Um....What? Why?
This story is....unusual to say the least:
The man who shot and gravely wounded a 1-year-old girl inside a Chicago Lawn home over the weekend intended to pull the trigger on an electric drill but accidentally pulled the trigger on a machine gun in his other hand, unleashing a burst of bullets that struck the child in the back of the head, prosecutors said Monday.
Davaris Washington, 38, is now detained pending trial in connection with Saturday morning’s shooting that left his girlfriend’s young daughter intubated and in critical condition.
Sure....because people ALWAYS wander around with a "machine gun" in one hand and a cordless drill in the other.
A few minutes after midnight, Washington picked up a firearm with his left hand and a cordless drill with his right hand and walked into the living room.
As he approached the couch, which he was apparently in the process of repairing, Washington intended to rev the power drill in his right hand to see if it would be too loud to use with the sleeping child. Instead, he allegedly pulled the trigger of the gun, which was equipped with an auto-fire switch that allowed it to unleash multiple rounds with one trigger pull.
You know, they really ought to outlaw these "switches" as they seem overly dangerous and prone to idiots using them improperly.

If the impoverished family had not been deprived of Nike/Converse "lynching shoes" and 97" big screen TVs from the nearby freight yard, this tragedy would never have occurred.
The neighbor should be charged with hiding the gun.

I heard he was trying to fix a bleacher for midnight basketball. He had the gun because he was security for the games So he was trying to multitask and the lack of sleep from him going to medical school caused that fatal mistake. Now another poor man is robbed of a promising career

Seems 38 year old Davaris may have missed or opted out of shop class.
As such a tool of the trades that many are familiar with was not quite so to him. It also seems that he was more familiar with a tool from another trade and went to default mode.
Full disclosure---In my now many decades of building and repairing ____, I have never tried the tool in one hand-- weapon in the other technique, only thing remotely close is dragging a deer out of the woods.
Talk about a hail Mary defense...Also...to my jaded mind my 1st thought was that he intended to pull the gun trigger. That would leave the baby Momma all to him. (Especially iffn the baby mamma was not his biological baby momma) Get it?
I always walk around with a machine gun in my hand when I'm fixing things around the house. Say hello to my little friend.
any word if the shooter was a licensed concealed carry holder, had a foid card, passed a background check, bought his ammo in cook county paying that extra tax,,,,you know, all those things the dems say everyone else must do?
