Bears One Step Closer

To leaving for Arlington Heights:

  • The Bears say they want to stay in Chicago, but their potential drive to the northwest suburbs just got easier.

Team officials announced Monday they’ve reached a tentative agreement with the village of Arlington Heights and local school district leaders who’ve sparred with the Bears over the property tax valuation on the shuttered Arlington International Racecourse, the 326-acre plot the team closed on early last year as a potential new stadium site.

After about a year of wrangling over the size of the team’s property tax bill — and a year of political roadblocks to the Bears’ hopes for funding a new stadium in Chicago — the team says it has a memorandum of understanding that opens the runway for them to land in Arlington Heights.

We said before, all the posing and talk about a lakefront stadium (generously assisted by politicians giving away taxpayer dollars) is just leverage to use in negotiations with Arlington Heights.

It sure looks that way even more so.

The actual taxpaying public will lose nothing by the Bears leaving! Most of that revenue went into connected pockets and not tax coffers. It's like when my ex left, and I went from a two-income household to a one income household. I ended up saving money! Turns out I was paying for everything, and she was secretly squirreling away her pay the whole time!

I didn’t even watch the bears play Minnesota because I knew they would lose.
I still feel better today for not watching

The sucker fans still going to the games only to be let down year after year. That team will never win while owned by that McCaskey family.

Went 2 times to the racetrack for the Arlington million. Won’t go the Arlington bears because it will not be nostalgic. There will be no tailgating allowed and no personal alcohol will be allowed.

Additionally the hood has moved all along northwest highway. The security will have dreads and your child will be groomed in the trans bathrooms.

Let them go shows how much money they have. They could buy Arlington Heights but yet they want to taxpayers of the city of Chicago to chip in about $2 billion to help them. It’s absolutely no loss.

The Illinois convention business needs the Bears in Arlington Heights. Downtown Chicago is a war zone due to all of the violence. They should make a new convention destination far away from the savage.

Hopefully the Bears pulled all of the toilets out of the old racetrack. We learned from Fat Fredo that this takes care of property taxes.

Soliders Field can be reformed for the expansion of the lakefeont vinnie tent encampments when the Bears leave. It's much closer to the Sparklefarts library and the neighbors are already accustomed to the unlicensed streetside restaurant cookouts and intoxicated patrons cuz of the tailgating.

The location is ideal for selling trinkets to conventioneers by the ladies toting babies on their backs too.

Speaking of which. The mohawk man looking for new sources of revenue when is he going to enforce licensing' inspecting all these illegal immigrant outside kitchens and enforce collecting taxes from them? Tax the tents at wilson ave on the lakefront too. Why should the tent owners get a feee ride on property taxes that property needs to be taxed as a residence

Someone would have to be incredibly stupid not to move forward with the old racetrack. New multi sport complex, casino with sport book, cannabis dispensary, bars, restaurants, hotels, concert venue, parking, Metra, all under one indoor building. Chicago cant compete with that. Look how long it took to get a casino going. The casino project is limping along. It should have been at Navy Pier, Migs Field or the old Post Office. Any project inside this city is a waste of resources.

Back when I actually watched NFL games I always made it a point of watching the Bears, Packers game. it seemed like that game was the season for each team. The memorable snow games where you could not see one goal post from the other were a real treat. But I dropped cable years ago and was weaned from football. Now it is unwatchable even if I was a fan anymore. I hear the NFL is fining any player would does the Trump dance in the end zone.

An open letter to the Chicago Bears: Go. Go far away. Don’t ever come back.
An open letter to the Chicago White Sox: you’re the worst team in the history of baseball. no new stadium for you. If you don’t like 35th St., hit the road.

I was confident all along, after the Bears acquired the land in Arlington, that was their intent all along. It has all the room to expand their empire with a dome, more seating, close airport, car and rail access and ability to build an entertainment center around the perimeter to rake in more money.
It would also put them in the running as a future Super Bowl location.
The lakefront proposal as mentioned by SCC (below " ") summarized it perfectly as a business move.
The Friends of the Parks were able to keep Lucas and all his money out of a Star Wars attraction along the lakefront and would be successful in stopping or making it financially not profitable to fight their cause before the first shovel of dirt was ever overturned.
It's just a matter of time...and money.

SCC---> "We said before, all the posing and talk about a lakefront stadium (generously assisted by politicians giving away taxpayer dollars) is just leverage to use in negotiations with Arlington Heights."

The “hood” moved where? Sounds like sour grapes from someone who didn’t get into the near northwest suburbs or even Edison Park when it was cheap! All points north and west from Park Ridge and Desplaines are far superior to 99% of the rest of the State, or Country for that matter, and will make a perfect place for the Bad News Bears to call home. If your really, really smart you’ll violate the residency requirement and buy your next home in Arlington Hts or Palatine…

$500+ for an urban experience? Not too expensive. Plus, a story you can tell all your democrat, liberal friends while you are at a Bears' game in Arlington Heights. That is if you live through it. "I remember getting robbed when leaving Soldier Field by some poor, unfortunate, urban, urchins who were just trying to survive."
