A suburban woman is facing federal charges for allegedly lying on paperwork when she purchased the gun used over the weekend to kill Chicago Police Officer John Bartholomew and critically wound his partner at Swedish Hospital.
Olivia Burgos bought the Glock 29, a 10-millimeter pistol, at Range USA in Merrillville, Indiana, on May 27, 2024, according to a federal complaint filed in Indiana on Monday. When she completed the standard purchase paperwork, she confirmed she was the “actual transferee/buyer” of the weapon and that she was not unlawfully using any drugs, according to an ATF agent’s affidavit.
Both of those statements were lies, she allegedly admitted when ATF agents visited her after this weekend’s shooting.
In fact, Burgos was addicted to fentanyl when she bought the firearm and had used the drug that same day, according to the filing. She also received money to buy the gun from her then-boyfriend, a convicted felon who was legally prohibited from purchasing or possessing firearms. For good measure, Burgos listed a La Porte, Indiana, address on the form when she was actually living in Highland, Indiana, with the convicted felon, the ATF agent wrote.
The ATF tracked her down pretty quick, but nothing yet on how the gun transitioned from her to Yolanda Talley's nephew.
And now we're getting word that the Detectives that tracked down Yolanda Talley's other shooter nephew was removed from the Area shooting team and the States Attorney's Office is getting pressure to drop the charges.
Let's see if the media picks up on that one.

How do you stop this in the future? Sgts are supposed to ride on domestics. They should and have responded to hospital details in the past. There are plenty of sergeants that can check on their cars during a tour. Most of the shackles are gone and need to be replenished by the city. It was missed by a combine 30 plus years otj crew. Maybe some newly trained officers under the consent decree should be the first line of defense.

If Yo-yo Talley interfered in an investigation to the benefit of her niece/nephew it needs to be an official misconduct criminal charge. The case needs to be seen to the end, and if guilty, a sentencing that does not include probation should be rendered. Save the pension fund.

Officer BB, a female officer detailed to the Detective Division interviewed to work in the Area One-Area Technology Center aka ATC Room claiming that she had a technical background and that she would be willing to pull video from crime scenes and private citizens on behalf of the department. After being detailed to the D-Unit (Unit 180), the P.O. refused to hit the street. Instead, the officer works the shift of her choice, works her side job as a clinician, changes her hours occasionally and order packages off of Amazon. The packages are sent to the 002nd District Desk. Sgt. SC who is in charge of the ATC Room told the officer that if she didn’t want to hit the street or pull video that she had to leave the ATC Room and sit on the floor with the other officers and detectives. The female officer cried to Commander Watson, then brought her friend who is a fellow clinician to the Area One Detective Division to tell Commander Watson that the officer can not work the street. Needless to say, the female officer is currently sitting in Commander Watson’s front office ordering her packages and making her coffee in peace. The officer’s medical history shows that she has a few IOD medical absences, one which alleges that she slipped on black ice in the 002nd District parking lot in the past.
Bet Yoyo is still getting a braid gold pension. These pensions should be illegal, this’d has to stop!

That's what kimmy handed out two separate straw purchaser's, who had bought over 20 guns each and multiple firearms recovered with bodies on them. She could have sent a message with federal charges. 10 years per gun and $20,000 per gun in fines. We'll have to wait and see.

Did the transport officers search the offender when handed off by the arresting officers? Did the offender/prisoner transfered to the hospital first before making it to the district to be processed and then he claims he's sick and the wagon crew has to make the hospital run to get the medical clearence so he can hit lock up. And at the hospital he was supposed to be wanded for weapons? Who searched the offender? thats the first question to be asked??

Arresting officers should have searched him, wagon should have searched him and hospital security should have used the wand on him but may have been lax believing the A/O’s searched him and wagon crew. It’s easy to check if the did. There has to be hospital security cameras by the area they wand people. We know the time so it’s easy to view the video
