Run off for the top office only.

Supposedly Dean is all over Facebook, asking for a debate between the two candidates and bemoaning the spending of $100,000 to have a runoff election. We would suggest that if Dean is that concerned about the $100K, he ought to be the bigger guy and step aside. After all it's for the children membership. Otherwise, shut up and campaign.

Otherwise it's just a drop in the bucket, and totally worth the money for our benefit. Blow it out your ass Dean, now come to my 2100 Rollcall and lie to me.

9 out of 17 elected trustees are RETIRED! Soon to be 10 out of 17 when another retirees soon with the 55 and out medical program. 2 of 3 Sgt of Arms are retired. Recording secretary retired. Why the fuck are these many retirees running the union when they have zero ability to vote on any active matters?

-----

Along the 20 years I said the same thing, and basically got noting along the way. It was about me then.. there's a good chance I've paid more union dues than you and still got nothing. Well, it's still about me and I'm looking at retirement soon. One day you'll understand. Retirees have a vote, and it's not an issue of them versus us. A few more years of getting screwed and you'll get it

3/11/2017 06:08:00 PM

The reason this statement doesn't not hold up is because any active officer will at some point be retired. Any active elected official will always be looking out for the active and retirees cause down the line they will be there too. A retiree on the board while looking out for the benefits of the retirees does not have a card in the game for the actives. Now I do understand that they might have knowledge and "should" have the interests of the active at heart, at the end of the day when it comes down to it they will always put retirees first.

Add the simple fact that elected retirees can not vote on any matters regarding the contract. Can't vote on grievances.

If you go on the simple statement that they have knowledge part, well just like a FTO or veteran while working you pass that on to others to carry the torch when you are gone.

The sad truth is that most, not all, but most retirees on the board are there to pad their pension another $7,200 a year from the stipend. A simple fact to prove this is that for 3 years you never see them at any roll calls in the district. Come election time they magically appear. Prove me wrong and list the District and roll call along wth the names of Board members who have shown up.

Soon the Supreme Court of Illinois will dismiss the Underwood case and the City will win their fight to eliminate retiree health care. Do I want that, no, but it will happen. After that what card will a elected retiree have to continue the push to control the make up of the FOP board? Pension? Once again that is an issue that all actives have a serious claim to because they will be there at some point too.

Ask another question. What other FOP Lodge has the current board make up like Lodge 7 in which retirees can have this much control?
The answer is NONE. Call the State Lodge and ask. Hell, call the fucking national and ask.

RUMOR HAS IT...

Over the course of meeting with the Membership, several Angelo Team Members have been told by Officers and Detectives that our oppositions' main goals are less about winning, and more about "getting Dean in a run-off."

RUMOR KILLER...

Really, that is their goal? To cost the Membership more money, like some of them did in the past? The cost of the election and run-off would be in excess of $90,000 of Membership money, $90,000!! This election seems to be more or less of a joke to some, but not to us.

Directly from Angelos campaign website. So he says he says at one point the cost of and election And run-off would cost $90,000 and now he is posting all over Facebook that a RUN-OFF would cost $100,000......make up your mind. Which is it?

How about a by law about the retirees hi jacking the FOP???

This is just one of the many reasons we need new leadership and vote for Kevin Graham. Silent Dean gave us a terrible contract and we sure don't want him doing it again. We need Marty Prieb and Kevin Graham together. Is it true Angelo will be 63 and retired soon? We sure don't want a retiree as our president. Can anyone confirm this? This is very important.

Hey Dean,
If your so upset about the $100k the lodge is going to have to pay to have a run off election, how about you start by paying back the $25k you pissed away on golf shoes for only part of the membership. Asshat.
Go away Dean, you're not wanted anymore.
You have failed the membership.
I think that Kevin is more than qualified with his service on the board and the state lodge.

From Dean:
Dean Angelo Sr.
16 hrs ·

Due to the fact that the office of President was flooded with a total of "6" candidates, a run-off election (costing the Membership $100,000) is now necessary. Because of the multitude of critical issues facing Lodge 7 over the next 3 years, it is important that our Members hear from both candidates in a face-to-face forum. This would be the best venue to show the Members who each candidate is, what they bring to the table and how they will go about best representing the women and men of the Lodge.
I submit to everyone to share this post so that it reaches as many Members as electronically possible and as a means of pressing the issue at hand.
The times ahead are going to be tough for our Officers. If you want to sit in this seat, now is the time to show the Members what they will be voting for. Now is not the time to hide behind anonymous posts or blatant lies.
I am easy to reach and look forward to having this opportunity. Time is of the essence, so the sooner we can get this done, the better for everyone involved.
Dean C. Angelo, Sr.
President
Fraternal Order of Police
Chicago Lodge 7

Here's some advise for everyone that will vote (and there's not many that will)

Go talk to some of the guys/gals that have been screwed by this dept.
Go talk to those that are stripped.
Go talk to those that are having IPRA re-open investigations on them.
Talk to those that are having issues with the Medical Section.
Talk to those that have not had their IOD bills paid in over a year and now are facing credit report issues.

Ask them how Dean and the FOP have helped them.
Dean and his crew at the FOP have not helped anyone!!
I don't know what they do but it is NOT to represent the best interests of the membership!!!

Think I'm overreacting?
Ask some of those people affected.

F Dean Angelo!!!!

I went to almost every meeting in 2016 and I didn't like what I saw and what I heard one bit.
If Dean Angelo is concerned about 100k for a run off.. He didn't show concern or the least bit of discomfort spending 50k of our money for golfing shoes.
He never had a straight answer, we had civilians attending our FOP meetings (lawyers) and half the time he would be looking at them when questions were asked.
I don't know if that ever happened before, but I think they have no business attending our meetings.
Dean Angelo hasn't been on the street for what? 10 years?
He is OUT of touch.
The FOP works for us, it is our money they are making decisions with.
He needs to be OUT.

Debate? C'mon. Dean, you had three years to show your mettle and, truth be said, you failed miserably. The contractual givebacks alone should have prevented you from getting more than two votes (yours and juniors). You were silent in the media and in bed with our mayor. You let him off the hook for at least 300 million in pension contributions. That number will continue to increase until the Chicago casino is up and running in how many years? Hey retirees did you read that?

The active guys better wake the fuck up. What will he give back next? Steady watch assignments? The sworn affidavit? Remember, this is the guy who ran to D.C. to see how he could assist the DOJ and then invited them into our home to speak with our members without counsel.

Graham has at least outlined a plan for contract negotiations. He is the only logical choice to represent us as our FOP president. Angelo had his shot and our union took giant steps backwards. Let's end this now and start to move forward again.

How about putting the Donahue/Dougherty thing to rest already? Let's see, they were in office from 2002 to 2011. During that time numerous pension benefits were garnered. Top pay was achieved at 25 years, down from 30 years. Top pension was achieved at 29 years, down from 32 years. Our current work schedule was negotiated and put into place. The sworn affidavit was legislated in Springfield and negotiated into our contract. FOP health fairs were introduced. There were pretty steady increases in wages, duty availability, and uniform allowances. Healthcare costs remained constant for several years. Duty availability became pensionable. These are facts. Should I go on?

Wouldn't it be terrible if the union began to make these gains again? Why would anyone want to keep guys like this around?

Get the point?

Dean won by over 1,000 votes. 35% + more than Kevin graham. Why should we spend lodge money on a run off. Why is the Presidents spot 50% + 1?

From a previous post....

I am looking at the picture of the Blue Voice ticket and tryin to figure out who Graham brings upstairs? Does Bill Dougherty get 2nd VP, Rich Aguilar get 1st VP? Many guys that were elected by the membership will not see the light of day upstairs. Pat Murray won his spot and deserves to be up stairs where he was elected. Here is a crazy thought...Kevin Graham brings up Mike Shields to try and get some of his 1700 votes. Sounds like a bad re-run with all the same people fighting to get upstairs. Mark, Billy, Mike Shields, Rich and Sid will all be up there in some capacity. So how was this election about change? Atleast with Dean I know what I am getting. I'm done in 3 years and hope whoever wins that the 55-65 healthcare is in this next contract. This is goi g to be a tough choice, but my gut says Dean for this contract and term. Let's all remember that our last contract was negotiated by some of the Blue Voice team and when Dean was elected most of the contract was already negotiated.

Sometimes the misinformation you read on this blog is sickening...
Please people, do your own research.
This goof talks about voting Dean because he is concerned about the 55 & out. Well it was Mark Donahue and Bill Dougherty who fought for the 55 and out twice in contract negotiations with the City. The first time the City said no. The City didn't believe the numbers our union showed them that would be saved by implementing the 55 and out. The next contract our union hired an actuary to present the numbers to the City. The City then jumped on the offer. When we got the 55 and out it was FREE. The only thing Dean did was manage to allow the City to STEAL an extra 2% from us because the plan ALREADY SAVED THE CITY MILLIONS. That's right....The 55 and out doesn't cost the City a dime. The numbers showed that by replacing officers with seniority with new hires the City would save millions of dollars over a 10 year period and that the savings would continue because after 10 years those officers move to medicare and as time repeated itself the saving would go on indefinitely. So not only did the City give us the 55 and out, they doubled down on the savings by NOT REPLACING THE OFFICERS WHO RETIRED. (Don't believe me? Just look at SCC's post from the other day showing the # of officers paying into the pension). But then the City realized they could squeeze a little more out of us and DUMBASS DEAN went for it allowing the City to charge us 2%. So go ahead asshat and cast that vote for Dean. You will be lucky if it isn't costing you between 5 and 10% by the time you retire.

He is going to hire Mark Donahue as our Springfield lobbyist. DAlba negotiated two contracts that both went to arbitration and that's where Kevin expects this contract to go. Mark is the most know fixture in Springfield due to all the years he has been involved with the FOP. He will bring up experienced guys who previously worked upstairs to do the grunt work. Debate?

3/12/2017 08:46:00 AM

#1 the overall pension funding dropped 6% by lowering the age. That hurt.

#2 Donahue let the city skate on a 25million dollar payment.

3# Donahue’s kids got jobs with the city clerks office did yours?

4# sworn affidavit bill was flawed because there is no enforcement mechanism. Not one person has been charged.

5# they signed the 55 and out with a sunset date. Mark got his whwere is mine.

6# the firemen won the pensionable duty availablity

7# The sun rose today tomorrow Donahue will take credit.

3/12/2017 08:21:00 AM

Dean,

Since you are soooo transparent, here's a couple of questions for the big debate: 1. How many tens of thousands of dollars did the FOP spend on lawyers in a failed effort to get you promoted in federal court. You remember that? You should. You still have the same lawyer. If you forgot, it's the case where the judge said you couldn't be in the lawsuit because your score was so low on the promotional test that there was no way you could be promoted. And you dare call yourself "Doctor!" aaannndddd, #2. You were disabled for over 10 years because of a knee issue. Why are you no longer disabled? Why did you immediately return to full active duty once the Pension Board finally finally scheduled a review of your case. Divine intervention? Tell us, Dean.

Someone asked for clarification about if the president can decide who will actually work at the FOP offices. The simple answer is yes, but he needs the Board of Directors approval.

The people who are elected serve on the Board of Directors and have a vote in everything that our Lodge does. How our money is spent. Political endorsements. Etc.

The people who work in the office are considered Field Reps who really have no control of any policies or procedures. They are supposed to do whatever the Board dictates.

Keep in mind that in some cases, Bella most recently, an elected official may not want to take on all of the responsibilities of a Field Rep who is on call 24-7 one or two days a week for police involved shootings, injuries, and strips.

This whole thing only becomes an issue when the Field Reps fail to perform. If Dean's picks, McDonough, Carter and Harvey did right by the membership nobody would give a shit if they were elected or not.

Finally, just how productive would the office be if the president was saddled with a group who was constantly at odds with him.

Current administration sold out the new guys on pension changes which was never ever discussed or brought to the memberships attention, as far as the 4 /2 schedule the city of chgo wanted that scedule , not the flop. as far as raises go last contract when richie was still in , richie offered 16% over 4 yrs but the flop wasn't smart enough to grab it, then lehman bros went bust dragging the country into a recession and richie took the offer off the table. now the current administration remains silient as men and women get stripped and placed into a no pay status since they are guilty until proven innocent thus hurting their families. we are our own worst enemies, get involved , go to union meetings ask the hard questions or decertify the fop and get a real union. how much pain are you willing to put your families through until you have had enough and want real change, not bullshit, smoke and mirrors.

Deans Accomplishments
#1 Bilked our pension fund out of $600,000.00 over 10 years while on disability from a softball injury but was able to hold down a full time position at the University at $90,000.00 / year and then miraculously comes off disability when issued an ultimatum by the pension board.

#2. Promised McDonough a Field Rep spot in exchange for his support during the last presidential runoff. When he won McDonough got his Field Rep spot in this pay to play scam. Proving our FOP is for sale to the highest bidders.

#3. Refused to allow election winners their Field Rep spots in the office and appointed people who did not even win their prospective election races that ignored the will of the membership and assembled friends an family field rep cast who rubber stamped his every wish..

#4. Supported the latest pension legislation intruded by the city and passed into law releiving the city of conforming with the actuarial recommendations to keep our pension properly funded. The defeat of our previous legislation that would have funded our pension at 90% by 2040 now funds our pension at 32% in 2040, kicks the can down the road until 2065 for 90% funding and cost the taxpayers an additional 20 Billion Dollars.

#5. Supported the legislation for the current stop report authored by the ACLU.

#6. $25,000 for golf shoes at the FOP Golf Outing.

#7. First time in the history of the FOP that legislation was never introduced during a three year term.

#8. Spent more money on attorneys than the previous administration when he campaigned on saving the members money on attorneys.

#9. Why would we want a retiree negotiating a contract for active members? Sets a bad precedent for FOP and sends the city a message that our union is run by retirees.

#10. The police cars he negotiated in our last contract never materialized, neither did the Casino. He is definately is in the mayors pocket.

#11. All of you who voted for Marty Preib will be wasting your vote for him if Kevin Graham does not get elected because Dean will squash anyone who campaigned against him.

#12. Created position of parliamentarian that cost the members $21,000.00 over the past three years and brought back Bill Nolan as the paid Past President even though he has not held that office for over 9 years costing the members another $21,000.00 over the past 3 years.

#13. Kevin has no family on the job so he cannot be threatened or cajoled by Rahm.

#14. His shear contempt for the healthcare cost for both active and retired members.

3/13/2017 06:22:00 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Deans history of lying to FOP members goes back to 2001 when he was on the contract negotiation committee and lied to the members that his team did not agree to a percentage being attached to our paychecks for healthcare. We voted the contract down, it went to the arbitrator who said your union lied to you, they did in fact sign a temporary agreement and you are stuck with the percentage attached to your paycheck. Dean and every last one of those FOP incumbents were voted out of office, including Dean. Dean is a snake and I was shocked when he got elected as president. Either coppers are stupid or Apathetic, lazy and plain just don't give a shit. Electing Dean was like trusting Dr. Kevorkian would prolong your life.

To add to Dean accomplishments
#15. Greg Bella had major lawsuit against him from FOP then in exchange for his support to Dean Greg was given inside job along with McDonough and guess what the lawsuit went away as part of agreement.

#16 Dean junior awarded detective, because he earned it meritorious lyrics. HOW DID THAT happen.

#17 Threw out 3 duly elected trustees voted in by the members of FOP and replaced them with people who could not have legally ran for the position or elected by the memberhip. How did that happen Dean.

#18. Brought in John Dineen as his parliamentarian another 21,000 dollars cost to the membership.

#19 Brought in Marlon Harvey and Keith Carter at Captains pay each another great cost to the membership. But put the actual elected people off to the side.

Officers is this what you want for your President, apparently NO because Dean lost a whole majority of his board and we only have one more to get rid of please vote we need to get a new change if you voted for anyone else than Dean your thought was change so PLEASE VOTE

If you are a Trump supporter I know you will vote for Kevin because you have the ability to see through the bullshit. Dean bought the last election by promising McDonough a field rep spot paid for by the members. How much will he cost the members in this election if he is successful???? You know he will be promising each of the unsuccessful presidential candidates a field rep spot for their support. It is high time the members put an end to this practice of buying elections with our money, something that was proposed during Deans administration and he rejected it. I guess he knew he would need to use this pay to play scam again. Dean will be a retiree in 3 months and has no business representing active members.

Besides allowing the duck of the $173 Million Dean relieved the city from conforming with the actuarial determined additional contributions every year until 2040 when our pension would have been funded at 90%. Under the legislation Dean fought for and is now in place our pension fund will be funded at 32% in 2040 and cost the taxpayers of Chicago an additional 20 Billion dollars.

Are Dean or one of his kids responsible for the go-fund-me page for their doggy. Seems that if one of them started the go-fund-me for a dog they should be facing the same IAD CR# that they got on Sgt. for trying to help out a black family who needed help.
