The Inevitable Lawsuit
Reason #2,412 not to chase cars:
The mother of a woman killed in a car crash last November is suing the city of Chicago and unnamed police officers.
According to the lawsuit, police were pursuing a car they thought was stolen near East 60th Street and South State Street on the city's South Side.
That car hit one driven by 61-year-old Karen Henry. A CTA bus was also hit.
It's over, it's been over, it's never coming back.
This is what Chicago voted for.

If thousands of my fellow officers went out of their way to tell me daily it is a bad idea to touch a hot stove. I probably would heed their advice. On daily basis the blog and its commenters preach common sense advice and yet we still have some officers who think they the exception and smarter than the internet. Let me tell you, the internet always does its research and the internet always wins.
I would like to sue the city. They appear to give everyone lots of money.
The morons that the city is hiring will never learn.
You’re just asking for trouble if you turn on sirens and lights. Do not chase include hurrying to ant call.
There could be plenty of attorneys out there that were satisfy your wish. Maybe if you stub your toe, they can sue.
Sue them for the way all their taxes are hurting your physical and mental health.
The internet always does its research? Yowza! Did you attend Chicago State? That is one of the most ridiculous statements that I have ever read. The vast majority of internet “knowledge” is propaganda posted by stupid people, for stupid people.
Get in line.
Could be worse. These dog ass juries throw our money around like it’s nothing. Only time in their life they are big spenders with taxpayers money
Maybe, if you published the SCC chase order (NO!) every day for a month it might sink in.
There's only one way a pursuit ends, a crash. The department gives us no tools or tactics to end the chase.
Most learn immediately. Others learn after related events unfold as time passes. Some never learn. The last group are also known as respondents.
Doubtful. And you can't always blame the supervisors. These young bucks get the hot plate on the PDT and the chase is on. Don't get on the radio for several blocks, so half the time nobody is even aware. When it goes to shit the electronics and computers don't lie after the fact.
If it ain’t sunk it by now, they better prepare for their own lawsuits.
The tools & tactics are: NO! DO NOT CHASE!!!
Don’t start a chase!
The department doesn’t need to give you anything to end a chase; just use your brain and don’t engage. If you don’t have a brain, buy one with your next uniform check.
