- A Chicago police officer has been recommended for termination after COPA sustained allegations that he sexually assaulted his then-18-year-old girlfriend, provided her with alcohol, and later accessed the police report identifying him as the suspect. Officer Alberto Rodriguez, 36, a Chicago police officer since 2014, is stripped of his police powers and assigned to a unit that takes police reports by phone at the city’s 311 call center, according to a police spokesperson.
The entire story reads like a bad Hollywood script that no one would have bought because for it to be believable, there has to be some element of truth in it. This one defies all of those norms....as in "how could someone hit all of these red flags without triggering some sort of overview?"
And these cases always seem to fall in that time when standards fell completely by the wayside, enabling a shit-ton of people who never should have been the police, get on the job and make everyone else look bad.

The quality of cops on this department has dwindled. It’s embarrassing to see what passes as a police officer nowadays. The majority of the people that have been hired within the past 5 years aren’t employable as security guards at a ghetto gas station.

Why would I trust one of these officers at 311 to make a proper police report. Seems most of them were caught dirty.
It’s unfair the way city leaders hire and promote unqualified people. You have people promoted that have off duty incidents fighting with policemen. Sexual harassment. Scoring in the 59-60’s on promotional exams. It’s political not merit.

That guy was a dog as a police officers on 1st watch in 008. He was never a police officer, he just wanted to wear the costume and have the decent pay and benefits. Definitely someone you wouldn’t want if you or your family had to call the police.
I got hired in 2017. I’m pretty sure in all of the years of policing there are people who should have never gotten hired. How about back then when you’ll would look out for each other and officers would commit domestic batteries and etc and never get arrested. I went to high school with a kid who hated the police because his step dad would beat his mom and that officer would never get arrested when the police came. He lived on 811s beat. Also that officer retired out of midway airport.
