Big Check Error?
Numerous persons telling us that they are receiving letters from the Pension Board that the City screwed up the retro checks from 01 January 2022.
The City failed to calculate and withhold the 9% pension contribution resulting in many people falling short of their required contributions.
What's frosting a bunch of peoples' asses is that they're being charged interest for the City's screw-up. The totals being quoted to us range from just over $100 to $600, obviously depending on how much retro you got. The payment is calculated on 9% of your salary plus duty availability.
Are they firing anyone at Finance for this string of disasters?
UPDATE: It's supposed to be over 3,000 coppers who are in the Tier 2 pension. We still don't see how they charge them interest on an error the City made.

Took them this long to find out and take action? Who the fuck is running the pension fund? They all need to be fired.
So it took the pension board two plus years to realize this screw up by the city? So either the pension board is incompetent at their jobs, or they knew about this early on and decided to let time pass in order to collect interest. Either way the city fucked up and the pension board fucked up, so why should officers pay anything back, especially with interest.

I received a letter the other day. Unlike the city, I have no issue paying my part of the pension however, they owe the penalty, 100%. This is also especially retarded on the side of the pension board because they are seeking contributions for salaries I never received in several calendar years as it was all received in 2022 and never thought to do anything about it then. It took a year and a half to figure out this was an issue that needed to be fixed?
I personally called the city and pension board when I noticed my paycheck was off near the end of 2022 and she my pension contributions stopped being taken out. They were aware of the problem. Nobody gave a fuck back then or would do anything that would cause their brain cells to rub together for more than the length it took them to tell me "well it will probably screw you over when you go to retire but we can't do anything".
So not only are we on the hook for interst for someone else's fuck up, we all paid state and federal income taxes on the money in 2022 that is now owed because the city and FOP couldn't get an agreement for 5 fucking yesrs.
I'm impressed this city runs at all.

This city is filled with incompetent idiots that couldn’t get hired as an overnight cashier at a gas station. Week after week the checks are fucked up with them not paying taxes, pension contributions and union dues. The city at this point might as well hire an outside accounting firm to do payroll .

Fop told me when I called it’s a legit error and obligated to pay it. It’s non contractual and they won’t be doing anything to fight it for us. What the fuck do we pay dues for?

I am not a LEO, but relative of one work and I work for a corporation. The government is responsible for the fine. Also, it is not socialism. When is the first (and last) time you have EVER heard that private companies' pensions are underfunded. None because it does not happen. Corporations have moved away from them...but honor them.

Both contributions being negotiated and agreed to by both employees and employers.

Nope, they sent you a certified envelope... but it was empty! The only way to prove you got a specific document is by being served with it. Then the PROCESS SERVER testifies to it and it's accepted as primae facia evidence...
