As We've Said for Years....
If there are no consequences for crimes, you're going to get more crimes committed....and this time, it killed someone:
A man who repeatedly benefited from generous plea deals in gun cases, including a two-year sentence for his third felony gun conviction, was sentenced to 20 years in prison this week after pleading guilty to murder.
Standing before Judge James Obbish on Monday, Isaac Corona, 29, admitted to murdering 21-year-old Justin Gamino in Back of the Yards in May 2022, just four months after being paroled in his third sweetheart plea deal.
Three felony gun convictions, and he was still getting sweetheart deals....from Crimesha!
CWB does the heavy lifting, listing cases and reduced sentences that he got over and over and over. They also list a couple of judges that aided and abetted the ongoing leniency that contributed to the murder:
- Judge Flood
- Judge Angela Munari-Petrone
We're going to recommend our usual habit - vote "NO" on every single judge in Cook County this election, and get your spouse, family, friends and neighbors to do the same.
But what we really want to do is concentrate on two very very bad judges especially:
- Peter Gonzalez who knows the system is broken, says in court that the system is broken, yet continues to release individuals like the "Loop puncher" to attack unwitting pedestrians;
- Tyria Walton who infamously released the naked crack addict who stole a police squad car and ran over an Officer in the 011th District. Then when the bad publicity ensued, manufactured a lie about being threatened by CPD Officers, but failed to notify Cook County Sheriffs or file a formal complaint with COPA/IAD regarding this alleged "misconduct."
She didn't file the beef because it might have required a signed affidavit and you can't have a blatantly false document like that floating around with a judges signature on it.
Are we tilting at windmills? Probably. But what else do we have?

His third FELONY gun conviction.
Proving once again that they don't care about “gun violence.” They just want to take YOUR guns away.
First off, Flood and Angie Petrone are two of the most pro police judges we have ever had. Flood retired and petrone is still around but don’t bash them. If the Asa says they reached a deal then they reach the deal and on to the next one.
This place is a Joke. The last one turn out the lights.
Since these winter riots began, I’m starting to see the Loop Puncher in a more favorable light.Drop him off in Minneapolis with brass knuckles.
SSC, Angie PETRONE was one of the best states attorneys I ever worked with. Good to the CPD, great to the victims, I believe she is a good trail judge. Maybe orders from above the defense attorney scum bags hate her.
Judge Flood & Petrone are solid. They are very pro police. Were a thorn in the eye to Kim Fox & her administration.
Agreed.
Problem is, you vote 1 idiot judge out another replaces him/her!
LMFAO. That would be great cause he does only punch White females and there a lot of them blowing whistles over there although they are 1 down now that Good is taking a dirt nap.
20 years for murder, so he should be out in 7. At least he killed someone who didn't matter.
Plus he only gets 20 years for murder. Will be out in 10-15. Total joke!
You’re just another fool. I’ve dealt with hundreds of ASA’ s over the years. She’s just another political hack. And, you are an idiot. We don’t need another good “trail” judge. I’m not going on some damn hike. We need a judge that will hold these scum bags accountable. You say not a hack? I say she’s a democrat judge supported by Preckwinkle. Now what?
Remember when a criminal got a life sentence for murder ????
Petrone was a great judge, you have this one wrong. Don’t ever disagree with you much but have to on this choice.
Vote No on retention in general. Recommend a full court press on the inept judges as identified above and focus our collective block vote to remove them from judgeships. If we can oust even one of them it's a good start and sends a message. It may be something FLOP can get behind too.
LMFAO!!!!!!
Nailed it
The judge has the right not to go along with the ASA'S recommendation.
Petrone is legit a good one. Maybe we need to know some specifics before just saying they’re all bad sometimes better to know the devil than to find out the one you don’t.
Takes Whack a Mole to another level
The Flood family runs this city and there's nothing we can do about it.
You have a better chance at residency then removing any of these Judges.
OT: Any word on if this shooting/fire had anything to do w/ someone knowing a certain Juvy was about to be released, & taking revenge on those coming to collect the innocent child?

Larry Flood was on CPD and a Det for several years . He realized it was a dead end job and became a lawyer. He made judge and was on bench for 23 years and retired. Great guy and always backed the police. The ASAs are the ones that work the deals out not the judges. If you think this job is legit you better find another job.
Sure the judge can.. but very rarely happens. Most of the time, unless extreme circumstances the judge never gets involved. That’s not just here, that’s everywhere.
Another comment about “pro police” judges. Why not use the word “fair” so it doesn’t make them look slanted-as if we-the police-have them in our pockets?
Why not look up each individual judge and figure out if they should be retained or not? Oh, that’s right, that might take some time and effort and why bother to do that with something as important as your vote?
Angie Petrone is a great judge and was an excellent ASA. Larry Flood was equally good.
Hey, FYI, these two judges are the best that we’ve seen in a very long time. Or at least top 10 criminal judges at 26th St. in the last 20 years. I’ll happily vote no to the others. I know Flood is retired and I think patrone may be already or well on her way
