Training Snowflakes

  • The latest class of 150 rookies for the Memphis Police Department may not be ready for the real world when they graduate, according to Local Memphis. Questions are being raised about treatment of new recruits for the Memphis Police Academy, with accusations that they are being treated with ‘kid gloves’ in one of the most violent cities in the nation.

On their first day at the academy, they were treated to lunch at the Rendezvous, according to Mike Williams, Memphis Police Association president. He said, “They’re parading these guys around like look a hundred guys, and they’re just having a great wonderful time. With all the power brokers there. They had recruits at each table and a power player at each table.” During the lunch, they heard speeches from Academy Director Mike Rallings and Mayor Jim Strickland. A spokesman for the mayor’s office said that they did not pay for lunch, and that it was paid for by a group called the ‘Retired Carnival Kings.’ He said that the lunch has happened in the past with new recruits, but several veteran officers disagreed.

Mike Matthews, reporter for Local Memphis, wrote that two officers had been transferred from the academy after rookies complained that they were too tough. Recruits are also believed to have filed complaints about ‘unfair treatment’ with the City’s Human Resources or with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Williams said, “It’s been pretty much stated or assumed. It’s hands off these guys, we don’t want to lose them.” The Police Department is severely understaffed, with the total number of officers expected to drop below 1900 ‘sometime this fall.’
These recruits got a full lunch from "power players"? Aren't there Ethics tests involved in Memphis hiring? We can't accept a coffee discount, but can get free Sox tickets, and aldercreatures have to pass an exemption to swindle free Cubs tickets. As for lunches, the closest we got to a free lunch was a frosted sprinkle Dunkin' Donut at the top of a six-foot wall.....and when we got over the wall, the instructors wouldn't even let us sniff the donut.

The training at the academy has been weak for years. When I was there 6 years or so ago it was easy and more then a few classmates packed on the pounds. I bet its even worse these day. The department I left CPD had a real academy and you couldn't sleep walk through your day.

Lol, wonder how many call it a day after 1 or 2 years... today if I was a recruit, I would say fuck this job and go to college for computer shit or medical... the pay in those fields is great and you get more respect than a cop

This.

Is EXACTLY what the aclu, #blm, the media, "tha communerty"
and the progressive liberal white-guilt addled SJWs meant
by changing "Warrior Cop Culture" to mere public servant
"guardian/care-taker Policing."

"Warrior Cops" are seen as too combative, too assertive,
too aggressive, too quick to assess a situation and seize
it in order to prevent it from spiraling out of control,
thus depriving any random member of a protected demographic
of their "right" to express and assert their outsized
grievance against the rest of society via The Police who
are now expected to slow-down/de-escalate/stand down in
the face of increasingly aggressive and obnoxious
demonstrations of class, culture, racial and economic
aggrievement that have absolutely nothing to do with
Police action being taken to disrupt and curtail
such conduct and actions that the rest of civilized
society has deemed and codified as being criminal.

Said codification being intentionally and increasingly
subverted as days go by...

"You cops are just too...
Well... Too..."

"Police Reform needs to happen hard, fast and right now."

Imagine the snowflakes being made to run like we ran
and being fucked with/fucked around/fucked over and
just plain being punished, pounded on and abused in
the academy like so many before them.

"You can't fuck with our heads like that!
It hurts our feelings."

Like Dude Inc. is going to be considerate
of your feelings as they size you up every
time you get out of that car and have to have
interaction with them.

These words:

"Be Polite. Be professional, but have a plan
in mind to kill everything/everyone you
encounter should it ever become necessary."

Much emphasis on polite and professional
but be prepared for the m/fer who ONLY
understands the language of violence as
it IS a matter of life or death as to
whether The Policeman can speak said
language and speak it fluently in order
to get society's point across to these
hard heads out here.

Policing has been ruined in every
Democrat-Controlled urban center
in this country.

Delicious irony that the makers, producers
and the constructive are fleeing these same
urban centers/slave plantations.

"Where y'awl goin'? Who gonna be left to
pay for all our free shit?"

The Snowflakes are the product of Helicopter Parents:
constant supervision, controlled environments ("play dates"),
NEVER having to walk to school alone, from Kidnergarden
to seniors in high school. Walking to and from classes in
different buildings in college/university: Oh, the horror!
Participation trophies, "time outs," "do overs": this generation
is NOT suitable for the military or high-stress high paying
decision making jobs on Wall Street.
Eligible for health insurance under parent's policy until age 26?
Twenty-fucking-six. Oh, that's for the elites going on to graduate
school. The vast majority are slackers who can't hold a conversation
while looking you in the eye. Avoidance of eye contact is a symptom
of many mental disorders.

Coming soon to the chicago police academy. The last 5 years of academy turnout has been nothing less than a majority of snowflakes and its just getting worse. Hey calloway, maybe start with instructors that were actually once the police then rotate them every three years. There are people teaching the newbies that haven't worked the street in 10 years but they can somehow teach recruits how to police 007 even though they've never even driven through there?

Yeah...
You can just imagine how a sit-down lunch
hosted by Tero, Marsh, Morowski, Anderson & Co.
would have liked like...

The snowflakes would poop
in their onesies.

Too much pampering, praising and validating.
Too much everybody gets an ice cream after the game.

The losers running laps while the winners
enjoy their ice cream is mean, insensitive
and doesn't teach empathy.

Quick... Everybody run for their safe space
to avoid being triggered.

Heh!

American Manhood has been made to
squat to pee...

This is not too much different from the Chicago police academy The snowflakes they're going through that are very similar they are scared petrified some of them the instructors cannot swear at them or scare the more otherwise they report the instructors and their structures are discipline! You wonder why the end of policing everywhere especially in the city of Chicago is over with.

It sounds like our Academy where they ensure the morons pass too. I dont remember one ever failing, except for getting caught using drugs. The instructors all walk out of the rooms during tests so you could have the IQ of an Afghan Hound and pass.

They didnt even make 'em run during the runs.

Went through the Academy in early 80s. Lost 15 lbs. Was moderately challenging. Any injury to PPO was very serious matter.

Unlike stories of OBrien street where broken bones were known.

Those kids in Memphis are just lambs being fattened up for the street wolves to devour.

The Snows in CFD were told not to worry because the
Cubs are unlikely to catch fire this year.
NYC recently bought mini cars with A.C. to patrol tight
spaces like the walkways in Central Park. Ideal S.F. job
because officers expected to engage public and be friendly.
Too small to hold a prisoner; they have to call for full-size squad.
NYPD uses words like "presence" and "visibility" and "access."
A & E considering miniseries: Snow Flake Blues. Unvarnished,
brutal optics: posing with Japanese tourists for photos, enforcing
pet poop laws, running dog tag checks, first responders to heart
attacks, dehydrated runners, premature births. Displays of park
contraband: illegal squirrel traps, glass crack pipes, magnifying
glasses used to fry worms and ants, cannabis sprouts, mobile
meth burping bags, impromptu satanic altars, empty ReddiWhip
cans, Skittles bags, DM syrup bottles.

This is the same thing Barry did to our Military. You know, the red cards they could hold up if they got butthurt about something or another.

These snowflakes are in for a RUDE awakening when they hit the streets and find out they are so very different from the COLLEGE campuses they are used to ( Yes I LAUGH at commentators here who support the 'College degree requirement" as it WILL bring you ALL of the SNOWFLAKES you can handle in the years to come LMAO).

Unfortunately, some of their awakenings will be them taking a dirt nap because their overflowing liberalism will BE what gets them KILLED. Their "deescalation" will be viewed as the weakness it IS when imposed as a command rather than a POLICE decided response made on scene in ANY given situation. Their, "kinder gentler" John Friggin Kerry approach to the WAR in our streets going on will melt many of these snowflakes quickly, leaving just liberal tears floing like a red river.

Will they THEN admit it? Will they THEN face it, that their pie in the sky bullshit is exactly that? Bullshit?

Maybe. But I wouldn't hold my breath.

A lot of departments are heading in this direction and some are doing a hybrid version merging both elements of college critical thinking and some military teaching techniques. I believe the hybrid model is better. The strictly paramilitary model does not work when dealing with the public we are not the military. I can't count how many times I had a recruit and asked them why they did something and they couldn't articulate critical idea without resorting to "No excuse Sir!" verbiage from the academy. That may work with the academy staff but when you are getting grilled on the stand or answering that CR# that won't fly. With cameras at every turn and on your body swearing at people like they did to us back in the day will result in an extended RDO. I agree that stress needs to part of the academy but all the time is not needed. More time needs to be placed on critical thinking, being able to defend your actions verbally and written and learning how to talk to properly communicate with the citizens. How many of us heard this from our FTO " forget all that crap you learned at the academy" ? There was a study done that compared recruits trained under both models and they found that those who trained under the "college no stress model" had greater job satisfaction, less complaints, and had reduced stress levels than those who trained under the paramilitary model 5 years into their careers.

First of all if it weren't for The King, Memphis would be as decrepit as Detroit...which it is.

Tenderizing the Recruit is the Progressives (never in a District Instructor), Merit Exempt mandated training method.

Sum it up:

"Their spirit is dead -- if they ever had one -- it's gone.
You're building a rat ship here.
A vessel for sea goin' snitches.
And if you think your preparing these minnows for manhood you better think again.
Because I say you are killing the very spirit this institution proclaims it instills!
What a sham."

And if you weren't on your game, the line went out the door. Talking about a joint with a captive audience. Sometimes it was just easier eating the vendateria special of "Meatloaf Surprise with chips" and a can of pop.

No it is not. I enlisted in 2002. Stress cards were already out. I never saw one, not once since 2002, but one of my classmates saw one when she was being held over for training. She was the only person that actually told me she had seen them used. There was already a huge difference in basic training between my enlistment and when he got in. It sucked already and we were dissatisfied before he took office so save it. Blame fake news or something else.

Most common for U.S. military applicant rejection:
can't pass physical. Overweight, morbid obesity,
high blood glucose, illegal drugs found in urine,
excessive tats/profane language, swastika and
gang symbols: found in areas not concealed by
uniform: back/side of neck, fingers, back of hand,
facial areas.
3-day observational stay for recruits: 12 to 18 inch
solid log excrement not cleared by single toilet flush.
Popsicle stick required to break/smash mass: this is
a deal breaker.
Failure to collect solid waste excrement and tolerate
destruction with mixture of gasoline & diesel. Most
recruits fall to their knees, hurl, dry heave, then LEAVE.

For some of us hired in early 1982 - after being detailed to the Taste of Chicago due to a boycott called by Jesse Jackson (HonkyFest). We were later treated to a steak lunch at the Chicago Yacht Club hosted by ... Mayor Jane Byrne!! The Academy Director was Tom Walton and he ran as tight a ship as possible. Even Walton was impressed when Jane gave a brief speech about our professional demeanor in the face of various racial taunts/slurs and concluded by announcing that she would give each of us a Unit Citation (red award ribbon). Back then, it was unheard of to be a PPO and receive a Dept. Award.
So there are times when recruits were taken to lunch and given a pat on the back. And there were times when Chicago had a pro-police Mayor who put her money where her mouth was.

More attention to take downs ,wrist locks , arm locks
& the old hip toss , they taught those who did not know how to fight & survive.80% of the class was former military, Drafted or enlisted . Recruits were used as giney pigs,
if the wrist lock was applied properly the recruit would scream in pain .Then U could
