Really Kevin?

  • Embattled alderman Ed Burke was out campaigning for re-election Monday, less than three weeks after he was charged with attempted extortion. He arrived to an event that was described as a private meet and greet between first responders and Burke at Doc's Grey Horse Saloon on Chicago’s Southwest Side.

The media was not invited inside.

Burke arrived in a black Mercedes SUV, minus his security detail, which was removed after he was charged. Also Monday, Burke, a former police officer, earned the endorsement of the Fraternal Order of Police.
We thought allowing Skinny Johnson - currently under federal investigation - a "merit" pick and Barb West nominating Skinny's girlfriend for promotion was a new low for the Department.

Then McCompStat opened his gob.

And now FOP endorses someone currently under indictment?

How deep does this rabbit hole go?

Vote them all out. One term, just like Dean. I don’t give a rat’s ass about “innocent until proven guilty”. That doesn’t apply to Burke. He’s been stealing for nearly 50 yrs., and since when has he been a great friend to the police? Fuck him.

This shady shit...

Has City Hall via Burke been co-opting the FOP
leadership all along to sow dissent and misinformation
among the membership to keep "those coppers" from
standing united and actually being able to fight
back against the outrages committed by city Hall?

What has Burke promised the current leadership
to march the membership around in circles to
a standstill?

Finance and the games played with legit IOD recurrence
denials and disability being granted to clouted schemers
needs to be looked at even more closely.

Too many dirty hands washing each other...

Deep. Just sticking to the real estate appeal industry, there are hundreds of lawyers that solicit homeowners for appeals. I suspect there's money flowing from these bottom dwellers to the kingpins like Burke and Madigan. I also suspect the assessor's office is in on it. Some one has to jack up assessments so people feel motivated to appeal. Then there are the judges who hear the appeals. Pretty convenient for Burke to head the committee involved with getting them on the bench. There's money flowing there too.

This removes "ALL" doubt that FOP 7 is, and has been "in the bag" for years. Current Lodge president, Kevin Graham should be asked to resign as FOP president. The damage from him, and past presidents will take generations to fix, if, and, only if, The political will of the lodge determines to do so.
Remember, "This removes ALL doubt"...No explanation can be given for throwing any support to corrupt politicians after the way Burke has treated the police in the past. This was a perfect opportunity to dump Burke in the shit can of life, and simply DO what was right. Whether, or not Burke will be found guilty, or Not guilty is to be determined by a court. Burke should not be re-elected. Again, NO satisfactory explanation can be given here. Should KG state that Burke is innocent until proven guilty, will only prove that there is an allegiance to Burke that is too strong to break at this point in time. FOP 7 has put out a long line of "political" endorsements in the past. Almost all of them have caused the lodge to scratch their heads. Never before has it been so clear. The right thing to do, was not done here, and casts serious doubt on the lodge president. He has been silent on many issues. This silence now speaks volumes about his loyalties.

Is there a CODE OF SILENCE with him the Ciry Coumsel? Sure seems like tbere is with Sawyers statements below. They want police to “rat” on other police and when they don’t there is a massive CODE OF SILENCE issue with police officers. Well it looks like Solis knew something with Burke was wrong and he made steps to bring it to light and he is being vilified

FOP do something and call out this hypocrisy of elected officials claiming a code of silence in the police and then publicly string themself they would partake in a code of silince among themselves.

Burke’s colleagues were not nearly as tight-lipped. They view Solis’ actions as a betrayal.

Ald. Roderick Sawyer (6th), chairman of the City Council’s Black Caucus, said getting wired up to snare colleagues is “not the way I was brought up.”

“If I was caught doing something wrong, I’d just take my punishment, deal with the consequences . . . and keep my mouth shut,” Sawyer said.

As for Solis, Sawyer said, “I feel for him. I feel for his family. But it is not a comforting moment that you have to really think twice when you’re talking to somebody on the Council floor, on the phone or whatever.”

Chuy Garcia's guy just beat Representative Daniel J. Burke (D) 1st District, Ed's brother. Chuy endorses an Aldermanic candidate, Tanya Patino, running against Ed. Luis (FALN boy) Guitterez's replacement is getting awfully power hungry. Chuy is a hater. Tanya's the girlfriend of Aaron Ortiz who just beat Dan Burke. Here is a part of her platform, " The other thing that I want to bring in is participatory budgeting. Residents like the idea. They like that they’re going to be part of the decision-making. They like that anyone in the ward can vote. They just have to be over sixteen and live in the ward—they don’t have to be registered voters, they don’t have to be citizens. They’re really excited because they’re going to actually be heard."
Sorry for the long rant, however, read more about Tanya and policing. Real scary stuff. All three candidates running against Ed were Chuy's people. One dropped out to run Tanya's campaign. Solis' involvement?

I thought the FOP was not in the Poiitcal Action bidness anymore.
To top it off, it took a corrupt and crooked Danny Solis to wear a wire to snag Burke.
I’m searching for old FOP endorsements for Solis...far as I’m concerned now, he earned a past PAC plug.

Just what has Ed Burke done for the Police anyway?
Let me tell you;
Many whom were injured on the job, “while on duty” (not Line of Duty) for at least the last 15 years or more, are routinely denied the Workman’s Comp benefit and are then required to submit the claim to BCBS. It becomes the members responsibility for the medical bills, out of pocket, medications, therapy and deductibles because Burke’s Finance Dept controls the pay outs.
Wasn’t that bad long ago when deductibles were $300 a yr. and copays were just $5-10.

FOP would see no benefit on a whole from the biased 47 City Council in these times, not to mention anytime prior to Rahm.
What is the basis for an FOP endorsement?
A Burke council vote on our behalf would only be symbolic.
Burke had voted 100% with Rahm his entire time, including $23 mil just for first year 2019 Consent Decree funding.
Most of City Council wants to restructure, manipulate, dismantle FOP - that’s no secret.
Anyone recall what Burke’s thoughts on the MadigRahm Consent Dupe?

Always Remember: FOP PAC endorsed both Madigroin’s for office, more than once. The logic was “it’s better to have a friend in Springfield”. How do like the Madigroin’s now ?

Stay out of endorsing, maybe that’s the 1950’s that GMcMac is talking about.
More so now that JB eau d’Toillette wants pension amendments.

So? Don't come to work drunk and it won't be an issue.

Pick another battle - there's plenty of B.S. to call Burke and the FOP out on. Not this.

So once again what's the problem?

1/23/2019 06:57:00 AM

Troll or Millennial?
Burge was convicted of perjury and obstruction of justice. Not once for beating or violating civil rights of the convicted criminals getting released or payed out by the city.

Van Dyke is a political pawn to appease the radical left, to both codify liberal media fairytale of a code of silence among blue shirts, and justify payouts to chosen law firms. Where is the premeditated malice in responding to a call for help by other officers and doing what he thought was right to do under the stress of facing an armed habitual criminal offender?

Both Burge and JVD were accused of crimes while engaged in police related activity. Which is why the union pays for the defense.

Burke is accused of his using his political office, we aren't paying for his defense.

Your comparison is like comparing a steak to tofu.

from Tribune:"Ald. Susan Sadlowski Garza, 10th, said she was dismayed by the story about Burke and Solis. “I come from a world where we work together side by side,” Garza said. “I just never expected that, I really didn’t. We’re supposed to be colleagues.”

Sounds a lot like a Code of Silence

Furthermore, FOP 7 needs to stop funneling money to these corrupt Democrats.
- Democratic Majority - Chairman Madigan ($3000 4/2018) and it’s a annual contribution too!
- Cullerton ($3000 10/2018)
- Kwamie Raoul ($500 6/2018)
and a quite few others of the party of taxation and Sanctuary entitlement.

Oh, $250 to Republican State Senate Committee 9/2017

From Politico:

Preckwinkle's new poll was commissioned by SEIU Illinois Local 1. Public Policy Polling, a Democratic automated polling firm, surveyed 798 Chicago voters from Jan. 18-20. The poll found Preckwinkle "is in the lead with 15% of Chicago voters supporting her," according to a poll memo released to POLITICO. Bill Daley was second with 12 percent; Gery Chico had 11 percent; Wilson, 10 percent; Paul Vallas and Susana Mendoza each got 9 percent; Lori Lightfoot, 8 percent, and Garry McCarthy and Amara Enyia had 6 and 4 percent, respectively. But 17 percent were "undecided."

Ald. Roderick Sawyer (6th), chairman of the City Council’s Black Caucus, said getting wired up to snare colleagues is “not the way I was brought up.”

“Where I come from, if you wore a wire, someone’s gonna kick your ass,” said Ald. Matt O’Shea (19th), whose Southwest Side ward is home to scores of Chicago Police officers.

Ald. Carrie Austin (34th), the always outspoken Budget Committee Chairman, was suddenly speechless when asked to comment about Solis.

“Not about Danny. I might cry,” Austin said. “You don’t do that. You just don’t.”

Rules Committee Chairman Michelle Harris (8th) offered a variation on Don Corleone’s infamous admonishment to his son in the movie, “The Godfather”: “Don’t take sides against the family.”

Ald. Gilbert Villegas (36th), chairman of the Hispanic Caucus, called Solis’ extraordinary role as an FBI mole a “betrayal” of the entire Hispanic community.

These are the same assholes who think the CPD has a code of silence?

They are bullying Solis and advocating for him to keep his mouth shut. I cant believe these guys are openly telling him to not to do anything about corruption.

Imagine if Riccio, Johnson or Staples told Police Officers not to wear wires or tell of corruption witnessed by fellow P.O.'s!

This is the REAL code of silence.

What are you going to do about it media? This should be national news, outwardly disparaging a man for exposing corruption

I've seen it all now.

This city is seen as a joke to the rest of the nation, and they're right.

a couple things to ponder. other unions have gone to court here and prevailed on the new changes. if you leave your bargaining unit they dont have to let you back in if you have a change of heart later. thats how they are dealing with the free riders.theoretically if thefop got a 3% raise maybe the free riders wouldnt get anything. also the massive teamsters central states pension fund is bancrupt and collapsing now. could be one of those pension domino theory things. a senate commitee is holding hearings on that now. best thing to do right now is reform fop and hold their feet to the fire. good luck.
