- San Francisco police said they have arrested eight retail suspects as
young as 12 years old, who they believe are responsible for 23
incidents at various Walgreens' stores totaling more than $84,000 in
stolen merchandise.
In a news release on Thursday, police identified the oldest suspect as Brandon McClain, 18, of Hayward, who was arrested on suspicion of grand theft and retail theft. He was also arrested on suspicion of a carjacking this month with a 15-year-old, police said.
The 12-year-old from San Francisco was charged with assault, robbery, burglary, grand theft, organized retail theft and petty theft, according to San Francisco Police Officer Paulina Henderson.
The other suspects are 14 and 15 years old who live in San Francisco, Oakland, Pittsburg and Oakley. They were all charged with various counts of theft.
Amusingly, the media had shown up at this particular Walgreens a few days prior to report on the high rate of theft, and while they were filming, the shoplifting crew stuck again....and again....and again. Three times in the hour or so they were filming.
A small area of retail shopping inside less than half a square mile of the North Side emerged last year as a hot spot for shoplifting in Chicago, according to a new study.
A report by the Council on Criminal Justice, a nonpartisan policy group in Washington, says the city’s annual shoplifting rate per 100,000 people fell significantly in 2020 and 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic. And the city’s retail theft rate in 2023 was lower than in 2018, the report says.
But that rate skyrocketed 46% in Chicago this year through October compared with the same period of 2023, the report says. This year’s shoplifting rate is also higher than the same period of any of the past six years in the city.
Both dem cities, run by morons, and the "justice" system that only protects criminals from having to serve time.

Boudin is the first San Francisco DA to be recalled and the first DA in California to be successfully removed from office.
Retail theft rates dropped when they closed the stores, stopped prosecuting retail theft, and stopped reporting crimes to the feds? Imagine that!
In ten years both cities will be like what happened. The politicians will blame the businesses that left. Not that the politicians created an environment that promotes the destruction of their city. Voters better stop paying attention to their sports teams and better start paying attention to what affects their lives.
San Fran and Chicago? Ill bet it’s out of control in Philly and Boston as well. I’ll toss another Overtime check on the bet that anywhere there’s a soros backed States / District Attorney, crime is out of control.

Foxx recently said she was most proud that she helped end cash bail, because it was so hard on the people arrested and their families. Not one mention about the victims of crime.

Never knew of a DA who was removed from office so that's a new. But more of a shocker is Boudin's first name... "Chesa". My biases automatically lead my biased brain to believe the man was a former lady but shockingly "Chesa" appears to be a legit male species of the homo-sapiens family. Wildly crazy times we live in.

12 yr olds are a real problem to deal with - they don't even have the brain development to understand the nuances of right from wrong. And especially when they have maybe one parent figure in their life.
This isn't to say "don't hold them accountable" - but they're not really likely to be locked up in juvy, more apt to be released right back to the cesspool that spawned them in the first place.
I'd put them straight into a mental institution for those under 18 - get them multiple years of the kind of discipline they ought to have had in the first place, education they should have gotten in the first place. Keep the ones that pull these kinds of heavy-duty crimes in there for a few years.
Anyone that used the kid for such activities because they figured the kid wouldn't get put in 'jail' should themselves be put in jail for a minimum of 40 years - no parole, no credits, no concurrent sentences or other bullshit. Sit and stew for 40 years.
As soon as that starts happening, a lot of these 12-14 yr olds stop engaging in this bullshit (hell, even younger if you count that stone cold murder - Yummy Sandifer).
But alas, this pipe dream will be just that because we're controlled by Democrats here in Illinois. Gotta vote those fuckers out of office before anything changes.
Hopefully stores get back to old style anti-shoplifting techniques, armed guards who actually engage and dispatch the criminals...
