Larritorious saying a third gun was recovered from the scene at Swedish, which implies a breakdown of Custodial Searches on more than one occasion. Guns hidden in fat folds should always be remembered as a possibility....remember Sox Park.
Someone says Swedish "wands" prisoners in custody, but that didn't discover the weapon in question.
A name has appeared in our comment section, and if you google it, there are many other crimes committed by this individual, most involving guns, mostly in lakefront Districts, all or which should have been multi-year sentences. If the name is correct:
- here he is with a gun again, caught after committing another violent robbery Saturday, shooting two Police Officers;
- he may have been out on Electronic Monitoring, still skipped Court, so yet another SAFE-T Act failure;
- he might be related to a certain exempt who was forced out a while back;
- this might be either the same nephew (or an additional nephew) with a habit of shooting people
More info will probably trickle out today, verifying or debunking some of the above info. Like we said, we have no idea where to even begin with this clusterfuck.

Cameras, tasers, ifaks, narcan, how about add a metal detecting wand or at least have a sgt with a wand respond to all in custody situations. Initial custodial and subsequent searches are key but this does show a major mistake. Please provide us some wands and more shackles. Sorry John and partner. Glad to know you. We are still here. There had been various comments in the previous thread about telling police to remove handcuffs by hospital personnel before treating prisoners. Physicians & ER personnel are well aware why a prisoner is in handcuffs. The last thing the staff wants is to be injured by a prisoner. The ERs have restraining equipment like hard & soft restraints, nylon strapping, velcro & tapes. Don’t forget hospitals receive mental patients that are not brought in by police.
In an MRI restraints have to be non ferromagnetic and the patient is checked and questioned extensively. If a patient/prisoner needs to be uncuffed the police and ER personnel should transfer the prisoner to non metal restraints and both should agree that the restraints are secure and will hold.

To begin with that press conference with the Superintendent and Mayor was absolutely cringeworthy. The Mayor appeared to be in a canonic state and the Superintendent talked and talked but gave no real information except everything is under investigation. It’s about 2:50 am Sun and still nothing.
Contrast that incident with the one that occurred at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner at the Washington Hilton Sat night. There were a couple thousand in attendance with President Trump, the Vice President and the Cabinet. While the President was seated a gunman rushed the security screening area which prompted a response by the Secret Service whereupon one was shot in the vest and was ok. The President and Staff were removed to the White House where he and many others answered reporters questions. The President gave some great responses. The gunman was identified and It was discovered he was from Torrance Ca. They did an immediate search warrant on his house. What is ironic is that the Senate Democrats are holding up funding so these Secret Service Agents have not been paid for over 60 days. This dinner was televised live and so was the press conference after the incident in which they put out all the information, and there was no we have to wait for the investigation. This occurred over a 3 to 4 hour period. Fox News.com has the photos, videos and stories on their web site.
Contrast that with Chicago’s lack of information from what occurred at Swedish Hospital. We are not asking for the officer’s identities as we respect their privacy. But what the hell happended?

As a Wagon guy for 16 years. Once the cuffs go on they do not come off till we hit the interview room or lock up! And when we get a fighter. We always go anywhere in force. The minute he needs to go to hospital search him one time then your partner searches him again. We all know they are looking for an escape route. And they know every watch will let them take a free ride to hospital. Even if CFD arrives in ambulance cuff him to gurney. But search again. In all the time I transported prisoners to hospital. Only one time was it a legit medical need. The guy stopped breathing. Swallowed his drugs……his choice. All the rest were wastes of time and cleared to process?

Keep this in mind if you ever have the occasion to arrest the governor.

This piece of shit was arrested and charged with 2 counts of armed robbery and 1 count of carjacking last year . At the time of his arrest he was on parole. He was ordered detained at his initial court appearance last year, but was subsequently released on EM. On March 11 of this year a warrant was issued for him in regards to the current state charges of armed robbery and carjacking. The death of a police officer and the attempt murder of another police officer could have been prevented if it were not for these fucked up politicians and their fucked up Safe T Act. Side note… how does IDOC not issue a warrant immediately for a guy on parole who’s charged with armed robbery and carjacking? Illinois could be the most fucked up state in the country. At 08:12, I’m not saying this isn’t a good idea, but we all know our fellow officers tendencies for short cuts and not putting hands on gross people. I could see officers supplementing this for a Pat down completely and not finding other things. Ghost guns are now 3-D printed and can be made mostly of plastic. I’ve also experienced arrests with carved knives of plastic and wood. A good search is always in order and an item that isn’t department regulated may malfunction (yeah I know we’ve shitty equipment). Just remember, I could see officers not putting batteries in it or charging it and well, still a problem. It’s also inexcusable that the department shouldn’t have this by now for every lock up and every beat car.

To 09:37 - it is the job of every officer to search every offender they take into their custody. If a set of officers arrest someone and hand that offender off to you to transport, you should always search the offender no matter what. You can never search too many times.

I don’t write much on social media but as knowing this young man from the age of 15 years old when I was assigned to St. Andrew, his Pappou Fr. John Kutulas introduced him to me in the altar and it was there those many years ago that John told me that his dream was to be a police officer.
I told him it was an honorable profession but it takes much dedicated service as well as the dangers of job.
I told him “John whenever one walks out the door there is always a chance that something could happen but the percentage are not as great as they are for police officers. Are you sure this is the life you want. It’s also a very thankless position where you are cursed at spit on etc.”. Though I have seen other individuals appreciate and thank officers occasionally.

This just amazes me that these young kids are willing to go out and protect us and get rid of the bad people even though they know there is a great risk involved.
John is a hero to me. The person who took John’s life didn’t only take his life, he took a child away from his mother, he took a husband away from his wife, and he took a father away from his 3 year old daughter. He took a friend and a spiritual son from his priest and church. He took a friend away from all his friends. He took a comrade from all his Brothers and Sisters that wear the uniform.
Instead of living in the grief of the loss, let’s remember the joy of the beautiful memories he left us with. I know for a fact he touched many lives. I know for a fact that he made a difference in this world for many people that he came in contact with.
He was a dedicated brother to all the sisters and brothers of the Blue.
All he wanted was the best for all. He always looked for the betterment of the other human being. Above all he loved his family. His beloved wife his children. His mom and his sister and brother. Family was dear to him and he always looked at being with them at all times. He will be missed.
I truly believe that John has become an angel of God and God has welcomed him in heaven because as the poem goes he did his time in hell.
Rest in peace my blessed brother. I thank the Lord that He placed you in my life. You were an inspiration to me seeing you fulfill your dreams as a police officer, a husband and as father.
I am sorry that evil came and has tried to distract us from what you were doing, but it will not distract us of who you are because you are still alive with God and what you did here on earth.
