- Sources are telling me prominent members in Chicago labor, business and civic community are actively trying to recruit IL Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias to run for Mayor of Chicago - February ‘27
Giannoulias? This goof is a consummate Machine insider since the days of Shortshanks and Sparklefarts. Not only that, his family bank (Broadway Bank) was involved in some questionable (shady) loans back early 2000s and ended up costing taxpayers nearly $400 million in FDIC payouts.
Just what an already bankrupt Chicago needs!

Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias Isn’t getting my or my family’s vote! He is part of the Democrat machine. He wouldn’t do any better. Chicago would continue the decline under him. The big problem is you need some type of name recognition in Chicago to get anyone to vote for you. Chicago just might be doomed because of idiot voters.

That money came from ComEd, jurors in Madigan’s racketeering conspiracy trial have been told. It was funneled to Ed Moody through Michael McClain, an ex-lawmaker-turned-lobbyist. The utility ultimately paid $1.3 million to five Madigan allies over eight years, evidence has shown.
But for the first time Wednesday, jurors came face-to-face with one of the recipients. Moody took the stand and told them he’d collected $354,000 between 2012 and 2018. He said he landed his contract with help from Madigan, who told him to keep campaigning.
