Hey look, something for the IG to look into (instead of wasting time an already completed investigation over non-existent "extremism"):
A civilian oversight panel voted unanimously Monday to push Chicago’s independent watchdog to probe “the quality and integrity” of investigations led by the Civilian Office of Police Accountability and allegations of retaliation against whistleblowers.
Anthony Driver, president of the Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability, said the referral to Inspector General Deborah Witzburg was based on “information from multiple knowledgable sources that raised serious concerns” about COPA’s operations.
“The information we have received concerns the quality and integrity of COPA’s investigations, the quality and integrity of COPA’s disciplinary recommendations and retaliation against COPA employees who have raised concerns about COPA’s investigations and recommendations,” Driver said during a special commission meeting at JLM Abundant Life Center in East Garfield Park.
This ties into the illegal alien "sex scandal" that wasn't, where the head of COPA Kersten would write an email to purportedly update some official and then tips off the media whores to FOIA the email using specific keywords to create a story.
Larritorious called her out for her bull$shit and Catanzara has made noises about involving the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission to look into the legality of these tactics. Of course, it's illegal and unethical, but it's Chicago, Cook County where root beer assaults are double felonies.

COPA and the IG’s office are compromised. Although, the Community Commission makes the recommendation of who should lead both, the mayor makes the final decision. Therefore, retaliation beefs are compromised. The mayor can interfere in investigations and shut COPA and the IG. It’s a conflict of interest. These things need to be communicated to the Independent Monitor and the Consent Decree Judge. The union should’ve been pointed this out.

There’s nothing in writing that says that the OSU should strip officers. This has been on the table at the EAP a few times in the past.

Exactly, so because an officer shows signs of mental fatigue, tiredness or burned out, he should be stripped of his job? You obviously don’t know what the word means? So I doubt that you know the signs. All hard workers experience mental and physical fatigue. How are you helping him? You’re adding more stress. Officers can’t get tired? You stripped him of his police power and called it a non-disciplinary action. Stripping is disciplinary. We’ll all be mentally fatigue after the DNC, so strip away.
Stripping officers is the cure to alleviating their stress? If I find myself becoming stress, I promise not to say anything.

Let me clear it up. If the officer has done something criminal they should be stripped through the BIA, but if it’s non-criminal the only individuals that should make the recommendation to strip the officer is the EAP, not Joe Blow the Mope.
The Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability unanimously voted to have the Office of the Inspector General investigate the Civilian Office of Police Accountability.
I wouldn't call it a win, but it's something. I for one am looking forward to the Office-of-CCPSAOIGCOPA-Accountability to really get to the matter of these things. You could call it the OCCPSAOIGCOPAA to streamline things.
How about when they are found to have lied, stretched the truth or hide/omitted evidence that we sue them. We sue them like they do to us. Sue them individually and have them put their assets on paper. Will see an attitude adjustment really quick. I bet Loevy and Loevy would take the case too.
