CIRT scarecrows will continue to do nothing downtown. And they just gave that unit 10 hour days??? For what?? To look at protestors but still have tac teams assigned to actually deal with the protests? A waste.
A platoon of Paul Kersey....
This song comes to mind when the beaches in Chicago open.

"elite" yea,,,o-k,,,, if you say so,,,,, don't forget how the city took care of all you "elites" when they disbanded MSF and TRU,,,, sent to far away districts and not the one you came from
Remember when we had 3rd of July fireworks and the taste of chicago attended by about 800,000 people and we took care of business. The bosses standing there right next to us. This year marks the 30th year anniversary of when I was in the academy with about 1,000 others including metro classes and CHA. The memories of better times.. 94-4
Attended many Summer Mobile parties at 12th St and Montrose Beaches working as a lifeguard from 1985- 1990. We were always invited because we would open the beach house for the cops. Some of the wildest parties I ever attended. Good times from my youth.

Elite? GTFOH 😂
Nothing “elite” about any unit, unless you’re a fucking Seal or Ranger!
Elite 😂😂😂
Saw a picture on FB a few weeks ago of North Ave beach in the 80's... packed, hot sunny day, amazingly enough, no fights....
Wonder what was different back then....
OT: Always nice when the leftist fucks get it back nice and hard...

Anyhoo, how long until the local condo dwellers getting their trash cans stolen decide to start having conversations with their Aldercritter? LOL...
Millions of dollars spent on "Violence Interrupters" - maybe they can deploy them to the lakefront since that's where all dem poor mifunderstood yufths have gone to cool off....
I wish they all could be california girls....
Worked 3rd watch at 018 for 15 years. It get's worse every year, I will not go Downtown Dude destroyed it.
“Some guys even got tattoos”….
Holy shit dude. That’s so cool.
The Answer: BAYWATCH with Badges and Pistols!
( I have a crush on Alexandra Paul.)
Summer Mobile was a great group of guys and girls not necessarily all coppers

The politicians and activists/poverty pimps allowed Dude to destroy it.
Will the Keesing Bandit design the FABULOUS Uniforms and ostentatious insignia this Elite Unit will require?

A ball of string, a moist cloth and a dab of aloe vera gel.
