Wake Last Night

A somber evening:

  • The line to get into Montclair-Lucania Funeral Home, 6901 W. Belmont Ave., stretched down the street before the visitation began at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Uniformed officers from Rockford, Hanover Park, Bloomingdale and Milwaukee were among the many who came to pay their respects.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and Police Supt. Larry Snelling arrived about 7 p.m. through a side entrance.

The funeral is later today.

Interment was listed as "private" so we assume the procession to the cemetery will end at the gates?

I was rather quite disappointed in the turn out , when I went at 1700 hours . So after seeing your post I feel a little better knowing brothers and sisters did come and show support .

Head held low. Looking down with sadness. Emptiness in this time of loss. I stand in solidarity with my blue family in extending my deepest condolences to her family and friends.

They should have stood in the heat like the real police did!
Better yet they should have been told to stay away!
I'm sure there were plenty of cops ready to shine their shoes and knobs!

I am out of town and could not make the wake or funeral. My thoughts and prayers are with her, her family, and now especially with her partner.

Release the video. Our terrible training needs to be exposed so this never happens again.

The Mayor is filled with hate for the police and I'm sure this idiot is just trying to get his approval rating up by any means. Why not stand with the troops Larry.

Slightly OT:
Sadly having watched the entire funeral service for our departed sister, on a more refreshing note, I would like to acknowledge our Chicago Police Honor Guard.
Their coordinated efforts of precision and professionalism throughout, again made for a respectable and dignified send-off for another of our fallen members.
They too embody the revered distinction, along with those that we salute and honor lost in the line of duty, truly... "Chicago's Finest."
With gratitude to all that participated in person or prayer, we collectively proclaim, Requiescat in pace Krystal, until we meet again.

The last minute change to an earlier start was unfortunate yet not the fault of anyone on the CPD. It's more important to always remember our departed sister along with her family, colleagues and friends. RIP, Krystal.

I personally find it disgusting that our RDOs cancelled for Puerto Rican fest and the downtown protests and the services for our fallen member were delayed. It's like she was totally forgotten after the tragic event.

The priority of the Department should have been to honor her and her life. But instead the priority was bullshit. I'd be more than fine to have them cancel my RDO to provide coverage so members could attend services but instead she was kept on ice for "No Kings" and Humbolt Park.

I wish her family and co-works the best and my hearts and prayers go out to them. I hope we can honor our fallen with more respect going forward but maybe that's asking too much.

Nobody will ever admit that. Good old Ralphie boy was the commander at the time. They will give you hours of DEI crap, but go shoot your 30 rounds standing static.

Remember when cops turned their backs to the idiot mayor and stupidintendant during French's stay at the hospital? Remember when some of the families of officers told the mayor, SUP and all them ass clowns not to come to their beloved funerals? Why do you tell them to fuck off already? They hate the police, defund the police, create policies, laws and enact the most insane world of work for the police and yet want them at your beloved funeral for their % and tv time. They will use us as pawns like they continue to do for their agenda of defund the police.

It was the families decision to hold the wake and funeral when they did, not the dept. the family had three birthdays, including her daughter, in the week after her death. They decided when to have services.

I was at the funeral. There seemed to be more officers attending from outside agencies than CPD. It was very disappointing.

It was a disappointing turn out. The church was empty. The overflow were the recruits watching the service.

They obviously planned for huge crowds at the wake and the church and barely anyone showed up. The church was no more than 40% occupied, the overflow rooms and a huge room, set up with tables, were empty. What happened to the "sea of blue'? What has this department come to?

Not when there is a photo opportunity tp be had. They (politicians) are like moths to a flame. Most families dont understand how to deal with this event as no one can prepare for it. The fact that conhead slipped in a side door shows his visit was planned ahead. After all, he is running for re-election.

Why do the same Officials, Officers & Supervisors that refuse to speak you in the hallways or on the streets find soo much Love & Compassion upon an Officer’s Death?

As far as the low turnout, I would blame the fact that the services went from 1200 to 1100 am. I don't know why the time change, but I'm sure a lot of officers other than caught off guard.
