Another Blown Search?
A man arrested for allegedly possessing a little pot and resisting Chicago police officers was facing only misdemeanor charges until he was taken for a quick court appearance and a routine security screening revealed that he had a loaded firearm in his crotch, according to authorities.
Chicago police officers arrested Philip Robinson, 23, around 9:30 p.m. last Tuesday, July 28, in the 6600 block of South Laflin Street on misdemeanor cannabis possession and resisting charges, according to CPD records. Ordinarily, he would have been in and out of the courthouse within hours.

There are obvious questions being asked - at what point did this prisoner have the weapon - because of what happened just three months ago. And we're afraid we all know the answer to it.
That isn't some sub-compact semi-auto by the way. Is this a training failure? Are cops scared someone might call them gay if they search the easiest and most obvious place to hide a weapon? Does someone have a death wish? Because this is how you get yourself and your fellow officers killed.
Reach down and jingle the boys. If dude gets squirrelly, punch him right in the groin. He'll get the message and you'll save everyone's life - including his.

Generally the guys who try to act tough, threaten you when you're searching them, act shifty, they got something. Some of these copper are afraid of their own shadow when interacting with criminals. The louder they squawk, the more likely it is they got something.
Time to StripSearch all prisoners down to their underwear and then scan then wand them for weapons.
Not sure if it was mentioned but prisoners are hiding guns and contraband in armpits.

Compare the size of the weapon with the size of the person's hands. There is a marked difference in the length of the arms. The weapon appears to be hanging low at hip level. Do any gun experts know if that is an extended clip? I am astonished that it was not discovered prior to the radiograph.
For the non police but a huge "fan" of the police. Can someone explain how he ended up being X-Rayed?? I know some guns are plastic but there's metal somewhere can you use one of those wands like they use at the courthouse. I pray for your safety but whoever "missed" this should not be the police. Just so you really know........CPD is unrecoverable. The city has hired really weak people (mentally, physically, politically, philosophically, and morally). Those people make bad police officers. There are maybe 1000 warriors left.

First off training is HUGE problem or should I say lack of training. The training this department is pushing down everyone’s throat is bull shit. Most times it has nothing to do with actual police work, but more about this fake consent decree and impartial bias nonsense . Secondly, the majority of new hire do not want to be the police. They want to sit inside a cubicle and collect a 100K a year while doing nothing. Another huge aspect is coppers nowadays are scared of a lawsuit or CR number and quite frankly I don’t blame them for feeling this way. The politicians have set up a system that not only emboldens criminals, but makes the police ineffective. The current administration both police and city hall are happy with scarecrow policing.
WTF is going on with this department? Reprimands? Get the fuck out of here. This should be a minimum 3 days suspension for both partners. If you're afraid of some smelly ass dudes nuts, get off the job. There's no room for this.

Started in the Sheriffs Dept before coming to CPD, been here 8 years now and what came with me was my Garret THD handheld metal detector Wand. It’s about 6 inches long mounted to the molle of my vest. It’s used on everyone. I may miss dope tucked in his booty but I will never miss a handgun. Deplorable how this was missed.

In my view, Chicago police officers are working in a city controlled by socialist Democrats, while CPD is inundated with endless e-learning videos and training sessions focused almost entirely on what officers should not do. The result is a department burdened by bureaucracy instead of being empowered to proactively address violent crime. The only real ray of hope comes from a small number of aldermen and a State's Attorneys who support law enforcement, hold violent offenders accountable, and make public safety a priority.

Using a wand is definitely important, but it won't detect 3D-plastic-printed guns. Wands are a resource and supplement, but actual searching is the most important.

Thank you for chiming in with complete ignorance. The wand was removed and given back to the P.O. who purchased it. This was after two P.O.'s missed a full sized Glock that was tucked into a waistband and the lockup personnel found it. When the Log Number had to be pulled, those P.O.'s blamed the wand for not "finding" the gun. Maybe you should learn how to properly search

Why dont we know who made a mistake? If an officer made a mistake, well that officer should be fired. A officer had lost their life and another was wounded and in the hospital. I would denied them and tell them to process their prisoiner before they come to lockup. especially when they cut corners when a prisoner was injured. They would try to be slick about it and try pass it to lockup so we would call for a medical transpot because they didnt want trasport their pinch to er to get a clearence. Nearly as many Chicago Policemen have been shot and killed during the last seven years since my retirement than during the 29 years I worked. DEI.
