Welcome to Prison Ed
See you in twenty-to-twenty-four months:
- Legendary Chicago City Councilman Ed Burke is just days from his surrender to federal prison.
Burke served as a Chicago alderman from 1969 to 2023: a total of 54 years and more than anyone in city history.
On Monday, the once-powerful chairman of the City Council Finance Committee will become prisoner No. 53-698-424.
He was hoping to serve his time in Wisconsin near his family's lake house, but that portion of Oxford closed a while back, so he's hoping for (and was recommended by the judge) for Terra Haute, Indiana.
We'll see on Monday where to send the Christmas cards.

Does he still get to wear his star on his belt when he is in prison?
Not enough time. Will they please not allow him to wear his retirement star like he did during his court appearances. Or was that his aldermanic badge?
It is, an insult to all who put in their time honorably.
they get so cocky after years of corruption that they think they'll never get caught in their scams
ED !...Don't drop the soap....
Ed !....Drop the soap.
Jake Blues and Matt "Guitar" Murphy recommend avoiding the pepper steak and oatmeal.
Much deserved enjoy the food

Check out the am560 wls radio Dan & Amy podcast, Fri 20 Sep 24. Go to the 36.08 time marker. Ald Ray Lopez 15th Ward blowing the whistle on Mayor Conehead on: shotspotter, the real reason he wants to combine the migrant & homeless people to turn it over to private vendors so he can divert our tax money to them who will become his new donors so that the city & state will have no control over the program. Lopez emphasizes Conhead head despises the police. He further discusses the controversy about splitting the 8th District. Conehead is creating a patronage army by combining the migrant & homeless problem. So there’s more below the surface than people think.
Terre Haute will be known for 5 things now.
1. Former home of Columbia Records & Tapes ( I swear I'm still getting bills from them for my Flock of Seagulls CD)
2. Home of the largest glue factory in the US at one time.
3. Indiana State University (where I got my first stinky finger) and Alum Larry Bird
4. Sidewalks, nothing but sidewalks
5. Prison city to Mike Tyson and now Eddie Burke
What? No mention of the obligatory "former Chicago cop" dig in his resume? The msm is losing it's touch.
Enjoy your stay.
I hope him and Madigan can be cellys and smoke Newports in a day room with durags on their heads.
His conviction is too little and too late. Plus, he’s keeping all the graft correct? He’ll be out before he’s fully processed.
He was hoping to serve his time in Wisconsin near his family's lake house, but that portion of Oxford closed a while back, so he's hoping for (and was recommended by the judge) for Terra Haute, Indiana.
Is it too late for him to give up JB Lizzo? Asking for a friend.
He will not do half that. First of all he will get more credit to go to treatment for his recent diagnosis of alcoholism then some age related illness will pop up then a compassionate leave with home bound so he doesn’t get the new COVID all of course okd by the Judge whose family had hired Burke’s law firm and gave him such an easy sentence he was smiling and didn’t bother to appeal. Justice served in Chicago
Maybe Ed will have the opportunity to scrawl something on a wall next to a few of Tim McVeigh's final pontifications about American society.
Henry Hill and Big Paulie will be waiting at the intake to show Ed to his new home. Paulie has a way of slicing the garlic with a razor blade so it liquefies in the olive oil and really makes the marinara taste good...
Send him to the old Joliet prison. Two years with all the ghosts haunting that place will straighten him out.
He will be hospitalized this weekend and will never step foot in any prison.. POS!
He’ll be dead within a year.
Please please publish his address so I can have another pen pal
First teenaged Chicago Police.
Will they let Eddie Burke wear his fedora in the joint?
24 months is way too short of a sentence for the length of, and level of corruption he brought to the table. He was given a slap on the wrist IMHO. Ed Burke wrote the book on Chicago values.
Sadly, when you are a politician, you are sent to a "Camp"...anyone reading this blog who steps over the line will be sent to prison...Let that sink in.
Don’t forget home to former death row inmate Timothy McVeigh. His prison shirt/inmate number hang proudly from the rafters there since his “exit” many years ago; so many years ago that the onion was still printing their newspaper and ran a story on it
There are several fed prisons in Illinois, including one in Pekin. Why doesn’t Ed want to stay in his home state? Hang out with some homies. Ed never seemed like an Indiana type guy to me.
Wonder if they’ll let Eddie Burke wear his fedora in the joint?
To the victims inside the OEMC if Burke can go down in Chicago than anyone can. Contact the Department of Justice with tips. If people want to act like an organised crew then they should be investigated as an organised crew.
Home of Buffy and Jody until Uncle Bill took them in with Mr. French and moved them to NYC.
Totally agree. White collar crime pays.
He’s not there yet. Stranger things have happened in Chicago
Alcoholism? He sure was a functioning one if true
I always chuckled when they pronounced it "terra hut", instead of "terra hote".
No, but as part of the plea bargain he is allowed one gold chain.
It’s “organized”, rat recruiter
Should be under the jail along with Toni Preclwrinkle.
It is sad that more than 2200 public officials have been been convicted of corruption. I’m sure Conehead and his administration are going down before it’s all over.
Been crooked for years.
Now that is some trivia!
Make sure Eddie tells Johnny Deo he like his steak medium rare. An aristocrat. They can talk about baseball batting them two sobs- you couldn’t recognize em
Quincy Magoo Says:
Although Ed will have to give up his Dragnet faux detective outfit, the prison authorities may still let him pin his Alderman badge to his orange jumpsuit.
LOL! Good one.
@9/21/2024 01:56:09 PM Good one!!!
Anybody have any ideas of why he didn’t appeal? At his age and with his money why not appeal it. He could drag it out for years.
The Democrat commie Media probably hopes to keep safer from the other inmates, being a former Cop, unlike how they advertise everything about Trump, hoping to destroy him.
