The CTU Bears?

As the Bears continue playing the Indiana card against Illinois lawmakers:

  • Illinois hopes to take the lead over Indiana in the Chicago Bears stadium battle with a new proposal that would give the NFL team property tax certainty while also providing a statewide property tax relief sweetener.

State Rep. Kam Buckner, D-Chicago, plans to brief Illinois House Democrats on the new amendment Tuesday. The PILOT measure, shorthand for payment in lieu of taxes, would allow the Bears to renegotiate their property taxes with Arlington Heights. The property tax relief element, a new addition to stadium-related legislation in Springfield, is essential in getting support from lawmakers outside of Chicago, including Republicans.

Guess who is injecting themselves into the debate?

  • Illinois lawmakers face a pivotal week as the Chicago Bears weigh whether to flee to Hammond, Indiana, and now prospects for state legislation might have another hurdle.

Multiple legislative sources confirmed to Fox Chicago that the Illinois Federation of Teachers (IFT), led by President Stacy Davis Gates, has lobbied to put language in the bill that would be more favorable to school districts. Gates is also the president of the Chicago Teachers Union.

Another legislative source said the IFT is "actively lobbying against the bill."

As someone speculated, a largish portion of the Arlington Heights Bears revenue generating would go to the already generously funded Arlington Heights school district, depriving the CTU - which isn't in the business of actually educating children - of their portion of the graft.

But don't worry - the CTU will just maximize the property tax increases again like they've done for the past few decades.

So what is the score of campaign contributions made to each legislator?
Another example of a political action involving extortion.

The Bears would be idiots to trust Illinois politicians. The could change the laws to what ever they want after the stadium is built. Smart money would just get a good deal in Indiana and leave.

The CTU is NOT in the business of teaching students. It’s a UNION lobbying for Chicago teachers. CTU does not train its members to teach - the only training CTU support is activism.

So sick of this drama. No one will attend games anymore anyway. No matter where a new stadium is built this state.

Everyone who can afford tickets is fleeing anyway. All the public assaults, crime, and lunatic nonsense, teen takeovr,s, corruption and on and on is overwhelming.

Another tale of woe, one of many from the dying City of Chicago.
If the teachers can't have it, they crap on it.

Arlington Heights has a good start on the needed infrastructure, sewer, water, power, 290 exit, rail stop... $$$

And far enough from the city to slow some of the riffraff.

Perhaps Ms Gates believes it would be good for her Indiana property value?

Any way we can get the CTU and all its members to relocate to Indiana? Then we can build a proper school system and hire professional teachers.

The new Bears stadium will be privately funded and that will call for almost 200 million in annual property taxes, that is why the Bears are holding out. I have an acquaintance who is a lobbyist in Springfield. He told me that the president of CTU is not well liked in Springfield and has little influence. So lets see how this plays out. The NFL is also involved and the Bears cannot move to Indiana without their permission. The decision is very near. I think they will head to Arlington .

No one care where the Bears play anymore. This story has been overplayed. And now that the teacher's union is involved somehow, I no longer trust that the outcome will be equitable for anyone except the Bears and Fatass. Maybe he brought in the schoolteachers because now they can say "that it is all for the children" This deal has stink written all over it now.

The Democrats keep chanting about "tax the rich" and make them pay their "fair share." Yet, they want to give a profitable business worth billions a tax break. Shouldn't they in keeping with their party line "tax the rich" actually raise taxes on the Bears?

I live in Arlington Hts.

The local school district has already shown themselves to be run by money-grubbing retards.

The team owns the property or some entity of theirs does at any rate.

It’s currently vacant land that will sooner vs later be taxed as vacant.

The team can afford to just leave it vacant as a tax dodge or potentially donate it to a nonprofit and take the $180m write off. Then it stays off the tax rolls permanently.

Hell, if they’re smart, they’ll set that up themselves, direct the money the Bears pay to the nonprofit for the rental of the stadium and the facilities and then all of that money could fund another version of Maryville while the state, locals and county would have to be content with sales tax.

Vrabel thanked media for their "patience" and said he's had "some difficult conversations" with family, friends and colleagues since the photos were published

Vrabel said he doesn't want the scandal to become a distraction for the team

Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel has broken his silence on the rumors surrounding his relationship with fired NFL reporter Dianna Russini.

Vrabel, 50, spoke to media during a press conference on Tuesday, April 21, where he addressed the photos of him and Russini — who are both married to other people — hugging and holding hands at a luxury hotel in Arizona for the first time since they were published in the New York Post two weeks earlier.

Because the parents are connected to the progress of their children.

I had a morning meeting at Olive School in Arlington Heights. The school parking lot was almost full; odd.

Turns out that a massive rain storm on the new landscaping washed down a ramp, breaking the glass and filling the school with MUD.
The school district sent a platoon of custodians, and the PTA sent a battalion of parents and teachers to clean the mess, so the first day of school would open on time.

THEY DID IT!!!
They hauled a large pile of mud and sod out of the school, cleaned the floors and walls, and looked exhausted from working all night.

I have also spent time in Chicago public schools. They have many excellent teachers, but are overwhelmed with deadwood and slugs.
