Crime is Still Down

A brazen six-car convoy?

  • A crash-and-grab burglary crew fleeing from a break-in at the Louis Vuitton store slammed into another vehicle on the Mag Mile, killing its driver, police said. CPD has also revealed that seven burglars are in custody, including five who were in the vehicle that crashed.

It all started around 4:53 a.m. Thursday when the crew used a pickup truck to ram through the Louis Vuitton storefront at 919 North Michigan Avenue. Witnesses told police that at least six cars pulled up, and offenders scooped up merchandise from the compromised store. Officers arriving moments later saw the getaway vehicles leaving the scene.

One of those getaway cars, a Kia Stinger, didn’t make it far. Police say the Kia sped south on Michigan Avenue and plowed into an eastbound Honda CR-V at Ohio Street. The Honda’s driver, an unidentified man believed to be in his 40s, was rushed to Northwestern Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to CPD. Five people from the Kia were also hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. All are now in police custody. Stolen merchandise was recovered from the Kia.

And now we get to see if O'Neill Burke is an actual States Attorney or just another Machine tool. She's been better than the last few who occupied that office, but....what have you done for the voters lately?

A death in the commission of a felony used to mean that EVERYONE involved got charged with Felony Murder. This is an especially egregious crime, representative of a massive breakdown of law and order, and O'Neill Burke was recently quoted as in favor of full prosecution of felony theft offenses.

What's it going to be?
