Twenty Five Years
Without a doubt, one of the most defining events of our careers and lifetimes.
While it didn't directly affect us in terms of loss or injury, it had an profound impact on work, home, family, travel, finances, safety....just about everything when you really drill down. It still hits home every September.
When we started meeting and working with Officers who weren't even born when the towers fell, we were painfully aware that we had become the "old guys" we had always teased in the past.
Prayers for all of the victims of that horrible day.

Free 18 at Olympia Fields that morning. Had to leave after 9 holes after being called in to work. Never got back there.
9-11......Some people did something.....
It was the greatest attack against America. Muslim terrorists hijacked planes and flew them into the towers murdering just under 3000 innocent people. Every day on earth, there are multiple attacks by Muslims on our planet.. They are subhuman.
I was on the blue line headed to traffic court and as soon as I got there we were told court is canceled. It was the first day of my RDO and I spent the next two days watching non stop news. It was surprising they didn't cancel our RDOs that day.
God bless all the victims and families. We will never forget!
Please also remember that September 11th, 2012 is the anniversary of the attack on the U.S. embassy in Benghazi.
Remember the sacrifice of J. Christopher Stevens, Sean Smith, Tyrone Woods, and Glen Doherty.
And yet here we are… a mere quarter century later… electing a muslim socialist mayor of New York…
…(not to mention the other elected positions in local; state and National positions).
How quickly we forget 😕
25 years ago, I was an early Sgt in a northside district. After early roll call, we heard about the first attack. We were in W/C office getting info on the tv, when we watch the aircraft hit the south towers. Late roll call was canceled and everyone hit the streets not know what will happen next.
Then we were informed that flights were being grounded, but some planes weren’t responding. Word came down that the Pentagon was attacked and the Sears Tower was a possible target. I was instructed to form an incident team to respond if Sears Tower was attacked. Thankfully this never occurred but panic still was rampant throughout the city.
When the military fighters started to fly a CAP over the city, calls flooded in about planes attacking the city. At the lakefront, when I saw those F-16, I was so thankful we weren’t alone.
The fear did not end after the day ended. For the days and weeks following the attack, calls of low flying planes, suspicious packages and powder were constantly reported.
Looking back today, I’m thankful we were not attack but also aware of unprepared we were. Yet I am so proud of my Officers and other Officers working that day, ready to step into harm’s way.
Throughout this, let us not forget the heroic action of others that day all over the Country, and let us not forget those who lost their lives on that fateful day. I will never forget!
That night I went to work & was surprised at all the flags. Many put up improperly, I went to walgreens bought index cards & left notes in many mailboxes. The next night 99% of those flags were hung correctly.
Silently, for a moment in time most alive were banded together

Retired suburban cop. I was called into work and assigned to our regional airport in town. It got real when we received orders from the bosses and the feds that there were unaccounted for planes. We were authorized to fire on any plane that attempted to take off. As this was happening, 2 F-16's could be seen in the distance.
I still remember it as if it happened yesterday. Unlike now, RDO's weren't cancelled and I wasn't called into work that day.
I went with a contingent of CPD for a memorial service a little less than a month afterword. After the plane landed and they opened the airplane doors you could instantly smell that sweet sickly odor of burned bodies, and we were miles away.
At ground zero the towers were still on fire, and they had a few pumper trucks still putting them out. One building next to the collapsed towers had a giant 30x30 hole right in the middle of it from one of the airplanes engines flying into it.
It was surreal.
25 years and still no one has learned a thing. Electing radical muslim scum into offices and allowing sharia law and mosques to permeate the western culture. Our forefathers are spinning in their graves like a rotisserie.

Soon after came all the nonsense calls from people in the ghetto and the barrio thinking they were getting anthrax mailed to them. I even had a job at Kelly Park about possible anthrax in the park by a tree. It was moldy white dog crap.

Worked afternoons, so was up and having coffee on the couch, watching the news.Saw it all unfold. Was surprised we weren’t all called in to work that day immediately, wonder today if there was ever a plan for an unexpected attack, and if there is even one now in place. Never ever forget.
The pics of all those firefighters taking that one way climb up the tower stairs still gets me.
Just think of all the elected moslems in public office. Peoples' memories are as short as their attention spans.
The big problem with this country is we forget. The terrorist know this.

Watched TV for a week solid. Could not believe my eyes. How could some be so evil? Hopefully, the "virgins" they were rewarded with were all in their 90's.
For about a month, people were kind, decent, forgiving, going to church.

I was on my way to 26th and Cal, listening to Brandmier on the Loop. Thought he was bullshitting, got there and everyone was leaving the building. I went to my court room, sat with the court sheriff' and the second plane hit. Remember like it was yesterday
I was in NJ on an arrest. I had training in SF 2 days later. Instead of hanging around for the initial, I headed back to Chicago, then made my way to SF. If I would’ve stayed in NJ, there’s a high chance I could’ve been on that early flight which went down in Shanksvile, PA. God bless the innocent souls on that plane as well as those on the other 3 fateful flights.
Couldn’t tell you 10 things about my wedding 30 years ago but remember that day and week vividly.

He kept claiming Chicago was never a target, and we don’t know nutten about nutten.
I was working in the police room at Juvenile Court and about 11AM they closed the building and courts Civilians went home We were sent home to get into uniform and return to work Was weird they wanted no one in the building but we were told to return
I remember being detailed out of HQ that day after we saw the 2nd plane hit. About 8 of us ended up at of all places assigned to the Sears Tower. The mass of humanity that was walking back to Union Station was overwhelming. The loop was shutting down and people were going home. It was eerily quiet.
The fox was invited into the hen house. Best remember the Aesop fable about the lady and the snake.
And........ The scum elected a moooslim president.
I’ll never forget watching the local news that night, they were doing a live report from outside Chicago Ridge Mall, the camera showed there were adherents of “the religion of peace” out there cheering. That clip has been memory-holed.
I remember watching the news about the Mosque in Bridgeview having issues with area Residents when candy was thrown in celebration. It aired once. WGN I believe.
Worked in Special Operations (SOS) and HBT back then, I was on the days rotation that period heading into work for 9 am roll call, just passing 26 and cal when the second plan hit. I rushed into work going through every red light into human square knowing we were going to be utilized immediately. Our unit was assigned to midway and O’hare airports. I was assigned to O’hare with the assignment of protecting the entrance of the air traffic control tower in terminal 2. The air traffic control tower chief came down and introduced himself to us and showed us what I’d badges were allowed into the tower and informed us they were in the process of grounding all flights in the US. He would come down to smoke very often, if he wasn’t a chain smoker he was that day. He would give us updates of how many planes left in the air. He informed us there was 1 plane left not responding and it that was surrounded by f16’s, this was the plane that ended up crashing in Pennsylvania. I drew my own conclusions that day. I will never forget.
I will also never forget the people that were scheduled to have flights that day from O’hare airport. We were clearly under attack and these people only cared about how they were going to get home and when will there be flights again, screaming at us as if we had any say so. I get the anxiety on what to expect but we were just attacked by using airplanes and they wanted to get on an airplane.
I worked 16 hours that day, I went home and tried to sleep because I had to be back to work 12 hours at 7am. We worked 12 hour shifts at both airports for several weeks and we remained at both airports for several months.
I will never forget or forgive what you did to us!
Saw an interview with Giuliani several years when he said he knew everything had changed when he saw a Chicago policeman directing traffic in Manhattan.
Let us not forget that America elected a moose limb as president less than ten years after the attacks... TWICE...

I remember the 911 commission's investigation and then President Bill Clinton's (D) Deputy Attorney General Jamie Gorelick who wrote a March 1995 memo forbidding communication and information sharing between critical federal intelligence authorities and federal law enforcement after the 1993 World trade center bombing. What a distinguished, accomplished lawyer Gorelick was serving on so many government agencies and powerhouse connected law firms after the colossal failure directly related to her memo which impeded government agencies to connect the dots leading up to pre-planned airline hijackings leading to mass casualties and destruction. America remembers. Never forget.

Was visiting my daughter after recently retiring. Constant watching of TV. Heard a noise or some commotion outside, around noon. Looked out the window and saw a flat bed truck with Muslims or Palestinians on the truck dancing and cheering and playing music with loudspeakers. This occurred at Taylor and Laflin. So no one can tell me there wasn’t cheering or celebrating for the horror. So when the media says there was no cheering, I decided to believe my lying eyes and ears and not the media.

Hillary Rotten Clinton's State Department failed to take action and rejected emergency security requests to secure the Embassy compound. The U.S. Ambassador and three American Servicemen were killed. And today in New York, Hillary Clinton without a conscience attended the ceremonies at Ground Zero with Barack and Michael Obama, Joe Biden and Dr. Jill and Bill Clinton all in the company of Chuck Schumer. (Jamie Gorelick was not able attend) Birds of a feather flock together.

You were able to hear a pin drop. Anyone walking north saw everyone walking south staring at the sears tower. Ran into a lovely woman in tears because everyone she worked with in NYC was gone. Their offices were all set n the towers.
Arab American students at Carl Sandburg H.S. Demonstrated in favor of the attacks in the cafeteria and outside the school on 911. No one was suspended or reprimanded. 25 years later a coach at Lincoln Way H.S. is criticized and threatened with firing because his team referred to a running course as the Jungle and may have used racial invectives towards the other team. Luckily no loss of life.
I was in the Secretary of States office renewing my DL as I was due to start the academy on 24Sept. They had tvs in the lobby back then and saw the events unfolding and couldn’t believe what I was seeing. It all made me anxious as hell being an almost new recruit, but it didn’t deter me. They didn’t postpone our class and started on time. A year later while still on probation we were detailed downtown for the one year anniversary. It was packed down there, people from sidewalk to sidewalk everyone UNITING AS ONE! Even Received a personal blessing from Cardinal George as he made his way through the crowd. I wasn’t on the street yet immediately following the attack like some of you all, but I’ll never forget.

I was working late in the Area from a murder the night before. I remember when there was talk a plane was coming for the Sear's Tower. Our Sgt's response, "Make sure the Detectives all have uniforms and wear your hats." That was the CPD response. Horrible day. Thousands of people went to work in beat cars, at firehouses, and to their offices, as they did hundreds of times before, never came home. Never forget.

Nobody cares what you were doing or where you were on 9/11, unless you were at ground zero. Instead, tell us what you did in the 25 years after 9/11? I reinlisted and served two overseas combat tours, then came home and got hassled by my asshole watch commander when I wanted to use my furlough over the summer of 2005. Then I watched Iraq and Afghanistan (and Chicago) slowly go back to shit until we left both with our tails between our legs, thanks to a soft serve Americqn culture and corrupt politicians.
Yep. Even though I wasn't in NYC at the time, to this day, every time I hear a low flying large plane, it makes me think.
They were retelling stories on 560am Friday morning. I almost balled like a baby hearing them. So many fine people lost their lives that day helping their fellow citizens.

My friend, it was crazy! My partner and I were assigned to a heavy weapons vehicle and assigned to the base of Sears Tower. I have no idea what we were going to do if a plane hit it? Our heavy weapons were locked in the trunk under lock and key and if someone assaulted the building we would have to get to the trunk 1st! Not tactically sound but better than not having them at all! And yes we were all assigned there for months, and don't forget the water filtration plant!
Remember Daley saw CPD there and ordered them back to Chicago? That's what I was told! T or F ?
