- A woman was shot in the Loop on Saturday evening as large crowds
filled the area to celebrate the start of the holiday season. An
individual is being questioned.
Chicago police officers were maintaining a significant presence in the Loop following the annual Festival of Lights and Friday’s lighting of the city’s official Christmas tree at Millennium Park.
Shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday, some of those officers reported hearing gunfire at the corner of State and Washington. They soon found a 19-year-old woman with a gunshot injury.
She ran into Macy’s, 111 North State, for safety after being shot in her upper right leg while standing outside the store on Washington Street, officials said. Cops found shell casings at 6 West Washington, on the opposite side of State Street from the store.
And thanks to the reasonable temps, poor staffing, and command staff that doesn't have a clue, the weekend was full of summer-like wilding incidents all over the (formerly) Magnificent Mile.
Oh, and none of the raggedy yutes have school next week. Somehow the CTU turned Thanksgiving four-day weekend into an entire week off, just before the usual three-week Christmas break.
Did that play into CPD non-planning?

Again both Barz and Harris are two useless over promoted fucks. Commander Bauer was out there with his troops and made the ultimate sacrifice protecting citizens while adhering to his oath as a great leader and law enforcement officer and doing his job side by side with officers. Let me help you out brainiac….Thanksgiving is always on Thursday, and the day after you always had off would then naturally be Friday. Saturday and Sunday follow Friday, and there is no school on those days. 1+1+1+1=4. You fucking dolt.

No what he’s talking about is having the entire week of thanksgiving off instead of just Thursday and Friday. In my suburban district, not only do they have the whole week off, but just like with every other Monday off for a holiday, they make the Friday before a half day, So these overpaid fucks, who work a little over 6 months of the year with their extended holiday breaks and spring break, leave for Thanksgiving starting noon the Friday before. Don’t know about CPS.
Don't think that's in the plan. As matter of fact they are extending the red line further south to bring more entertainment to the downtown area. Should be fun in the years to come.
