Timely Notification?
Call us cynical, but this community alert couldn't have gone out a little sooner?
- Armed crews have been going on robbery sprees across a stretch of
neighborhoods from the West Loop to East Garfield Park for at least six
weeks. On Sunday, the Chicago Police Department issued its first
community alert about the growing problem.
The alert only mentions five robberies, all occurring between 5:40 a.m. and 7:14 a.m. on Friday. CWBChicago told you about the spree on Saturday morning.
The alert said two or three robbers, all wearing dark clothing and wearing black ski masks, jumped out of a stolen car to rob victims at gunpoint on the street. They pistol-whipped some of the victims, according to CPD.
The CPD notice just came out in the past few days. This string of robberies has been going on for six weeks. If you're a regular reader of the CWB blog (which you should be) or a subscriber (which we might be), you'd have heard about the multiple robberies occurring over the last few weeks, always five or seven at a time, all with the same basic description, all within minutes of each other in the same general area.

Did they get a description of the robbers? Are they Amish? Do they look Amish? Do they act like Amish? Do they waive Amish hand signals?
They had to wait until after they did the presser talking about crime being down-including robberies!
Because RBT detectives in CPD have hit an all time low. Laziest bunch of do nothings who cry about being “overworked”. You’re not over worked when you get 20 jobs in your box in a few days and suspended them all. There is practically zero investigation happening in CPD by the RBT detectives. Then, when an offender is in custody, the RBT detectives will do their best to get the case CId, talk the victim out of cooperating or do nothing to try and investigate to find more evidence. They are all terrified of going to court. Put them all back on the floor and get rid of most of these sgts who don’t have a clue. The RBT detectives in the districts was a great job but the detectives have burned that up by not doing their jobs anymore so the experiment needs to end and back on the floor. A robbery detective could get 200-300 cases a year or more. The odds of not solving a single one are practically impossible. They are blind, lazy or terrible detectives and you can’t be a blind police officer so it’s 2 and 3. We all know the drill, “I cleared 20% of my cases”.. but they were all by refusal to prosecute because you talk the victims out of it. Area 3 are experts at that.
So much for everything being under control and crime being down. I guess that was a fantasy.
those damn white supremist the gov't has warned us about
More like the last nine years...thanks Kim foxx
Do you still put out FLASH and FORMAL messages right away, or do you now have to wait to give the poor misguided criminals a running chance? Remember Mayor BLM Brandon wants to find out what are the root causes of crime first. Don’t rush into things!
Where’s Hawkins and the minions ??
Tough command decision to inform or warn the public.
Dangerous for a command person these days to bring attention to a crime spree when the mayor says. Crime is down?
Democrat mayor, Democrat lies!
sure wish those Amish kids would stop funnin
The Great Unwashed Democrat Welfare Voters doing what they do best.
Take away welfare from criminals, end all rent, comed and people’s gas assistance for all criminals.
Amish gangs gone wild...
I heard Hawkins and his kids are out of control. Can't make their own cases so they show up on other coppers cases demanding to take over because they need the numbers Pathetic.
"..some people did something.." Rep. Ilhan Omar..
Telling me you haven't handled RBT investigations without telling me you haven't handled RBT investigations🤣
The root causes of crime are: single black "mothers" having too many kids and not raising any of them, a culture that praises criminality and scamming for handouts over getting jobs and contributing to society, blaming anyone but themselves for where their laziness and stupidity gets them in life, making excuses and refusing to accept responsibility and accountability for anything. Throw in some poverty and the failure of the criminal justice system to actually hold and punish criminals and you have the root causes nailed down pretty well.
Sounds about right
What do you expect from a department full of officers who are incapable of writing a simple report without cutting and pasting?
Please get a handle on these white kids from Schaumburg already!
The real "terrorist threat". Anyone find that dark SUV with three armed M/1s aged 15-19. I've been looking for that vehicle for the past 25 years. {Clown Emoji}
hmmmm,,,, sounds like someone could not get rbt so had to take youth
amazing how just about every day the news radio has the color of a vehicle involved in an accident but never of offenders
The alert should have said: " we tried to catch them but they're too smart for us, and we give up."
Let me guess..you're the bald tact Sgt in 024 who tells everyone you were a homicide detective. Nobody cares. Then you call the Area desk asking RBT questions and preface that by telling the desk you're a former homicide detective and don't know RBT. You're the person that doesn't have a clue. By the way we're all waiting for your grand return to Area 3. You've been telling everyone how your expertise is needed here and your coming back soon. That was almost 2 years ago. A quick note Detectives don't work for you. So go cry to the commander and the alderman about the detectives again. You're a little bitch.
Where is the goofy worthless Robbery Task force led by that tall neck Hawkins and his minions? Or should we say MORONS!
Meanwhile, does anybody know what important mission the car from the academy was on when they got into a fender bender in Park Ridge today?
CPD is running its self.
Which strategies are we using to catch criminals?
My faves, via LEADS, was always getting "CLASSIFIED" "FOUO" NCIC bulletins with the included warning about content disclosure. Usually, within two to four hours of the beginning of shift, or at least by the end of shift, the topic was broadcast via hourly network radio news almost verbatim.
