Looks like the Department might be stuck with Waller for a while:
The process of selecting Chicago’s next top cop hit another pothole Monday when four of the seven commissioners charged with finding finalists for the job skipped a meeting where they were supposed to select a firm to conduct a nationwide talent search.
The absence of a quorum forced Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability President Remel Terry to adjourn the meeting after taking three brief comments from audience members. Exactly what will happen next is unclear as the clock ticks down on the commission’s 120-day deadline to identify three world-class candidates for the mayor to choose from.
The four no-shows were throwing a hissy fit because they weren't permitted to change the rules and remove the one person who might have conservative leanings and happens to support the police far more often than any other panel member....because her brother was a murdered CPD Officer.
And as noted before, keeping Waller around in spite of finally having a First Deputy in place to serve as an interim Supe just shows the utter uselessness of pretty much the entire upper echelon of the Department.

A positive first step would be to dissolve the Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability. Just more unqualified and incompetent political patronage. Hit them with job abandonment!!
I really don’t see any one within CPD who knows what they are doing. I have no confidence in any of them.

No matter who submits an application for the superintendent spot. They know who ever gets elected may or will fire them the second the new mayor is sworn in….so no one is applying. So why are they trying to hire a company to find applicants?

We cant remember how long ago it was when CPD could produce a qualified superintendant from its own ranks. The fact that it cannot speaks volumes about the leadership that comes from within.
I agree. No real "World class candidate" will want to come to Chicago and work for a DEI clown mayor. Now lets get down to important brass tacks. When is Waller going to make the next class of merit promotions? Some of out elites are left having to serve in the same rank for over a year now.

4 useless idiots should be replaced. I remember when they submitted 3 names , mayor didn't like the names and picked Eddie Johnson. I was happy with Eddie, he didn't apply because he wanted Escalante to b e the Superintendent. Eddie was the real deal, street cop like Cline,Hillard,Martin and Rice

Since the main requirement for the position is being black, it kind of limits the choices. And Waller's month as a Lt before being made a commander gave him the experience and knowledge to be the Sup.

Pardon my ignorance, but are there ANY command staff that made it up the ladder without MERIT? You know, reasonably legitimately passed those few tests to climb the ranks? Anyone? Out of thousands of CPD personnel, how many have NOT been DEI’ed?
Frog was a dirty 005 tact guy back in the day. As an Internal Affairs investigator he was thoroughly incompetent and when he left the unit he left over 100 open cases, many of them fucked up beyond help (which in some ways was ok because he couldn't screw the Officers). Calling him as dumb as a box of rocks would be insulting to the rocks. Also, he is tied in with Pfleger (sp?) and keeps a photo of them together displayed prominently. He needs to retire.

Fred Waller will fix this Merit Promotion system. He is surrounded by incompetent command staff and doesn't like it. This is good news for those of us that scored above 70% on promotional exam. He wants to make the next picks for the merit set. and lt. class.. This will be interesting.

The Supt. is a figure head position and plays no factor in the day to day operational necessities. Supt. gets his marching orders from the department's Chief of Staff, whom is directed by the Mayor's office.

If President Trump can return to The White House and serve as the 45th and the 47th President, then “ Dallas Dave”, “Out of Town Brown” can return as Superintendent.
