I’m not a huge merit basher. I’ve known a lot of people who have gotten merit who were phenomenal coppers. Then of course you have the many many non deserving. This merit list could be one of the most embarrassing I’ve ever seen. It’s bad.

The U.S. Supreme Court decided to rule against President Trump.
President Trump needs to defy the Supreme Court. Because the President has the authority to write executive orders. The President was elected by the people. The Supreme Court was not elected.
The last sergeant test was an absolute joke. Imagine if two people walk into part two of the exam.
One person studied all the orders, the laws, etc. The second person did not study at all. Both have an equal chance of doing well. How does this make sense?

If she was on the mayor's detail, then she was already making sergeant's pay, so why would she leave that to become a sergeant on the watch in a district? Most likely answer is that she is not going to a district. This is another example of certain people getting pay raises with promotions. She will end up back on the mayor's detail doing the same thing but getting lieutenant's pay now. It's so legitimate, right? Given, not earned.

Like Commander Sparks in Area 4. Her last two detective picks were her office personnel. I’m sure they went above and beyond. In fact, one of them were her merit detectives picks and then she made her a merit sergeant. She must’ve done some great filing work. us sisters gotta stick together. Smh
They have a dumb down the score for part one because half of the PO’s can’t pass it (likely because they didn’t study ) 52% passing score lol. No incentive to study for part one. anyone that does, your wasting your time. The biggest joke was the last detective test 44 questions or whatever it was open book. at least make it at 100 questions. A bunch of numbnuts running the show. Bernstein made money on that.

Wanna know how bad our juvenile justice system is? The juvenile offender charged with two murders up in 019 and in 002 from carjackings and robberies had 6 carjackings and robberies in his recent rap sheet.. six.. and he is allowed to still be out on the street and ultimately murders two people during robberies and carjackings. Crime started to go up when charging as an adult went from 17 up to 18.. when these kids start getting wild and driving at 16 and 17 and start robbing everyone they get a free year still as a juvenile. They need to go back to charging as adults for ALL felonies starting at 17.

No one above the rank of Commander should be allowed to submit
merit packages for promotion. No Deputy Chiefs, no Deputy directors,
and absolutely NO CIVILIAN personnel within the department, period.
The best people who would be suitable for promotion (merit or
by list) would be those who have been FTOs for several years.
They already have had experience supervising officers (recruits).
Commanders should only be able to submit merit packages for
people who WORK IN THEIR COMMANDS.
The FOP should propose all of these demands in the next contract
talks.

Been going on for awhile. When Kim Fixx and Larry Lightfoot were around they looked at the color of the Offenders skin, not the color of the victim. This is why Larry closed closed the JISC. First she tried to imbed a racist social agency (LCLC) in the JISC and even most of them after a couple of months realized how messed up the Juvenile system was towards the victims. Yes, it wasn't perfect. Some of the assigned Dets were lazy and worse. (Anyone who went there knows who they were). There were some good Dets and Sgts who really tried to follow the law and treat every incident individually. This did not fit the Democratic narrative. Disbanding the JISC and having the areas, who are already short staffed, do more processing, made it so there was no real examination of the situation and led to more referrals. Cant upset the democratic voters and actually help the victims.

Say what you will about Nadia Chikko and the NATO case, but she and her partner did what they were sent to do. They interrupted the violent plans of a group of people who wanted to harm people and destroy property during the NATO Summit in Chicago in 2012. Why else would those people have had the molotov cocktails all ready to go in that apartment in Bridgeport.
You can’t blame her for the jury not being able to understand the complexities of the case. She and her partner saved coppers and others from harm and maybe even death.

It is rare to encounter a supervisor with less than ten years on the job that is even remotely effective and competent. I will admit that our district has some supervisors with considerable time on the job who can't make a decision without excessive delay and consultation. Then, the wrong decision is still made. The other day, the line at the desk was so backed up that the Lieutenant had to call us all in to the WOL office in order to handle all of the arrests while the DSS fixated on a couple of inventories. It's getting unbelievable!

how many caps officers in 3? how many hidden in commanders office? does the captain have a secretary? was captain a merit sarge and lieutenant? sounds like a ladies man.
There's an epidemic of supervisors with no time on the job who did nothing but push a beat car handling the most basic of jobs. Even with supervisors with time on, they did nothing their whole careers. People want to talk shit about go-getters, tact guys, and OCD guys but what you learned by doing work is so valuable on this job. It puts you in the 10%. Learning to call the ASA, going to court, constantly doing different arrest, inventories, etc. That repition is so important.

That guy is a complete head case. Thinks he’s the smartest person in the room and literally has no idea how anything works. Was a Lt in Area 4 but has no idea how the D-unit works. Guys got like 34 years on and is 59. Great choice to make someone who’s maxed out a Capt.

If I was smart, capable of studying, and could pass tests, I wouldn't have this job. I would have done great in high school and went to a good collage and obtained a B.S. or Masters. I'd be at a 8-4 with weekends and holidays off making twice as much. This job is one step away from working at a post office. If you crack the top 300 then you are the fool for wasting your talent.
