Nice Ferris Wheel
You know what prevents events like this? Regular scheduled maintenance, which it is whispered, has been neglected to the point that.....well, read the story:
- A frustrating night at Navy Pier on Saturday, as several people were stranded on the Centennial Wheel. Video obtained by ABC7 Chicago shows Chicago police and the Chicago fire department at the scene. A family member of one rider told ABC7 Chicago they were stuck for more than an hour.
Chicago police confirmed all riders were off the ride. No other information was provided. No injuries were reported, according to a Navy Pier spokesperson.
An "electrical component" failed, which caused the ride to stop.
We also hear that many of the stranded riders were most fearful of being sitting targets during the busiest shooting hours.
The weekend numbers (with a bit to go) stand at 6 dead and 23 wounded. A triple homicide in Chatham topped off a fun Saturday night / Sunday morning.

I wouldn’t mind being stuck on it for more than an hour. Would actually be worth the cost of riding it.
Cue the lawyers for the civil suit.
My visit to Chicago's Navy Pier:
They put me on the ferris wheel, then could not get me off.
So, I got myself off
Chester the Molester from Mass ah chew sets....
Were they charged for the extra hour?
Now, kees me you fool!!!!
If you're rightly concerned about being sitting targets for Chicago's undemonized utes, why would you go anywhere near Chicago in the first place? The right thing to do is stay away completely.
Chicago is dysfunctional. I hope they release all the records on the maintenance on the ferris-wheel.
The place has gone to shit time to shut er down and start over
Maintained like Kobe Bryant’s helicopter. Poorly, cheaply, and with State of Illinois labor.

Coming to Chicago this summer a new attraction: The Wheel of Misfortune, with hosts Steve Harvey and Slappy White...
The city that doesn't work no more.
Who inspected that Ferris wheel?
DEI hiring?

Anytime I see our CPD bird flying above I pray they make a safe landing at the end of tour. Only a madman would fly a helicopter that is owned and MAINTAINED by the City of Chicago.
Fuck the Ferris wheel. Spend the money on police pensions.
"We also hear that many of the stranded riders were most fearful of being sitting targets during the busiest shooting hours."
Boy, the imaginations of some people.
Why, being stuck where they were for a little while was the safest place to be on the entire pier.
Their 'risk' of being shot increased significantly the moment they were returned to wander around the pier on foot, and even more so when they left the pier, presumably westward.
