Number One Again

But in a completely off-the-wall category:

  • Chicago has been ranked the worst city in the country for bed bugs for the sixth consecutive year, according to Orkin's annual list.

The pest control company's rankings are based on where it performed the most bed bug treatments between May 12, 2025 and May 12, covering both residential and commercial sites.

Los Angeles came in second on this year's list, followed by Detroit at third, Cleveland at fourth and Indianapolis at fifth. New York fell just outside of the top 10.

So raggedy.

How long was Chicago #1 in rats?

Chicago has a HUGE rat problem on the 5th floor at City Hall...When you have the west side, south side and illegals here is there any question why we have such a bed bug problem???

Never waste your time with any Orkin surveys or claims. They are based solely on the amount of business Orkin does in a city, it never counts independent exterminators, so is Orkin doesn't do a lot a business somwhere, according to them, it doesn't have a problem with bugs or rats, even though they actually do have a serious problem with bugs & rats!

Hmm. The description implies rank is by raw number of service calls, but _not_ in proportion to population. In which case Chicago (#3 in population) doesn't look so bad. Cleveland is #55 in population and #4 in bugs. Springfield is #309 and #6.

Just a Civilian (who would like to see Orkin's actual numbers)

And to think that when the Springer show was taped in Chicago, the hotel that accommodated his guests asked them to bring their own linens b/c previous guests had brought both bedbugs and pubic lice. Now Chicago supplies its own.

Worst city for bedbugs? Go figure, has to do with the education, cleanliness and where the majority of occupants of Chicago spend there time..
