So why on the police department Facebook page at a ceremony for interns is Deputy Chief Senora Ben wearing the same YELLOW glasses that have been worn in D.C. and other functions. That seems to be a violation of that section of the order pertaining to non conservative colored eyeglasses. So sergeants are expected to check shoes, bump cards, and other uniform infractions while there is a deputy chief in violation daily? This little shit is part of the problems with discipline, outside of promoting those that shouldn’t be promoted. I may sound salty but I’m not enforcing rules that aren’t enforced on those telling us to enforce the rules. It isn’t right.
Of course it isn't right. The "Rules" seem to exist only to hammer the unconnected or to pile on the punishments after some other violation is observed.
But good for the commenter refusing to enforce the bullshit that Larry and the command staff can't be bothered to enforce on themselves.

Hard to believe nearly 40 years ago I got sent to direct traffic for 8 months on the south side.
Car pulls up, uniformed driver says "The Deputy Superintendent of Police wants to know why you are out here wearing red sun glasses, blowing a red whistle.
It was 95 degrees, I was not in a good mood.
I looked at them and replied "Becuse if I do not, my sergeant yells at me."
They shook their heads, drove away.
Never heard from them again.

After 20+ years on the job I've seen it all the time, only incompetent people are rewarded, from promotions to protecting them when they fuck up. I’m a retired CFD boss. I used to tell newly promoted officers that they needed to follow all the rules until they had a good understanding of how important each individual rule was, the understanding of the consequences, and the ability to accept said consequences. And a deal breaker was breaking rules in front of subordinates and then enforcing those rules on them. A solid understanding of your job coupled with a heavy dose of common sense goes a long way. And, at all costs, don’t be a hypocrite.
Proper uniform and grooming? Whether or not the public or a boss gives you the respect you deserve, respect yourself and look professional.
These "bosses" do not realize that they are mocked by outsiders and looked down upon with zero respect. It would have been the same effect internationally if Kamala won.

One of the funniest things I ever heard a crackhead say was to an officer (who was older white woman) with this unnatural bright red purple hair about 25 years ago. When you see Los Angeles command staff and New Yori City command staff you will see that they have it together and look sharp. A police department is a semi military organization . CPD certainly is not. The officer with a photo record of uniform and appearance violations of command staff is on the right track as from what I see it is a disgrace and speaking of that, many of the rank and file are also a shit show of sloppiness.

I was pointing out the fact that they are coming down on shit like pants, shoes, smoking by the loading dock…and you have someone in a position of higher authority balking at the orders while we are the ones that will take the heat for not writing someone up for said shoes or pants. Just made a comment like to to someone during a convo today a copper with a beard, tattoos, and wearing 5’11s can have a billion uniform infractions and still and usually does look more presentable than some fat slob wearing everything technically by the book. I’d say 90 percent of officers who technically have on a correct by the book uniform does not have a better “commands respect appearance” than an officer who isn’t by the book
