A 13-year-old boy is fighting for his life after he was found shot between two homes in South Chicago on Thursday afternoon, police said. Initial indications are that the shooting occurred about 15 minutes before he was found, but there were no calls of shots fired in the area. Mayor Brandon Johnson shut down the city’s ShotSpotter gunfire detection system in September 2024.
Officers responded to two calls from people who had discovered the boy shot in the 8200 block of South Coles Avenue at about 3:07 p.m., according to dispatch audio. The callers began CPR on the child before paramedics arrived. Police said he was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head.
No calls about Shots Fired for at least fifteen minutes....at 2:50 in the afternoon.
CWB has this as the eighty-third instance. There's video of two people leaving the area, but if you combine no ShotSpotter with the Facial Recognition ban efforts, it's just another example of democrats catering to criminals.
UPDATE: Seems the "victim" is one of those 13-year-old non-demonized carjackers that never seemed to pay a price for his crimes.
Maybe the bill came due?

Banning facial recognition is not a dem thing. Wanting more government oversight is a dem thing. You want the government watching your every move and keeping your face on file everywhere you go, move to china.
Why would we need shotspotter? It’s not like we have any shooting problems around here! Inconvenience is the cities motto.
He was shot in the face with the bullet exiting his head. He’s a local armed robber and car jacker. Yes the 13yr old is. Seems like someone found him for a little payback.
Yes another Brandon Body. Everyday before you open the news you already know that there will be a story or a few of Chicagoans killed or shot. And it is due to the failed policies of Mayor Johnson, Governor Pritzker and all of the one party rule elected officials who let it go on. They could stop it but they won't. President Trump had a rally in a college in New York where he gave the "Angel" family of Loyola student Sheridan Gorman the opportunity to speak about it. Sheridan was shot to death in Chicago. They mentioned Pritzker and the failed policies of the Sanctuary City/State. Johnson & Pritzker should listen to it, maybe they will learn something.

Before ShotSpotter, there were "shots fired" calls almost all evening long in places like 006, 7, 10, 11 and a few more. Why would they stop?

Go to ER in the far nawth and a wee west shore: no admittance until after screened like the airport. They learned pretty quickly. Was told it was due to an abundance of caution.

So if I shoot someone who's carjacking me, am I required to report it to the police? If my house or car is burglarized, do I have a legal obligation to call the police?
Mother lives in the south suburbs. 60 years in the same house. They only shoot 3-4 times per week.

Shotspotter was ridiculously expensive. Their patents, if any, expired long ago. The city of Chicago could hire someone else to write a workalike.
