Some of these changes are the exact reason why nobody gives a fuck anymore. Eve Quarterman? Again? She failed the first time and they make her again. One of the requirements to be an Area Detective Commander should be that you were once a âworking fieldâ detective. There are many white shirts in the Areas that are nice individuals, but theyâve never mainitained their own case inbox, personally âClosedâ a case, presented a case to the Felony Review, testified before a Grand Jury, typed a search warrant, requested a subpoena, logged on to the ERI System utilizing there personal PC#, read an offender his Miranda Rights, utilized a GRS Kit, reclassified cases, submitted evidence to an evidence coordinators, requested POD camera footage, drafted a crime pattern, identified a crime pattern, created a Community Alert, requested 911 transmissions, requested crime scene photos or medical records, traveled outside of Chicago to interview a witness, make a death notification, processed a juvenile arrest, mirandized a juvenile, maintained a homicide file, etc. These things may seem small, but they are important. How can someone be effective at leading something you never done?

Great day came upon the 016 district and the entire CPD brother/sisterhood. I had the absolute pleasure of working for the good Lieutenant as a PO and Sergeant. Having prior knowledge just how bad Kenny can really be, my main task as a Sergeant was to protect the POâs from this pompous clown and his uncontrolled mood swings. I have succeeded a fair amount of times and it made Kenny resent me even more. Jagoff all around good riddance!

Stoppa and Garrido are partners in their law firm. Now that they are retired, they will shake things up. Both are active in the Northwest Side GOP. They want to reform the civil service, reform public sector unions and reform our pension system.
Ok to supplement the severely understaffed and overused SWAT/HBT Teams somehow miraculously 150 well trained and qualified Federal snipers are being âabsorbedâ and âauxiliary helpâ temporarily into the CPD ranks until the madness dies down. Itâs actually one of the better decisions that Larry came up with, and names and star numbers are of deceased or unused buttons. The throngs of black BDUâs used to protect UC will also not be CPD but instead DHS/Border Agents, the Trump incident has thrown the whole Dem party on its head and Mayorkas knows if anything goes wrong heâs toast. Pritzker is underwriting all the expenses to try and salvage his slim hopes of a cabinet position. The specter of a Trump win and a legit DOJ investigation into Chicago could derail the whole party and where the budgeted dollars for a 13,500 man department is being misappropriated.

Nope. They have a running file on all of our exemplary, deserving leaders. They have another file, a much bigger file, on all our non-exemplary "leaders". One can be carried with your hand. The other needs a hand-truck.
These newly promoted executive leaders are the most highly educated exempt rank staff in several generations. They are a testament to hard work and balancing work, family and education. As a former Chicagoan I know the city is in good hands!

I believe the one Dillon girl is gone because she got PTSD âdisabilityâ for hiding behind the flowerpot during the downtown homicide at millennium park. And no, this is not a joke.. she is no longer showing up in data warehouse as being active.

I am retired and enjoying my retirement! But while I was active, I was sent (reversed seniority) to work the Billiken parade. Alison was our "platoon" Sgt. and because of the District we came from we were all males and white. Some idiot overly promoted exempt rank walked over to our platoon and gave Sgt. Christian the order to go through Washington Park and clear the park of all the gangbangers. Imagine the park after the parade and you get my drift. Besides the fact that most were drinking and high, no one was really making any trouble. Sgt. turned to us and said " we are going to stick together, walk from one side of the park to the other side. Let's wave at the kids and engage people who will respond to us." We walked through and had no problems with the crowd. We also managed to finish our tour safe and without any incidents. I was so glad that Sgt. realized what we would have been starting if we had taken a different approach. By the way...the exempt that gave the order, he got on his car (driven by the girlfriend) and left the area. Allison has always been grounded and I hope she will continue to be herself. Her father was an exempt and he was also a decent person.

They are very police-friendly and have a fantastic business model. I went to Cal College for my undergrad and grad degrees over a decade ago because it made complete sense. The program director and most instructors had a law enforcement background. The classes went in a sequential order for everyone, so you registered only once at the begining of the program. They gave you all of the class books you needed, so you didn't have to spend extra (tuition reimbursement doesnât pay for books) or go shopping for them. They offered mirror day and evening classes, so you could attend whichever worked best for your schedule. You didn't have to pay for the class until after you'd received your reimbursement check from the City. It's not an Ivy League university, but it certainly wasn't a cake walk.

One of the requirements to be an Area Detective Commander should be that you were once a âworking fieldâ detective. There are many white shirts in the Areas that are nice individuals, but theyâve never mainitained their own case inbox, personally âClosedâ a case, presented a case to the Felony Review, testified before a Grand Jury, typed a search warrant, requested a subpoena, logged on to the ERI System utilizing there personal PC#, read an offender his Miranda Rights, utilized a GRS Kit, reclassified cases, submitted evidence to an evidence coordinators, requested POD camera footage, drafted a crime pattern, identified a crime pattern, created a Community Alert, requested 911 transmissions, requested crime scene photos or medical records, traveled outside of Chicago to interview a witness, make a death notification, processed a juvenile arrest, mirandized a juvenile, maintained a homicide file, etc. These things may seem small, but they are important. How can someone be effective at leading something you never done.
As I white shirt, I have done all of these when I was a Detective, but it that was from 2004 - 2012. A lot has changed, and even I would have to re-learn a lot....just saying
If short refreshers wonât help, then it might not be a good idea to interview for the job. Some are not familiar with the process at all.

I don't know the newly appointed Commander Christian, but I remember her dad very well. Let's begin by noting that no one is perfect----including you, me, or the Christian family. With that in mind, I always thought highly of Sam Christian and still do. He was an intelligent boss who never forgot he once a Blueshirt himself. I hope he is having a good retirement, as I am, and that his daughter succeeds as Commander in 024, where I am from originally. In any event, whoever had a bad time with the old Christian should not condemn the daughter for the sins of the father. Give her a chance, it benefits us all if she does a good job.
