Firefighters Injured

Minor injuries, but still a reminder of the dangers faced by First Responders:

  • Two Chicago firefighters and a teen were injured Saturday afternoon in an apartment fire in the Lincoln Park neighborhood.

Firefighters responded to a fire on the third floor of a four-story apartment building in the 2300 block of North Ashland Avenue, Chicago Fire Department officials said.

Two firefighters who were injured were taken to the hospital in good condition. A teenage boy was taken to Lurie Children's Hospital for treatment to be checked for smoke inhalation.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Put Firefighter 👩‍🚒 on 12 hour shifts . It’s very dangerous to be woken from a sound sleep, respond to a fire climb up on roofs ,enter burning buildings while half asleep.

Retired CFD here. Always got a good laugh out of the CFD vs CPD thing as long as it wasn’t serious. We both had our challenges. Favorite memory was two cops stopping by every day to play ping pong and eat. They took off their button down blue shirts and wore their white undershirts to play. While they were in a heated match we soaked their button downs in the sink and put ‘em in the freezer.

You’d have to hire another 2k FF at least and even that job can’t be given away. Nobody wants to work anymore.
