A Bomb?
A Chicago alderman says someone set off a bomb outside his home early Saturday, shattering a window as his three children were sleeping. But police dispatch records show CPD was not sent to any calls of an explosion at the time of the blast and an initial police investigation later on Saturday morning found the object appeared to be a firework.
Ald. Byron Sigcho Lopez (25th Ward) says the blast happened around 12:45 a.m. near his home in the 1900 block of West 21st Street. He posted a video Saturday evening that appears to show a large firework detonating at a street corner. Glass is heard shattering, and a vehicle horn is triggered by the explosion.
It was a firework.
A BIG firework with the potential to maim, burn or kill, but still a firework. Lopez and his press people are screeching about a bomb though and someone is pushing the nine-hour response time as something unusual - which it would be....for an actual bomb.
One of those "Police District Councilors" is calling it political violence before any investigation has even been begun, so leap to your own conclusions.
But it wasn't a "bomb."

Another bullshit claim by an alderman of political violence. Years ago, on the westside, another alderman claimed a bullet had been shot through his window. However, the damage to the window showed the bullet was shot from inside. This simple-minded anti-police goof shot a gun off inside his apartment and tried to make himself a victim. Seems to be a regular theme in certain communities.
So...when they community is shooting fireworks at the police...are they a bomb ?
Firecracker, aerial fireworks and general kabooming is now in season. It gets worse every year. Now they do it on Memorial Day, New Year's Eve and "celebration" of sporting events. The season and pre season gets longer every year. We have been leaving every year for over 30 years. The alderhuman should try leaving the city to get away from the kabooming. If he thinks he is a target then he can just join the rest of Chicagoans who have to put up with it.

A really LARGE firework is a small bomb.
One evening years ago, I had to argue over the phone with Bomb and Arson that a pipe bomb that exploded in a garbage cart was a bomb and not a firework. The bomb blew the cart in the alley apart the Supercart and sent pipe fragments through a pine board fence and as far away as a quarter block. It was as if B&A wanted to kill this crime on paper.
I think I'll call him La Bomba.
