Why are we just hearing about this now?
- Two weeks ago, someone drove into the 020 parking garage and committed suicide. The body remained undiscovered for (depending on who you talk to) an hour or a few hours.
And no one tipped us off.

Hey Bud, Id notice if this person parked in my handicap spot. Cant walk far but can still have 78 smoke breaks a tour.
Oh, man, that's cold. A fellow officer? Perhaps no tip off because people want to protect the family? Please, everybody, NO job is worth taking your life. No matter how you feel in the moment, there ARE people who care about you. Chaplains for one. And you may not realize how much you mean to someone when you're in a dark place, but the light DOES return. Been there, had loved ones there, fortunately most of them refused to believe the lies depression tells. Choose life, it has an amazing talent for turning around and being worth it.
It wasn’t undiscovered for an hour or more. There was at least one other civilian in the garage as it was happening. The victim was also a civilian whose wife had just reported him missing.

020 sits on the the site of the old Spa Motel 5414 N Lincoln. Maybe had guilt feelings over what they might have done at the motel in its heyday. That area is haunted for sure.

Pretty uneventful. Dude reported missing and suicidal a few hours earlier. Did CPD a favor by doing in secure garage, for processing purposes? Yes/no. Debatable
And yes totally unsecured police facility. Like 99% of CPD. Unsecured and a huge threat.

Meh, bum died in the washroom in 014 and nobody knew for a couple of days. It happens.
Officers were out in the field serving and protecting.
I’m surprised some inspector didn’t find it while doing a city sticker check, then I remembered they would be hiding in the office or at home on the clock.
Same thing happened in bathroom in 024! So what’s the big deal?

It's not the job that causes coppers to off themselves. It's the stupid decisions coppers make in their personal lives. They just happen to have easy access to a firearm.

Police should be able to handle their station security. The have the desk crew lock up usually 2 Lts and officer coming in and out of the station

Honestly, this place is so underrated. Everyone knows Vasarely for the Op Art prints but the actual architectural center with those 16 hexagonal cells is mind-blowing in person. Been there a few years ago and it's a total visual trip. Pretty cool that Centre Pompidou is partnering up for the 50th anniversary. If you're around Aix this summer, definitely check it out before November!
