Yep, total incompetence gets rewarded again. Oh well, back to working my side job while I’m on the clock. Honestly, this job has gotten pretty easy now that we’re apparently not supposed to do anything anymore. So I sit in the car with Netflix on my phone and my laptop open, focusing on my actual career. The extra time given to me is a real blessing.
I’ll take every bit of OT they want to give out and double my salary cuz of it, while doing essentially nothing for the company. All while making sure my real career gets the attention it deserves. Turns out, doing less is the easiest way to get paid more. It really doesn’t take much effort either, just the realization that this dept has become nothing more than a good source for health insurance, and extra money. Once you stop pretending this job is anything more than that, it becomes pretty damn easy.
Mannion, do you tell your family you earned all your promotions, or do you just keep lying to their faces?

I am so confused, please help me out. When I applied you had to be 21 just to apply with 60 college credits, and they wanted to start requiring a bachelors degree. Now the educational requirement is this:
EDUCATION/MILITARY SERVICE: At the time of entry into the police academy, applicants must have at least 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) from an accredited college or university (Documentation Required). Educational requirement may be waived if applicant has:
- Served two (2) consecutive years (24 months) on active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States and received an Honorable Discharge (Documentation Required), OR
-Completed at least 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) from an accredited college or university AND has served one (1) continuous year on active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States (Documentation Required), OR

She was made without a clear assessment of her competency, leading to a series of missteps that have only compounded the issues we face within the department. Stevens as Chief of BOP and the few Incompetent individuals recently promoted to Street Deputy was one big cluster f-ck from the start.

Mannion will be better at the new position than most, Neckermann has been the Acting DC for over a year. He deserves it to be official. He has been hard working and a decent and fair boss, in my opinion. People will always criticize and complain, but there have been incredibly horrible bosses that I've encountered in the past, so these two will be fine. I've worked for both in different capacities. Believe me, if you are complaining about these two, you must not have much time on the job or have been lucky enough to work for excellent bosses. No comment on the other changes.

I don’t know Mannion in the slightest but have worked details downtown off and on for the past decade and anytime he was in charge we got cut at a decent hour, he seemed to be the only one that cared about getting the troops out, even cut us early for nascar a few times and we appreciated it. I’m surprised he’s getting the hate but again I don’t know him at all. Hein on the other hand used and abused manpower and would redeploy you to other events in the city

There were generations of police officers that never went to college yet they had work ethic. They paid attention and learned the job and the streets. My opinion is to give the written test and if you can read and score high then you should be eligible to be hired providing you’re not a criminal. I’ve worked with some brilliant police officers who got on the job before any college was required. They were some of the best police officers I ever worked with, and they taught me a lot..
