Big Brother Always Watching
- Summons have been sent to the Illinois State Police, Attorney General
Kwame Raoul and Gov. J.B. Pritzker in a case challenging the use of
automatic license plate reading cameras across the state.
On Thursday in the Northern District of Illinois federal court, the Liberty Justice Center filed the lawsuit. Reilly Stephens, counsel on the case, said the ALPRs are virtually everywhere.
“Every time you drive on one of these expressways, they are tracking every time you go past one of these cameras,” he said. “They’re feeding that into a national database which is shared by thousands of law enforcement agencies across the country.”
In January of this year, ISP said they were increasing the use of technology to “target and track criminal activity.”
“Automated License Plate Readers (ALPRs) capture a visual of vehicle license plates and anytime a wanted or suspected vehicle is detected by an ALPR, an alert is issued and law enforcement are better able to locate and track the vehicle,” the agency said.
Except that's not all their doing. They're storing the license info in a database that can be accessed at a later should something pop up. Maybe a shooting, maybe a road rage incident, maybe (as the Liberty Justice Center suspects) headed to-or-from a political rally for someone who fata$$ doesn't like.
The government collects far too much data on everything and everyone, and then spends waaaaay too much tax money on storage companies - all of whom seem to be political contributors to Fata$$ and his buddies.

These people are morons!,,, yeah law enforcement gives a fuck about u going back and forth to a political rally. These morons don’t have a problem with FakeBook or X or any of the other apps tracking them just not law enforcement .
They can also keep track of your speed between points if they want. Maybe your auto insurer would like that information to up your rates.
My Divvy bike does not have a license plate.
Now, kees me you fool!!!!
Ewww, maybe another class action lawsuit?? I would love if the state of Illinois had to pay me for laws they impose on other companies. If my Nest security camera can’t store my own picture for facial recognition, why should Fred flintstone record my license plate??
Democrats are sickening 🤮
In other towns/states I've seen cops driving up and down side streets with the readers pointing in all directions. A leafy white little town too across the lake from you...
There's maybe 2 Troopers working the X-ways these days. I doubt they are watching these cameras for to “target and track criminal activity.”
Orwell was so right.
Two Chicagoans have filed a federal lawsuit seeking to end the use of license plate readers by police agencies in Illinois.
Damn I just sped to drop my deuce
Fat ass is violating everyone’s 1st Amendment rights.
Stay away from the bath houses, dope spots.
how about putting cameras on the 290 in and near Chicago to give tickets to all the shoulder riders????? lots of money to be made there
We still have not received our test results. What the fuck is going on? Part two of the exam is on June 9th. So is the test still going to happen on June 9th?
Two major events are happening on that day; the Puerto Rican fest and parade and the Bank Of America half marathon. I can't believe the CPD was this stupid.
Soooo let me get this right. The city is taking tax money and supplying a service to only certain parts of the city and for certain citizens. Is that legal?
The government is violating 1st Amendment rights. Where are the Oath Keepers when we need them?
The reason for the surveillance state is about protecting the global elite. You may be able to get one or two of them, but you’ll get caught. Really no way to avoid it, as every move can be tracked. This prevents any large scale organization against them. Eventually, our billionaire globalist overlords will live in safe, secluded locations while we’re depopulated to a level that serves to fulfill their needs.
The worthless car jacking team would have to go back on the street without it
NSA scoops up every piece of digital communication in America, telephone calls (all digital now), emails, text messages, everything that goes over the internet, all of it, and stores it in massive data facilities. Literally hundreds of FBI contractors conduct name searches on it all the time looking for whatever they want for whatever name they choose to search. There was (is?) even a terminal in the Perkins Coie law office to conduct searches of the NSA database from there. All of this without any search warrants ever being issued. Sure, sometimes they get a two-hop FISA warrant, but by that time the warrant just legitimizes what they already have. It's only a short hop from that to collecting, storing, and searching all your travel data for any or no reason through license plate readers. The Fourth Amendment was murdered 20 years ago. RIP
"Two major events are happening on that day; the Puerto Rican fest and parade and the Bank Of America half marathon. I can't believe the CPD was this stupid"
I can. It's to be expected at this point.
We still haven’t received test results…
6/03/2024 06:20:00 AM
Someone sent me this:
“Just so this sinks in. 850 Sgts were made of the the Sgts list 2 test ago. Plus 255 Sgts that were made of merit.
That means 1,105 new Sgts were made from 2 test ago.
From the last Sgts test. They have made 150 from that list plus 45 merit Sgts. If you add those numbers up.
That's 1,300 new Sgts made from the last 2 test. I believe the department has around 1,350 slots for Sgts. Since 1,300 are all new Sgts. You have to score in the Top 50 lf you want to get promoted because you still have to consider 30% percent merit Sgts that will be made.
Unless your the smartest officer in your district or have a phone call for merit. You have to be Realistic. Look up the Sgts numbers that have been made. You will see they just practically filled most of the Sgt spots.”
Great tool for divorce lawyers
but by golly that border? Cant be done. What shall we do?
Plate readers pick up everything. Parked cars with suspended licenses. Cars that pop as stolen but when you run it for a stolen/lost it’s a plate lost 4 years ago. The plate readers are just static now that gets tuned out.
Have to look into the phantom plate cover and or clear coat reflective paint.
It goes off for Canadian vehicle. wtf is that?
Watch the movie “V for vendetta” everything that happened the past 5 years is played out in a movie from 2005. Great movie foreshadowing what’s to come.

So, you really did just try to compare rotten apples with ripening gang banger plums?
As if use and misuse are synonyms?
Impressive contortioning there.
Can you also lick your own sack?
the federal department of transportation head leader, no pun intended, Mr bootygig, would say those cameras are racist!!
We all carry tracking devices. They are called cell phones. The cell phone companies, collect store and cell this data....even to law enforcement.
Attorneys are going FOIA Genetec and post license plates that have been targeted.
I can't complain. I got my stolen car back thanks to a ALPR mounted on a patrol car. The thief was letting the car "cool off" in case I had a tracker on it, which I didn't at the time. My wife both left the car unlocked and the key on the console. Had to pay $200 to get the car's computer reprogrammed so the lost key was disabled.
Well they do wear brown shirts....
Alpr and shot spotter. Two of the most useful tech advances I have seen in my career. Good for catching people who break the laws. Aka criminals.

its amazing how many emergency vehicles I see with their lights on for no reason also.
Test results? HaHaHa P.O.s keep whining that they haven't received their test results. They are far to stupid to be a Sgt.! Do they really think test results have anything at all to do with your possible promotion? Look at our beloved muscle bound leader. A true dimwit who has NEVER passed a promotional test and yet, there he is glistening with stars and unearned medals, looking like the doorman at the Drake Hotel. You can bet that his flock of ass kissing, drooling Exempts never spent a moment worrying about "test scores".

at least the city is spending it on a certain section of TAXPAYERS, not just wasting 100's of millions on illegals who haven't contributed a nickel. I can't wait till that covid money is gone. chicago is gonna be in bad shape financially
You are already tracked by your phone, credit cards, social media. People complain about plate reader but post their daily movements on social media
A few years ago read about a public meeting where a police spokesman was touting the benefits of plate readers in catching wanted people, like deadbeat parents and how the plate readers were doing a great job. When asked how many criminals were caught using this wonderful vital system, he had no idea.
If the system was a positive asset the numbers would have been had.
Get some popcorn, another event in the Oppression Olympics...

And what about I PASS it does the same thing ?

They already do it's called Alexa. Many homes have them and they are always listening. If that's not bad enough your cell phone is always listening as well. You talk about a product lets say Tesla vehicles and 30 minutes later you see ads on your cell for Tesla.
Pretty hard these days to stay off the grid.
Weren’t you FOR a gang database?

Known criminals versus a massive intelligence collection net that includes most citizens who aren't criminals.
Plate Readers are a huge tool for Law Enforcement. Anyone in investigations knows this. The government can read through all of my shit nothing to hide. And they already track your speed through I-Pass.
Soooo let me get this right. The city is taking tax money and supplying a service to only certain parts of the city and for certain citizens. Is that legal?

Redistribution of wealth. Any communist will tell you that it's perfectly okay.
A couple of years ago, my wife's purse was snatched in a grocery store parking lot near the interstate that lowlifes from a nearby large city use to commit crimes in our town and then escape back home. There are LPR cameras at the access points to the highway.
She called in the vehicle's tag number, and it was quickly tracked. A couple of druggies were arrested and one eventually committed suicide in jail (Sorry - not sorry.). The purse was recovered intact.
The highways and byways are like a race track assholes being assholes
and nary a cop in sight no fucks to give
It doesn't bother me. Then again, I follow the law.
Everything is being watched. Your car can be tracked, you have a body camera, there's also POD cameras too. Residents have Ring cameras and various other security cameras systems.
The ACLU has lawsuits (of course) against law enforcement agencies for disproportionate use of ALPRs in low income and minority communities. What the FLOCK?
Hello anyone at city hall or cpd part of our test committee? We need a notice to report for Sgt exam via US mail. It's Monday. Even if you email just show up without a part 1 score, that's fine, but an email notification does not. Quite the pickle now.
It is really bad in the UK. Your face and license plate is recorded on a TV camera at least 7 times a day.

It helps solve crime and is a huge part of many shootings and homicide investigations. Again, if you are a law abiding citizen, nothing to worry about. LPRs are key to help solve cases.

travel data for any or no reason through license plate readers. The Fourth Amendment was murdered 20 years ago. RIP
6/03/2024 07:57:00 AM
The 4th amendment was murdered nearly 40 years ago when MADD got you (on bosses orders) to,start setting up drunk driving roadblocks. I know all the twisted legal logic they use to say stopping everybody and “searching” them by calling it a safety inspection is bullshit. The founding fathers would be rolling in their graves if they knew that police were legally stopping people on roads looking for crime.
I’m so fucking sick of every time some mother loses a kid she has to make it “mean” something by getting a law passed (usually named after her kid) that takes away our rights to make sure it never happens again and if it saves “just one life” it’s worth the sacrifice. Examples: NewTown parents, moms for gun safety etc.
I’ve developed a theory that every time a law has a name attached to it somebody’s rights are getting fucked.
While I may be in the minority in accepting and promoting LPR's and related type license plate readers/recorders, as a retired member with forty years of active service, I'm all for anything that helps our active and follow-up members do their job.
Like 'shot-spotter' for example, the CPD has numerous results where it tracked down felons and carjacked vehicles as a result of this technology. It's not only an investigative tool, more importantly it's a safety issue as well.
The left, woke, liberal, people/folks (repetitive, I know) will always object and/or sue to limit anything positive for law enforcement, yet be the first to complain when 'they' are victimized.
I still pray on a daily basis for ALL my brothers and sisters of law enforcement and fellow first-responders for a healthy and safe return home from their tours.
If this tool makes it possible for that desired end result, I'm all for it.
Stay safe my friends and may our good God watch over each and every one of you.
Amen.

Takimag has a good but depressing blog, article about the British Nanny State sending their thought police inside the home of a Cis English Christian who was onset that Islamic extremist murdered an Orthodox Christian priest in Australia on a live feed.

These leftist media hacks were publishing the home address of officer Wilson and his family to alert BLM , Antifa mobs to attack and possibly murder officer Wilson and his family .
I republished the name and home addresses ( doxing ) of these as# hole would be cop killers media sh””’ here in Chicago but included strict instructions not to do anything illegal or violent but just to let their neighbors and local law enforcement know what sh&$ communists posing as journalists lived amongs them.
My actions were the kind of things Mayor Daley Sr and Nixon ‘s dirty tricks underlings or even that queer FBI director Hoover used to do to the worst Reds, Communists, Black street gangs turned political terrorists.
Hey, IMO it is better to have “ doxed and lost “ to better financed Anti American Communists like the SPLC than never to have doxed like all the milk toast coarsly pole up their as&es Conservatives who never do anything besides bitching and moaning about their high $ taxes.
Yep, I highly recommend learning to dox.

Way off topic here, but the link here is a video of a press conference given in Minnesota today. A Minnesota state trooper was previously charged with first degree murder for justifiably shooting a motorist who tried to kill two officers after realizing he was about to go to jail again. The murder charge was finally dropped by the "progressive" county prosecutor. The link is of the press conference given after the charge was dropped by the officer's defense attorney who eviscerates the county prosecutor, the case against the officer, the offender, the media, those who have threatened the officer and his family, and those who think the officer is anything but a hero. The attorney is wearing a t-shirt with what looks like a drawing of one of our Founding Fathers President John Adams.
Well worth the 30 minutes.

It is really bad in the UK. Your face and license plate is recorded on a TV camera at least 7 times a day.
6/03/2024 01:29Adam's.
That's because Britain is not a democracy. It is a parliamentary system operating within a kingdom. Citizens do not vote for their prime minister. They vote for a Minister of Parliament (MP) and all the MPs then vote for the Prime Minister. Also in Britain, they do not have a set schedule for ministerial elections. Once in office, the Prime Minister (with his political party) has 5 years to call a general election of all MPs. That is why the popularity polls are so important. They can call an election anytime during those 5 years when they are doing well in the polls, and if elected again, they have another 5 years of power. However, if they are crappy over a full five years, then an election is held.
And their name, UK or United Kingdom, is still a "kingdom" which was rejected here in 1776. The kingdom is united in name only. Not all in england, Scotland, Wales, and the gerrymandered state in the north of Ireland want to be part of that kingdom.
Yep, video cameras are everywhere over there to help preserve their "empire".
Except that's not all their doing. They're storing the license info in a database that can be accessed at a later should something pop up. Maybe a shooting, maybe a road rage incident, maybe (as the Liberty Justice Center suspects) headed to-or-from a political rally for someone who fata$$ doesn't like.
J-6 is an example to what lengths the leftists will go to in order to track and nail conservatives. Bad people are in control of the levers of power right now, Bathhouse Barry is still working behind the scenes pulling FJB’s strings. If they aren’t worried about bending and breaking the rules to imprison orange man bad, they will certainly go after John Q. Public with that same fervor.
Please cover Streeterville beating incident from last Friday night 8:30 pm at McClurg/Grand. White couple, wife miscarried as a result of beating. Not robbery, appears to be clearcut hate-crime committed by two or more black teenagers yelling about "owning the streets" etc. Apparently not a robbery per se, violence motivated by apparent racial hatred towards this young white happy couple out on a date.
Foxx apparently only willing to authorize misdemeanor charges.
Sad sad story, and of course, only crickets from Mayor Johnson and his administration.
This story should get more attention than that dead gangbanger-drug dealer gun-toting Derrick.
I wish they would challenge the red light cameras and speed cameras too

Like the Nine Digit Midget said “ You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that it’s an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.”

The states attorney the governor the mayor. Every last one of them is responsible may this woman and this man recover may these animals meet Mr. Mayham somewhere on the street and we come and scoop them up throw them in the back of the garbage truck or or wherever throw them in the ground dirt nap ends there sickness forever
Only criminals should be worried about it. Same goes with Shotspotter and Gang Database.
6/03/2024 09:37:00 PM
That's a good little sheep. If you don't fire shots in its vicinity, shotspotter has zero effect on you, and doesn't know you even exist. If you aren't arrested while part of a gang, the gang database has zero effect on you, and doesn't even know you exist. Cameras recording your vehicle and its location at all times, as you legally go about your business, is a very different thing. If your car was captured in the area of a serious crime, maybe you'll now be under suspicion, when you've never even dreamed of committing a crime. I won't even get into the fact that almost any info captured by these cameras is shared or sold to various third parties for whatever purpose. Let the police search your house, car, person, property anytime they wish, because you don't have anything to worry about unless you're a criminal. Just let them install cameras in your home to monitor you. If you're not a criminal, what's the problem? Let them tap your phones and listen to all your private conversations, because you're not a criminal, so why worry? Just let the government watch and record and hear everything you do at all times, just waiting for you to step across the ever-changing line in the sand. We already saw some pretty clear examples of government overreach and outright corruption in recent years. And you want to just let them constantly monitor everyone until they decide one of their subjects has stepped out of line. If you're not a criminal, you don't need to worry, until they decide that you are a criminal.
its amazing how many emergency vehicles I see with their lights on for no reason also.
6/03/2024 09:11:00 AM
What magical power did you use to determine that their lights were on for no reason? Are you monitoring all the encrypted radio frequencies? Are you able to read minds? Do you know what's happening everywhere at all times? Do you understand that emergency vehicles don't have to abide by the traffic laws for various reasons? Are you aware that am officer could be heading to a call and then no longer need to go to that call? Did you know the police can use their lights and drive on the shoulder to catch up to a car they saw violating traffic laws just to run the plate and not have to tell you about it or pull that car over? So many legitimate reasons that those lights could be activated, and none of them available to you, but you've somehow decided you know it's all for no reason. Are you a very wealthy psychic?
Only thing Pete BUTT-igieg knows about transportation is that he has been rear ended numerous times…
6/03/2024 09:12:00 PM
To be fair Pete Butt-gig knows all about hanging around rest areas for "social engagements".
In general I have no problem with plate readers.
It is their use to create lists of usual suspects with no oversite that bothers me.
I have heard of departments trolling the parking lots at gun shows, creating their own database of "extremists" to give special attention to.
I have no beef with a gang database, as long as the people on that list broke the law.
When databases of "potential criminals" are made for no reason other than someone going to a gun show or attending a political rally, I feel a line has been crossed.
As far as "Don't break the law and you have nothing to worry about."
We are well in to Soviet era "Show me the man and I will find you the crime." territory.
More and more it reminds me of the old UK tv show The Prisoner.
