Numerous people are already debunking parts of it, namely the PRT teams. But other comments are saying the "drag racing team" will be rolled into another unit. As for the tact teams, as we were walking out the door, some Districts have been fielding five teams while beat cars go unmanned, which is ridiculous.
There really needs to be a top-to-bottom revamping of the manpower distribution and some people are going to have to work midnights, the way we all did.

It’s always short on the watch. The Superintendent doesn’t care about our safety. They don’t care about beat cars problem solving.
PRT is not “disbanding” its just being restructured into summer mobile next year under one commander and it’s going to be 180 people. 2000-0500 hours, and mostly used for clearing up the beaches, block parties, parades and preventing commercial burglaries.

When is the dept going to get rid of the detail unit ? Rumor has it there at 15 officers in total. How do they expect to provide adequate security for Bulls Hawks in the winter and Cubs Sox numerous concerts taste of Chicago etc… 15 officers ? That’s a complete joke ! Please disband this unit and send them back to patrol we could use the help !

A1 PRT isn’t getting disbanded. We might loose one whole team whose going to narcotics and we might not get that 5th team back so we might operate with 4 teams only. We are getting a new Lt from 8. He is the tactical Lt currently in 8. Don’t know much about him but looks like it’s a50/50 split. I know the rumors are they are shutting down overtime but disbanding not so much.
Gang investigations are constantly in 007 executing the most petty search warrants on known bust out hangouts . The tact guys here bring in better quality work.

TAC teams or TACtards as some call them, are a joke these days. They seldom bring in a quality arrest yet they think their shit doesn't stink. Most of these kids join these "teams" right after probation and are then used as pawns by the supervisors who can't wait to climb the merit ladder. Get rid of half of them and man the watches instead.
Drag racing team lol….never seen those guys at a takeover. 99% of the time they are not even working a half tour. Seen these guys come back to the district and brag about little they actually do.
Frankly they should be embarrassed to call themselves police officers…security guards put themselves at more risk than these clowns.

This unit is in charge of Bulls Blackhawks Cubs and Sox games not to mention concerts and Bears games. With 15 people what can they really assign to these events after RDO’s Furloughs IOD’s and medical ? Maybe 4-5 officers per event ? lol are u kidding me ? That doesn’t make me feel too safe to be honest. It’s time to disband that unit as well and get their asses back to patrol !!
189 has been on life support since J.B. destroyed it. The unit was self sufficient. It's seizures covered all operational costs and then some. There hasn't been a significant seizure of money, drugs or guns in years. The narcotics game changed but 189 stayed the same. R.I.P O.C.D
PRT is going nowhere , they bring in the blue cards and go across all five districts in the areas . Most do great work in all the areas especially the South and A4 teams , A3 and A5 are a joke but the rest bring in numbers
Tac - Takes away from watch , and some are pissed that they do arrests like the watch , drunk pissers , holding offenders . 014s favorite , they will be cut by 1-2 teams depending on activity , no more day / relief teams they’ll be working afternoons and midnights overnight . 1-2 06 cars on second watch . Don’t be shocked if tac is gone by end of summer 2026 .
Tac in the spotlight also due to the several high profile scandals whether they’re legitimate or not , bad press , Dexter Reed , and the flaws the team had , 1863 team scandal etc .
Carjacking is not going anywhere but they will combined with the robbery unit , Will be called carjackings / robbery teams , this is why the unit numbers changed recently .
Drag Racing will be jointly combined with CIRT , if you work on Z3 you’ve probably noticed the uptick in CIRT activity in 012 lately . They want CIRT to do more , and the drag racing unit both so combined it becomes.
This isn't a rumor. The dept is going forward and seeking to fire the people in call back who have been there for years under house arrest for numerous violations. Also officers who were charged by Sota pop Fox with agg battery on lawful resisting arrests and found not guilty and placed in call back. Letters have gone out to them notifying officers, several who are on IOD disability that this is happening. Fop supposedly has been notified.
From a very reliable source at city hall. Effective 1st period of 2027 all sworn members will not be carrying firearms. Brandon Johnson likes how London PD does things and wants to see how that would work in Chicago. This will also cut costs on the range and purchasing ammo.
They need to get rid of Mass Transit. All they do is shop all day or sit in the State of Illinois building food court. Let's not forget the ANOVs written to the homeless in alleys for misc. BS offenses.

Definitely need more beat coppers, when we were otj we were told “ patrol uniform is the backbone of the department.” Tact when we were short responded and were assigned jobs, and had to write the paperwork. None of this, “ it’s a paper job send me a beat car to do the paper.” Put everyone from tact and detectives in uniform would help with presence and accountability.

Pure BS! PRT isn't going anywhere, they should be renamed the I don't get any weekends off in summer unit while I go to every festival and protest in the city late at night. The city needs them. Gangs just filled all FIT teams. The unit including all the TASK forces combined doesn't have 100 POs. Stealing OT is another story with the bankers hours some of them put in only to come in later to actually do some work for $$$$. Narcotics isn't going anywhere. There are only 7 street teams for the entire city (plus a long term team that is combined with the internet team). None of them are full. They receive complaints everyday to work on plus they have missions. They can't keep up and aren't getting any OT. They lose officers to BS teams like carjacking and others. VICE wasn't mentioned but they have less than everybody else, same goes for ASSET and Buildings. Intel is a joke (ghost payrollers) but they have less than 50 officer's. They need new leadership. Hopefully with DD retired someone will fix that problem. Carjacking is a big scam. They have stupid rules and basically don't show up for work unless the Dicks call them for OT. Those other tiny scam units are the same as carjacking. No shows unless it's for OT. I could see someone finally rolling all these units into a single group (already exists called Criminal Network Group). Unfortunately clout rules the day. Captains and Lieutenants are overriding Commanders and Deputy Chiefs by crying to someone above. TACT is almost like PRT. They are all stuck on nights in the summer to go to protests while the others basically work midnights in the district. They are offered OT everyday. They can extend whenever they want. They at least attempt to do police work. The watch makes their own bed by lying down on every job they get. Lazy Dog Asses!!! CPD needs a house cleaning like there is no tomorrow with a clear chain of command that is followed. There are too many personal units just to steal OT.
City wide robbery team is ridiculous. They served their purpose back to the areas where they are needed. Makes too much sense though, we need to create spots for all the connected guys that wish they were detectives but never were. Sound familiar, Tim?

I heard the same from a reliable, credible, anonymous source at city hall.
Correct but only 2000 start on weekends. I also wouldn’t say it’s going to be “summer mobile” but yes they are going to be reorganized into one citywide unit. It’s going to be beaches, events, protests and large gatherings and that’s it. No deployments for “crime” in the districts. The thinking is use the PRT for all of the events along with CIRT and leave the tac teams in the districts. They will have a handful of straight day teams with a 1000 start and 1800 start during the week and 2000 start on weekends for straight night teams. Patrol wants them up to 200.. all PRT combined now is budgeted at 170. Pretty much they will be the large gathering and party police and then patrolling beaches and working details/protests/special events all over the city when not doing gatherings. So kinda like a citywide CIRT except no 10hr days and having to deal with 11th district block parties every night. Should be in place by 5th period. For tac guys this is good news because even if there is something going on in your district with a festival or something PRT will be moved to handle it.

Hate to tell you but PRT is going somewhere. Not disbanded but all rolled into one big citywide unit. Get use to the working late nights on weekends. Going to be a citywide unit to work all the events and respond to large gatherings and parties. In the winter it will be special events, fests, concerts, games and all that stuff. Not sure how true but I’m told that the special events teams who only have about 40 people are going to be folded into it so they are just over 200 but that will be their job now. CIRT will stay in 001,018 and 012 and PRT will be citywide events/parties and also help CIRT downtown instead of using district tact teams.

my uncle worked narco in the late 60's early 70's. back then they had about 60 coppers working. They worked a full tour, did warrants, had one or two undercover coppers to make buys from street dealers, phony docs that just wrote RX to anyone with cash. These units don't do jack today.

I have been hearing rumors for months that Tact was going to fall under citywide control. Still assigned to a district, but in a central location. No word yet on where they would muster. Under CW they would be able to respond to teen takeovers more quickly. etc...They would be wearing the uniform of the day as well.

Let’s be real. Everyone on CPD has extensive training in CAPS . Disband every police officer from P.O to Commander assigned to CAPS in the district,d unit and Headquarters. Fill those Beat cars . Sets and FTO’s get an extra 45 minutes a day, let’s assign them to handle community concerns.
I heard that too. I also been hearing that 3rd and 2nd watch are going to start working 12 hours. 1st watch will be split up to shore up both watches. There will be details and Zero OT. If the CTA gets fed money maybe, then some OT. Coming sometime soon in 2026 to a district near you. Let the phone calls begin!

Does anyone remember when they “centralized” the gang teams? The teams started the day in their home Districts – they had to call the Area every day to get their marching orders. Sometimes they would stay in their home District, and sometimes they would scramble elsewhere. It was a logistical disaster. Then of course they really centralized it with Leo as the commander. That only ran a bit more smoothly with ADHD Boudreau as the admin sgt.
