Anyone know if Phillips has been relieved of her command? Not for medical reasons - lord knows PTSD is a serious malady and deserving of treatment and sympathy when properly diagnosed.
But someone with PTSD issues isn't really who you want in a high stress position that requires quick thinking, on-the-fly decision making that impacts not only those under her command, but the citizens who are depending on that smart, capable, legally sound judgement call, and the taxpayers who might be on the hook for something that goes wrong.
Well....actually, there are numerous ambulance chasers who would LOVE to have a PTSD afflicted commander in charge of a busy district making all sorts of questionably legal decisions. They would probably sell their own mothers to Satan himself for that to happen.

So it’s official the Commander’s are suffering from mental illness. Best wishes and I wish the department had their crap together. Does anyone reading this remember back in the 90’s when we had another great event with mass arrests? We separated male and female arrested subjects and sent the males to 111th and females to grand and central? That turned into a law suit back then but it proved useful! To separate and confine the protestors and remove them as far away from the location it took hours to days for them to even make it back to original location?
PTSD cannot even be used as a disability from the city? It’s been tried but denied every time! So why would an Exempt rank use it? But then again why would they not try to use it?
I know of a Detective that would not cry of PTSD that would make a great 2nd district Commander, but Snelling now made it impossible for a Detective to apply for the assignment with his updated general order barring Detectives.
What does taking Medical mean?

I hope the listed sergeant I have for DNC hit the medical. I don’t feel like working for a lazy, merit hacked, house mouse from headquarters.
Do not go on the medical. If you go on the medical, CPD is going to get a CR number on you for taking a job action. They will get a search warrant to search your phone, phone texts, etc... to determine if you pre planned and purposefully went on the medical to avoid working the DNC.
DEI hires and promotions are untouchable
As a young officer eagered to learn and be the police I truly believed that I was doing a great thing for society and would criticize those who we called .*DOGS* fast forward 20+ years and came to realize those were the smart ones. It’s the same as using your sick days in the civilian world. Except for us, you essentially are mandatory stationary /at home for the first 3 days. Anything over 3 days requires doctor’s visit verification with diagnosis, treatment and expected return to work date. You have a duty to report to the medical section to submit that with very few exceptions (like you’re in the hospital). Oh and if you call in sick, you very well may receive a sergeant showing up at your door to verify you are indeed at home. Generally, you can’t use a psychiatric diagnosis for a medical day. That’s another level of leave that basically means you are unfit for duty as police officer.
It’s happening all the time now, but only for those who are multiple merit or for those given test questions in secret study groups. I can’t even count how many multiple merits I’ve seen go from Sergeant to Commanders in the past few years.

I think coppers throughout the city have had enough. But we are asking for is fair. A schedule in which we can work are required shifts and optional overtime if you want it. The department in the last 4 years has really become difficult to work with. I understand that sometimes a city wide emergency might occur. But this is not it. The department is caught in a vicious cycle in which more people retire, which leaves less manpower which means they have to cancel more days off.

A friend has a story in a book about dealing with PTSD. Book is called "You Can't Go Home Again" J. L. Curtis and others. It is a hard read, but was helpful to me.

What’s the purpose of filing a CR when the BIA is the main culprit that calls the medical section each day demanding medical records that are supposed to be confidential. She should file a lawsuit: start with the mope that took the notification, the one that entered the information into the computer, everyone that used their PC to look it up, and work her way on up.
