Speaking of Ugly....
How about those White Sox?
One more chance to put a cap on their Cinderella run.
And since we're talking sports for a moment:
Mike Ditka, the Hall of Fame tight end who played on the Bears’ 1963 NFL championship team and coached the team to its only Super Bowl championship after the 1985 season, has died. He was 86.
He died about 9 a.m. Friday surrounded by family and friends, a family spokesperson said. The family had not announced funeral arrangements as of Friday afternoon.
He was a throwback to when the NFL actually meant something. Ditka wasn't a fan of the woke league, expressing disdain for the barely talented hack QB Kapernick, saying if he didn't like the USA, he was free to leave it.
Quite the character.

Need more people who are "famous" who have the same opinions that I do. I would love to tell 100,000 people what is wrong W/ the greatest country in the world!!!! My problem isn't that I don't have opinions, I don't have the availability to step up to a microphone & speak to 100,000 people at once. I loved when Da Coach spoke his mind. Miss him & sad that another same minded person has passed away. Oh & kapernut W/ his rich white parents & every privilege available still failed as a quarterback so came up W/ this BULLSHIRT about being a black activist. I guess it didn't work when most people went home to their cardboard box & Colin the jerk jumped in a Bentley & drove to his mansion. Sorry he did this shit đź’© to himself. Grab a hunk of đź’© & smear on some bread & eat up jerk
Congrats to Lieutenant Kellam from area one PRT on making commander. You will be missed boss!
Worked at his namesake restaurant on Grand Ave but never saw him there.
Sad. Those were some crazy times. Ditka owned this city for a decade. His face was on everything, and all the crazy commercials. Love him or hate him, he was a Chicago icon.
A real man, not afraid to say what he means and stood behind what he said. Ditka and John Macket re-invented the tight end position.
Real Chicago Sports Fan says...
Only sport I follow is.....Midnight Basketball

Raising a Mimosa Toast in your honor Coach, RIP to a Chicago Legend.
Bullpen gives up to many runs. Relief pitchers offer no relief
Signed Sgt DuBois
Me too.
RIP, "Iron Mike" Rest now in everlasting peace
Ol' Vet retired
Da Bears in the championship! Damn! That was a GREAT YEAR! Much happier, fun times. Da Coach will be missed! RIP
Years ago Ditka was asked to run for the Senate after the Republican dropped out due to domestic allegations. He declined. The Dems ran a no body and the even less no body named Barack Hussain Obama went from no body State Senator to President of the US. How life would be different now.
Very strange. I never worked there, just went as a customer. Saw him and his wife there many times. Great steaks and chops. Rest easy, Coach.
Ditka - what/who made him reconsider running for U.S. Senate (IL) in 2004?
Oh hell no! Coach was a shot & a beer guy, occasional wine. Don’t disrespect him like that. Pansy ass.
Suck ass
We need more midnight basketball!
Bears play the Packers two days after Ditka dies. I am hoping for a Bears massacre of the Packers under the heavenly guidance of Iron Mike.
No
If Da Coach spoke of an NFL "kneeler" now, no doubt he'd be fined! How far this society has fallen.
Rest in Heaven, coach....from when men were men!
AND....Your point is ?????
Kessing Bandit ....Re-invented the ..."Tighter end position"....
Next question.
He would have to run against BHO. BHO had a holy destiny. Mike could have won, but he didn’t want to be suicided.
if you can find it.
check out the pre interview w johnnie morris where ditka is belly aching, and johnny morris says " what the fuck is the problem" ditka- "i dont want to be here or do this dam interview. then 5 4 3 2 1, johnny smiling OK where back with coach ditka, interview finished and ditka gets up and walks away in his underwear... classic!
No one likes writing shit about the Lt more than Guy. Your not missed, 4161 Team
Losers blew it hahaha
Too many cooks in the kitchen?
Yes, quite a character and a true Chicagoan, he even looked like a bear. :-)
Have others here seen the ESPN 30 for 30 documentary “The ’85 Bears”? I highly recommend it.
Our ’85 Bears was IMO the greatest NFL football team ever. But, as in a Greek Tragedy our bears showed “Hubris” - too many players thought they were Gods.
We should have won at least 3 Superbowls. We only won one Buddy Ryan didn’t get along with coach Ditka. Buddy Ryan left after the superbowl victory.
Jim McMahon couldn’t stay healthy - then he sabotaged the team against the great Doug Fluttie.
That rediculous Rap Song “The Superbowl Shuffle” - Nope, Vince Lombardi Packers would never do that.
Also the NFL Strike year messed us up.
Yes, a Greek Tragedy - the 1985 Bears IMO the greatest NFL football team ever, but…
And look how damaged so many of these near Gods became.
Dave Duerson - brain damaged, commited suicide.
Jim McMahon - brain damaged dementia.
Danimal - Jim McMichael a vegetable confined to a hospital bed in his last years.
I still think Garry Fencik could have, still could run and win Chicago Mayor.
Sigh.
What could have been.
Rest in peace Coach Ditka.
And women were glad of it!
