The Obama Presidential Center has been touted as a launching pad for jobs and workforce development on the South Side. But some of the local contractors hired to help build it say they are paying the price for the project’s delays and cost overruns.
Several subcontractors on the nearly finished $850 million campus say they are quietly fighting to collect millions of dollars in unpaid bills for completed work and are being pushed to the financial brink, providing a new window into the fallout from the center’s widely reported construction issues.
The companies, including several established minority-led firms, allege a portion of the unforeseen costs on a project that came in hundreds of millions of dollars over its original estimated budget has been pushed onto them and other small contractors least able to afford them — jeopardizing jobs and the future of some businesses the historic project was designed to elevate.
Their claims reveal a hidden human cost of the project’s inflated price tag and threaten to spoil the legacy of one of the highest-profile developments in the city’s history.
Any updates on that $470 million maintenance fund that was only funded with a single million dollars? Chicago taxpayers are looking down the barrel of a $469 million shortfall that is 100% unaffordable.

And it looks like there are already case reports being generated at this location! Someone FOIA the reports? Criminal damage to property…..the best ones are the projectiles striking the building! It seems Valerie Jarrett got paid annually y'all to the tune of $740,000.00 (2022, 23 & 24) by the O'Bauma foundation. Jarrett is raking in the bankroll and payroll while this O'Bauma center of progress seeks 100 unpaid volunteers to work the attraction. If Jarrett is still waiting for her direct deposit, I'll believe the center has no cash money to operate. If she got paid, you know what this foundation is about. Lots of other O'Bauma staffers made six figures as foundation executors for this non-profit. Re-distribution payments for top tier loyal democrats as the crime overrun South Shore community lives from government paycheck to paycheck. Right? Compassion in action.

Entry to this center requires a valid photo ID. Why require an ID for entry unless they doing warrant name checks? I voted and no one demanded a photo ID.

The city estimated that this center will generate 3.1 billion in economic development. The city better install more red light and speed camera's around the park and have an army of dept. of revenue ticket writers to meet their goal. And raise the amusement tax sky high on tickets for this entertainment venue.
Theyed better get the teen takeovers at the 57th Street beach under control cause its within eyesight of this historic site. And clean up those four wheelers using sidewalks as Nascar race tracks in the upscale Hyde Park. And put up reefer smoke detectors much like shot spotters in the South Shore campus facility for immediate enforcement response. Theyed better get the murders and shootings down to an acceptable level as not to tarnish this economic revival in this poverty stricken democrat controlled social experiment.

It sounds to me like no one in Chicago wants this library here. No one likes the design. The neiborhood around it sure doesnt want it.The substandard contractors who did the substandard work arent getting paid. I wonder how many code violations were covered over? Will the foundation start sinking like CPD HQ? Why is it being forced upon us? I think we know the answer. Any fool who think its opening will be a big plus to tourism and city coffers, think again. I predict that in 12 months time a homeless encampment will be set up nearby. Maybe the gift shop inside can set up a publicly funded NGO and start handing out blankets, needles and free pipes under the radar. Some of those NGO's can soak up tens of millions.

I heard a children's attraction was to be included in the Obama Center. The center sought a top democrat donor fundraiser and the name of Jeffery Epstein was floated. Obama himself said no that their is too much baggage and scandals associated with this top producing democrat fundraiser. Obama said absolutely no to this controversial recommendation. Obama said he is sexual scandal free as no woman has come forward to date and accused him of inappropriate, unsolicited sexual behavior/relations of any kind. Not in my name. And Obama intends to keep it this way. You got to have lots of Pride knowing you have been committed and faithful.

I’ve read somewhere that hundreds of millions of dollars of taxpayer money was used to redesign roads and make other improvements around the Stark 0bozo Castle. The monstrosity itself allegedly was paid for with donations, but we were on the hook for the infrastructure end of it. Actually, no, friends of the park actually did not file any lawsuits regarding the Obama development. Instead, they just attempted to get the plans to include more park land elsewhere. I’m sure those in powerful positions probably paid them off in order to avoid bad publicity in court.

Heh - he has a history of welshing on debts. He had promised hood rats and their mamas in Indianapolis $12.00 an hour to "volunteer" for his campaign in 2008. The day before the election, his campaign staff closed up shop and left town in the dead of night, without paying one cent to any of those "volunteers." Republican mayor tracked down those staffers and had them corralled to come back, b/c he knew that riots would ensue if the folks weren't paid.
