So, they're not only screwing Midnight Officers. Now - it's everyone:
the dept just scheduled a bunch of 2nd watch officers for training at 1900 hours after they've been sticking it to 1st watch officers for a while now by scheduling them for training at 0600 and 0700 hours.
When downtown is told there aren't 8 hours between the regular tour of duty and training, they just shrug and say "adjust the start time."
Adjusting hours doesn't help for shit not to mention how it affects families. Police couples have to burn time just so one can attend training. Family first? My ass
PS And I know a bunch of 3rd Watch just got assigned to training at 0700hrs

Didn’t care when 1st watch was f-over, not my problem. But I don’t want to start at 1900. I work DAYS!!!!
"Just adjust the start time" of what? The training or the officer's tour of duty?
And the public wonders why so much is doesn't on overtime.... it's partly because of the incompetence of of scheduling training.
But they hammer us with “officer wellness” training and talk about how important rest, recovery, and a consistent sleep pattern are crucial for maintaining mental health.
More bullshit, they say one thing and do another.
I blame all you ass kissing coppers, non of you like causing waves, rocking the boat. When I was on the job I never listen to their bullshit, I did what I wanted, what was convenient to my family. My last 4 years on I did not work a single holiday, even if it was denied. Most coppers love that cushy spot, the early ducks. I never gave a fuck. Many STUPIDVISORS tried to fuck he but never could because I knew the job better than them. Thanks to how many STUPIDVISORS tried to fuck with me, I learned how to fuck back. After 20+ years I did CPD royally. Too many ass kissing coppers with no bark balls.

No one has a clue how to manage and schedule anything.
If they schedule a days person for a 1900 training, they will essentially lose them for 2 tours. Read the contract, they have to give u 9 hours between tours. So u get outta training at 4am, u cant come in until 1300 hours.
I just got notified for a 1900 start for training. The training is ABLE, there is a nice rainbow flag that goes with it. I'm sure it will be wonderful. I start at 0800 the next day.

A P.O. on 3rd watch was scheduled for CIT refresher course at the old academy at 0630 hrs.
Hit the medical every time you have a training class. fuck them like they fuck you.
A 2nd watch desk Officer is assigned training from 1900-0300. Their next tour is 0500 but the rule is 9hrs between shifts. So the desk officer doesn’t have to return to work until 1200 and work 1 1/2 hrs until 3rd watch starts.

Its one day. They sent me to days and I work 3rd watch. Worked the night before and had to be at class at 0700hrs the next day. It throws off your routine, but its in our contract. They can change your schedule for training as long as you have at least a 7 day notice. If you guys do not like it, start going to FOP meetings and have this issue settled in the next contract. I think there are other issues that are more important to the rest us. The 2nd watch guys cry the most.

I don’t know a lot about computer coding, but those that do tell me it’s a simple adjustment to make the scheduling of these make more sense- instead of draining an entire watch/unit of personnel by scheduling so many on the time same day. Also, has anyone else noticed they seem to be intentionally scheduling people for days that would be during a normal furlo ext?

Same coppers who complain about this don’t complain about working funky hours for tons of OT tho.
When they ask you to do the survey at after taking the days class tell them to fuck off.
What they are not telling when asking what the day time start preference is, is that is not for you it is for them and their start time. Days can still get sent to afternoons and midnights as other watches are sent off watch as well.
That day start time is got THEIR convenience not yours.

If you voluntarily work those "funky" hours that's your choice, you can't complain. The Dept. continual lack of common sense regarding scheduling is the issue.

I was scheduled for days as a 2nd watch officer. After a week of being assigned the cancelled it, pushed the class 2 weeks back now scheduled to attend 3rd watch start 1900-0330 and be back at work start the next morning.
